Salmon of knowledge crios on the loom!
Traditional Irish crios (belt) based on the story of the salmon of knowledge who lived in the Boyne, the river made when the goddess Boann looked into the ségais well, where the nine hazel trees drop there acorns into the water. The salmon eats the acorns and grow fat on all the knowledge of the world. The wisest man of Ireland Fineagas searched for the salmon for years only for a young Fionn Mac Cumhaill to show up at the last minute burn his thumb on the oil of the fish and in sticking it in his mouth accidentally granting himself infinite knowledge, but only while sucking his thumb.

Made a crios (traditional Irish belt) for this little fisher doll to complete their outfit!
I'll be taking them to markets when I do crios weaving demonstrations. Thinking about making some little pampooties and a currach for them too!

Bidding is open on this belt to support the National Nordic Museum in their annual Northern lights auction! Bidding closes May 4th 5pm PDT!

Bifröst! Current weaving on my inkle loom! I'll be donating this one to the National Nodric Museums annual Northern lights auction in a month. Inspired by the famous rainbow bridge from Norse mythology.
I'm using the baltic pick up technique for the pattern but I'm using a much thicker worsted weight yarn because that's what I have from weaving criossanna which use a thicker yarn than is generally used in the nordic regions.
