Perched high in the mist-shrouded Carpathian Mountains, Bran Castle looms like a timeless predator, its jagged silhouette haunting the horizon. Though often called "Dracula's Castle," there's a wicked irony in the fact that Bram Stoker never set foot here - yet its sinister aura seems tailor-made for his bloodthirsty Count. Inside its cold stone walls, ancient secrets whisper, as if the spirit of Vlad the Impaler himself, a supposed inspiration for Dracula, still prowls the halls. Stoker's tale may have been a work of fiction, but Bran Castle feels like the perfect hunting ground for an immortal vampire. If the creaking of its wooden floors doesn’t chill your bones, the thought of what might lurk behind its shadowed doors surely will.

Did you know there is an autonomous state within the city of Copenhagen? The hippie commune project Freetown Christiana began in 1971 as a squatted military base and has 1,000 residents today. Its Pusher Street used to be famous for its open trade of cannabis, but was recently shut down. The 1976 protest song "I kan ikke slå os ihjel" ("You cannot kill us"), written by Tom Lunden of flower power rock group Bifrost, became the unofficial anthem of Christiania.
