We are travelling back to Eladria by sea, it seems. I must say I prefer it to the mess we made in the merfolk city - nothing could hurt us here, and there is nothing we can hurt (you would think). Our numbers have increased since I last set my pen on these papers, there is a tiefling named Ariameia and we are also joined by a human from this holy order who is escorting us (I cannot seem to remember her name). Naeris and Mordekei do not seem to be taking the trip so well. Naeris especially, she has been nauseous since we got to the inn. Speaking of that, I suppose I should write down what has happened the last couple of days. That is what a diary is for, is it not? A few days ago, we were arriving at this inn - the name of which escapes me - when we spotted a mysterious man dragging a clearly wounded body into a house at the side of the street. I, and also presumably the others, obviously immediately suspected something was not quite right here - and what an understatement. We discovered the mysterious figure to be some sort of man-eater, and aggressive at that. While fending him off and subsequently killing him (twice), we found a tiefling locked inside a cage in the back of the room. Ariameia, as we learned her name was, had been captured by the man-eater and would have been his next meal had we not intervened. She agreed to join our party for the time being. The next day, we were awoken by a man telling us he urgently needed to speak with us. Taking us to a temple in some unknown location, he explained that the orb we had acquired through our magical deck of cards was an orb they had been protecting for long - successfully, until we got it. We explained our reasons for wanting the orb, and as our goals aligned, they agreed to a compromise. We would take the orb and show the countess that it is safe, whereafter it would be returned to the temple. For this purpose, the human i mentioned above is travelling with us to make sure the orb gets there and back safely. Hopefully this will all go along smoothly. I have got to admit all this fighting takes its toll on me; I am not used to fighting, and especially killing. So many lives that could just be left alone. I suppose it is the price we will have to pay for this to work, but I cannot accept that those we kill are simply evil that we must overcome - there has to be something good in them, right? Something that could be nurtured, something that could be made to grow. While others devoted to Boldrei have told me that She would forgive me for this, I am just not sure if I could forgive myself. The journey ahead will be long, and hopefully uneventful. Would not want Naeris and Mordekei to have to fight in their current state. I will see where our journey takes us, and I’ll write here again as soon as I am able to. -Saolaith

Finally, I’ve got something to write down my thoughts on. A place for all these questions, answers and experiences that have been swirling around my head for the past while. I don’t actually know how long it’s been since I decided to tag along with these people, a week maybe? It seems like it’s been forever.
I like them. They’ve got their ups and downs but I think they all just have different things they care or don’t care about - there’s bound to be conflict, but I can’t say any of them is evil.
Naeris is sometimes hard to reason with, and she could stand to think before acting at times. She’s apparently had a rough past though, and I understand how that can mold you. I'm sure she isn't acting out of malice. One thing that struck me quite hard was that she said that her money was all she had. Maybe... she doesn't have anyone that cares about her.
Bree - I’m not sure what to say about her. She’s quite secretive, I never really know what’s on her mind. What I’m sure of, though, is that she means well. She seemed distraught upon learning she’d, in her drunken state, stolen money from Naeris. I admire her quest, too. Nobody deserves to live under a tyrannical king.
Then there’s Krahs. He’s a bit lofty - okay, really lofty. But he’s always eager to help out and I can’t remember a single bad thing he’s done. He also doesn’t seem like he’s troubled by anything at all. That worries me, actually. He’s got to have something that bothers him, everybody does, right? Maybe he just doesn’t want to share it?
I want to write down our journey so far but I’ve got to get some rest for tomorrow, I assume that’s when we’ll leave for Eladria. It’s going to be a long trip.
