Jan is expressing his feelings in a quite typical for himself way, practised multiple times on Michał Jerzy Wołodyjowski. But who could resist not to try with such a beautiful Cossack-Boy, when there is only a chance?

And Jurko, oh Jurko, dear Boy, my dearest Little Steppe Bird, I can almost hear your screaming, I can almost see you trying so passionately to twist yourself from Jan’s arms, kicking and biting him. But Jan is not such a person, that can be so easily discouraged, no… he is a soldier after all, and not an ordinary soldier, but a husarz. As far as I see now, he has already managed to calm you down, perhaps whispering right to your ear, that he loves you, that he cares for you and “I won’t hurt you” and “I won’t let anyone hurt you anymore”. So here you are, relaxed in his arms with your own arms around his neck, clinging like a child, enjoying, probably for the first time in your miserable life as a mid-17th century orphan, being hugged and embraced. Let this moment last forever!

Południca is attacking mainly those who go alone into the fields, though she can be also seen wandering around small villages or along main dirt roads. According to some of the tales, she’s targetting only the people who deserved it – the cheating men, or the farmers who do not honor the rites dedicated to the Mother Earth during the harvest season.
