2. Line-based real world design
This is a upholstery fabric sample I have, you can see clear lines running vertically up the fabric. The lines are bold and visible which effects the design by making them stand out and have a beautiful effect on the red fabric.

1. Point-based real world design
This is the stark chair in my room, I sit on it many hours a day, everyday, for classes on zoom. You can see in the pattern of the chair that each corner of the diamonds in the design, has a point, all the points form lines going both horizontally and diagonally across the chair seat. The repetition of the the diamond shape also makes the design eye catching, and the fact this is more of an invisible line makes the design even more fascinating.

Photo

I chose this photo because of the visual language it communicates, it provokes emotion and feels playful, like a childhood memory. The photographer catches your attention through the use of light. The main subjects of the photo are directly in the light, almost vibrant, while the background is much darker which visually communicates to viewers to focus their attention to the main subjects. The visual language of the photo produces the effect that we the viewers are interacting with the subjects of the photograph through the specific angle at which it is shot. Emotionally it conveys the message of adolescence and childhood. Savannah Crotwell DES323
