Taking a deep breath, Katherine averted her gaze from him, nodding her head. “Yes, I know and I apologize for doing so. I know I shouldn’t have done that to you,” she murmured. “If you’re meaning yourself, I wouldn’t say that. You remind me of who I was, of course. But, I wouldn’t consider you one of the people who inflicted said pain. You weren’t the one who killed my family. I can say that I’ll try to coexist with your family, but I can’t promise that it’ll happen -- I’m sorry.”

“You have before.” She wanted him to leave his family, forget them and just run away with her. Perhaps if he had done so he would have been free of much of the drama that is in his life today but that wasn’t the type of man he was. “If you don’t wish to face that pain I can imagine its not too easy to look one of the people who inflicted such pain in the eyes every day. I can’t say my brother will stop hating you for causing him such a long headache but I can say he shouldn’t seek you out to harm any longer.”

You don’t need friends or family to survive life, despite what some may think. Instead, you just need yourself. If you lived through half the things I have, you wouldn’t be humble either. In fact, you’d probably be the same -- whether you want to admit it or not. I built up Katherine so I didn’t have to deal with that pain. She’s only a mere wall covering Katerina -- a wall I refuse to tear down because all of this is better than feeling everything. Entertainment purposes only, sweetheart. Nothing more, nothing less.”

“Most people in this town have already killed before, or whatever. I don’t like you Katherine, not due to the things you’ve done, to or not to survive, but because through it all, instead of being humble and learning, you are a psychotic bitch who is so up her ass she does not see the true beauty. And if I’m really tha flat, boring and dull, I don’t understand why you even bother to stop and answer me.”

“True, but you’ve gotta get your teeth that close first. I don’t scare you? Not at all? I mean, I usually at least unsettle people since I’m unpredictable. I’m actually glad you’ve heard of me though -- means I don’t have to go through the ‘you aren’t Elena’ thing. I’d say I hope they were good things but for some reason, I doubt they were.”

“ Somehow I don’t doubt that, there are some pretty scary montsers out there but I know I can kill you with one bite. It’s cute that you think you can scare me though, you’re Katherine.. Klaus mentioned you once or twice.”

“Hot or sexy? Easy there, tiger. You’ve yet to compliment me so -- we’re going to have to limit the ones I give you. So, you’re a cop? Or -- do you use another term? I’ve got time, if you wanna share.”

“Personally I’d shoot for hot or sexy. Working a case, sort of. It’s a long story.”

“Not exactly. Listen, I really don’t care if you like who I am now or not. I’ve become what I had to in order to survive. Yes, I’ve killed people and yes, I’ve done things normal people wouldn’t even consider. But -- I survived Klaus’s wrath, which isn’t something many can say they have. That’s all there is to know about you -- you’re very two dimensional -- flat, boring, and dull.”

“You really have lost you mind, haven’t you? Petrova or Pierce, I still think who you were doesn’t matter. What matters is what you are now and now you’re psychotic bitch. And don’t act like you know me just because my last name is Forbes.”

“I assure you that isn’t what Elijah saw in me. In fact, I wasn’t even like this when he first met me. Katerina Petrova wouldn’t consider killing someone. Katherine Pierce, on the other hand, wouldn’t bat an eye. So, thanks for the compliment but -- it takes neurotic people like you and Caroline to make a psychotic bitch like me.”

“A psycotic bitch? Well yeah, we Forbes can’t be that even if we try.”

“ Not so much. I think that’d be a total different level of kinky for me. Got a name?”
