Honestly the typing quirks thing is something that has aged sooooo badly it's not even funny.

i, for one, am THRILLED to be seeing a homestuck adaptation.

i understand some of the criticism about how difficult it would be to adapt the webcomic's unique style that so many of us adore-- how do you naturally show typing quirks in an animated show!

but hussie is on the team. hes the writer. i have faith that he can adapt his own damn creation. i have faith he wouldnt go into this without a plan to make it work.

On a serious note, why are people treating their fandoms like they're these super niche things when Vivziepop gets involved.

Like last week you had people acting like Fall Out Boy was some underground band and Patrick "I bet he's the one that suggested the music video for Carpal Tunnel of Love be done by the Happy Tree Friends crew" Stump was some 17 year oldninnocwntnlittle mew mew.

People trying to claim homestuck is niche is so funny like, guys we're like one of The fandoms, homestuck has millions of fans, over half a million people have already watched the trailer, basically every internet fandom dweller has at least heard of Vriska. We are not some indie webcomic with only 40 fans, we're one of the most successful webcomics in history that has crashed multiple websites due to basically accidental ddos attacks due to the amount of people trying to see the newest update. People have invested millions of dollars into this series. Guys, guys we aren't niche and small what are you talking about?

I mean there's also the problems that came about BEFORE the webcomic even ended. The references and a lot of meta-jokes are going to be lost even more.

i think folks are overestimating how much of a commitment a homestuck show would actually be. homestuck is only so long because of chat logs and sideplots, both of which WILL be condensed greatly for tv pacing. hell the pilot alone is gonna do all of Act 1 in like 10-15 minutes. do you really think they’re gonna do hundreds of pages of WV dicking around in a single room?

the thing about an audiovisual medium is that you can do visual shorthand to communicate information very quickly. which isn’t possible with a comic page that has a single gif followed by a 3 minute chatlog. if anything it might wind up going TOO fast because most of the padding which is used to pace the comic isn’t really possible to do properly in a purely audiovisual format

Mind you, this is the guy who willingly did 99% of Homestuck's music.

Truthfully it's starting to get a little creepy and weird uncle weird.

I was aware that dr/ut fans have always been very weird and parasocial about toby, but the shit I'm seeing with the homestuck announcement is really putting into perspective how many people idolize a man who they do not know and put him on some type of weirdass pedestal.
