I’ve been seeing something going around about how since Hermes is a trickster god, April first should be a new day of celebration for him. Here’s everything I have on it so far.

Seems super interesting and something I could really get behind.

Committing piracy as a devotional act to Hermes

Shoutout to that era in the 90s when Dionysus temporality possessed home renovators and grape themed kitchens were a thing.

sometimes prayers are formal and thought out and deeply meaningful. but sometimes prayers are leaning your head against the window of a train and whispering “i love you so fucking much hermes” because you absolutely should not have been able to make that train.

developing a personal pantheon is fun because sometimes it’s just like “i’m more drawn to the deity who serves this function in pantheon A than i am to the deity who serves this function in pantheon B” or “i know i want to honor a deity of XYZ and that only exists in one of these pantheons so that was easy”

but then sometimes it’s like “oh no i think i might have a completely different idea of how this part of the cosmology works than any of these pantheons”

As the title suggests, this is a free collection of my Etruscan polytheism resources that I used to create the etruscan polytheism 101 carrd. If you are looking for a very entry level guide to Etruscan polytheism, look into the carrd. Any questions can be directed to the carrd's blog, @ask-aiser. There are also some hellenic polytheism resources. Check up on it once in awhile, I update it as I discover more articles.

IMO, it’s helpful to think of offerings in terms of acts of hospitality. For example, when you have a guest over, it’s customary to offer them a drink such as ice water, tea, or perhaps something stronger if you have it and they like that sort of thing. Now of course you don’t want to be miserly with your offerings and you do want to give your deities something they actually like, but the idea that something like, say, a glass of ice water just can’t be good enough because your offerings must be this exact expensive/inaccessible thing is just spiritual gentrification. Water might seem awfully unremarkable, but it’s one of the most basic necessities of life and that is why we offer it to guests; because they might be thirsty after their trip to your home. And sure, it’s nice to offer guests something fancier if you have it. But I think we can agree that water should be acceptable to to your guests if it’s what you have. What constitutes hospitality could also be used to inform what else you might offer your deities. Perhaps you could offer them a chair to sit on. Perhaps you could offer them a homemade cookie or even just a mint candy. Of course there’s going to be no one-size-fits-all answer here, but thinking of offerings as a matter of hospitality can still give you some idea of what might be appropriate.
