This piece features the fire sign, Leo the lion (July 23rd - August 22nd). Leo are generous and passionate but can be arrogant and self-centered. The flowers framing Leo are cistus which represent popular favor in the Victorian language of flowers.

Cancer

This piece features the water sign, Cancer the crab (June 21st - July 22nd). Cancer are sympathetic and loyal but can be moody and insecure. The flowers framing Cancer are cinquefoil which represent a beloved child in the Victorian language of flowers.

Brand 49 - Annual National Juried Exhibition of Works on Paper

"Brand Library & Art Center in Glendale, California announces its 49th Annual National Juried Exhibition of Works on Paper. Cash awards total over $4,000 including a Juror’s Award. All accepted artworks will be included in a show at the Brand Gallery or as part of a virtual show (depending on pandemic restrictions) and in both printed and online exhibition catalogs. We recognize the toll that the last year has taken on artists around the country and know that artists now more than ever want an opportunity for their work to be seen and celebrated. This year we are removing financial barriers to Brand 49 with entrance fees that are greatly reduced and, if necessary, waived completely."

I will be flying out to Glendale the weekend of September 11th to attend the opening reception! I am very excited and honored to have a piece from my newest series accepted into the exhibition, and I look forward to seeing all of the other amazing works collected for the show as well.
