Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes

Okay… I don’t really know how to start this. There’s this book, which, as I’m sure you’ve guessed, is called Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes, by Jonathan Auxier, AKA pnahfe (I tried to capitalize that but it looked weird next to the all caps AKA so I’m leaving it like that) and it’s so so so so so so so good. But like literally no one’s read it. My cousin gave me this book a few years ago, and I loved it so much! So I went in the internet, and I was like, I bet there’s a huge fandom for this, there’s gotta be, since it’s so good! But nope. Like only 5 people have read it in the whole world, which is ridiculous! It’s a beautifully written fast-paced adventure story, and there’s something about the way it’s told that’s very fresh and indescribably delicious, as with all great books. I was upset that the book had no fandom, but I didn’t do anything at the time. But now I want to start a fandom, because I realized I can’t let the world be deprived of the beauty that is the Peter Nimble series. Yes, it’s a series, the second book is even better. I‘m really not very good at all at summaries, so even if it sound terrible based on this, don’t give up on it, please. Basically, it’s about this blind boy named Peter who’s a great thief working for this terrible man names Mr. Seamus, who he’s forced to steal for. One day, Peter is thieving when he stumbles upon a mysterious man who triggers a series of events in Peter’s life that change everything for him, and send him off on an incredible adventure with his new friend to a strange land, where he risks his life to become a hero, and fulfill his destiny. Okay. I’m not very happy with how that turned out, but I guess it’s good enough. Please, guys, I’m begging you, just read through this book. It’s amazing, and I know you’ll love the story and characters as much as I do if you give it a chance!

gohan is the funniest ever version of a burnt out gifted kid because the thing he’s burnt out on is having superpowered martial arts abilities. by every other metric he’s a very stable and successful adult man but nobody in his life except his wife and mother care about that shit, and they all call him a washed up loser because he doesn’t want to shoot energy beams at aliens anymore.

Reasons why airports are like roguelikes:

- constantly repeating the same loop (pack, leave home, TSA, etc)

- dependent on factors you can visit either new areas or see old ones

- varied builds each time (stuff in your bags) with certain favorites you keep revisiting (things you always bring)

- states for success (board plane) and failure (get kicked out of airport)

- repeated runs build muscle memory and better understanding of mechanics (did my TSA check in record time)
