greek mythology: hades, god of the dead and king of the underworld

In Greek mythology, Hades was regarded as the oldest son of Cronus and Rhea, although the last son regurgitated by his father. He and his brothers Zeus and Poseidon defeated their father’s generation of gods, the Titans, and claimed rulership over the cosmos. Hades received the underworld, Zeus the sky, and Poseidon the sea, with the solid earth—long the province of Gaia—available to all three concurrently. Hades was often portrayed with his three-headed guard dog Cerberus. 

HAIDES (Hades) was the king of the underworld and god of the dead. He presided over funeral rites and defended the right of the dead to due burial. Haides was also the god of the hidden wealth of the earth, from the fertile soil with nourished the seed-grain, to the mined wealth of gold, silver and other metals. 

Haides desired a bride and petitioned his brother Zeus to grant him one of his daughters. The god offered him Persephone, the daughter of Demeter. However, knowing that the goddess would resist the marriage, he assented to the forceful abduction of the girl. When Demeter learned of this, she was furious and caused a great dearth to fall upon the earth until her daughter was returned. Zeus was forced to concede lest mankind perish, and the girl was fetched forth from the underworld. However, since she had tasted of the pomegranate seed, she was forced to return to him for a portion of each year.

Haides was depicted as a dark-bearded, regal god. He was depicted as either Aidoneus, enthroned in the underworld, holding a bird-tipped sceptre, or as Plouton (Pluton), the giver of wealth, pouring fertility from a cornucopia. The Romans named him Dis, or Pluto, the Latin form of his Greek title Plouton, “the Lord of Riches.”

Saviri was sitting on her bed when she came home, and at first she didn’t acknowledge him. She set down her pack and worked on her leathers, and after a moment he knew she was intentionally antagonizing him. “So you’re going to pretend I’m not here then, Tali?” She grinned at her, and she lifted her gaze, catching his eyes from the mirror she stood before. She immediately turned around and came to him then, pushing him back onto the bed and running her hands over his chest. He immediately took hold of her and rolled her onto her back.

“We can’t do this anymore, Wolfie. We’re kidding ourselves.” Tala’nori’s breath was already ragged and she bit her lower lip as she ran her hands down Saviri’s back. Her eyes met his, and it was clear to him that it wasn’t just lust within them. He placed his hands to either side of her face and leaned down to gaze at her, quiet for a long moment as her pupils dilated and her irises rotated. It was clear when she blinked she was trying to hide it from him. 

“You still love me, I can see it in your eyes. You could never lie to me, Tali. No matter how many times you want to try to lie to yourself, never to me. You simply can’t.” Saviri spoke huskily, moving a stray lock of hair from her face as he leaned on his elbow to stare down at her intensely. She parted her lips as if she were about to say something, but she merely stared at him, finally reaching up to pull him into a kiss.

Warcraft Zoology Prompts

So I decided to make a updated version of the WoW Zoology themed prompts I made a while back ago. Anyways feel free to send them out or reblog this. Overall just have fun. 

Gulp Froglet - How is your character’s appetite? Are their eyes bigger than their stomach? Or are they a bottomless pit?

Armored Scorpid - What is your character’s go to defense mechanism?

Lava Spider - How is your character’s tolerance to heat? Have they ever been burned in some way? What do they do if they need to cool off?

Fruit Hunter Axebeak - What is their favorite fruit? Do they prefer to eat it as is or mixed in other foods?
