Sometimes we need someone to simply be there

Not to fix anything or to do anything in particular

But just to let us feel that we are cared for and supported

So I’ve recently rewatched all of Code Geass, as well as the remake summary movies. And for anyone that has forgotten, (which I had forgotten as well) Shirley dies in the original tv anime of Code Geass. However Shirley is clearly alive even by the end of Zero Requiem in Code Geass Episode III – Oudou (the movie).
“Why?” A major event doesn’t occur in the movie, that slowly causes a chain of events that leads to Shirley’s death. Mao, the Geass user who could listen to everyone’s thoughts, the same person who tried to kill Nunnally and make C.C. more “compact,” does not appear in the movies. Shirley’s dad is never killed by Zero, and so she has no reason to hate Zero/Lelouch. In the movie version, it is Diethard (the crazy cameraman that keep changing sides) who shoots Viletta by the docks, and not Shirley that shoots Viletta. In the tv anime, this is also the same scene where Shirley finds out Lelouch’s secret identity of being Zero for the first time.
However because these key moments are different, Shirley isn’t killed by Rolo in the movies, and instead makes contact with C.C. privately in the 3rd movie. With all this said, please think of the remake movies (and the future Resurrection movie) as an alternate timeline, where Shirley doesn’t die. The original Code Geass (where Shirley dies) was written and made to end after Zero Requiem. It was not meant to have a sequel. However through this “AU” alternate timeline looking glass, we get to see a “what if” scenario, which will be entertaining regardless. Even if the new movie Knightmares will all be in 3D.
I’m looking forward to how Shirley’s interaction with C.C, and now her working together with Jeremiah will be part of Lelouch’s Re;surrection. And bless Jeremiah’s farm name “Justice Gentlemen Orange Farm.”
