I have a headcanon that Sanji struggles with wanting/asking for non-sexual intimacy from Zoro. So if he's having a rough day or just wants to be held by the man he loves he'll initiate sex in order to feel that connection, regardless of whether he's actually in the mood. But Zoro's gotten unnervingly good at telling when he's doing this and redirecting to give him what he actually needs in that moment.

Sanji who one day realizes how Zoro’s earrings are off limits. For others.

They’re on a bar with some others of the crew just trying to relax while Zoro of course is focused on the booze. There’s a guy flirting (more like trying) with Zoro, but he the Moss couldn’t seem less interested focusing on the booze in his hand.

Then the guy tries to touch Zoro’s earrings on a flirting matter and Sanji just watches from the corner of his eyes while the ladies also went quiet. Zoro grabs the guys wrist before he could even properly approach his face.

‘Hands. Off. They’re not for touching.’

Of course the guy apologizes and leaves, Nami and Robin with a small smile and raised eyebrows.

The thing is, Sanji has touched those same earrings innumerable times. With his fingers while stroking Zoro’s hair, pulling when he’s annoying him, and biting or licking when the situation calls for it.

Of course he’s seen Luffy touch them too, but that’s a given. That’s Luffy. He plays with them to make little tink tink sounds and also gently touches them when Zoro naps in his lap.

Not that he has seen anyone else in the crew touch them, and neither does Sanji thinks that Zoro would have a problem with that. But still.

He tries his best to resume his conversation with the ladies while still side eyeing Zoro while he finishes his drink.

They don’t really talk about it. Zoro knows that the Cook heard. And he’s more than fine with that. Talking was rarely their thing, but well, if he knew, he knew.
