I think every pizza/kebab place that stays open late on the weekends has seen somebody drunk off their tits literally weep from joy because what they're currently eating is like the best thing they've ever eaten in their life.

Starting a new religion. I'm not sure about the belief system yet, but the temples need to include obstacle courses of dangerous death traps that need to keep working for at least 2,000 years.

Some rules in society are so-called "idiot rules" that are only in place for idiots. The Thing You're Not Supposed To Do can be done safely, but since an idiot can't do it, they have to officially prohibit it from everyone. And if you do fuck it up and end up eating shit, you're best off dusting yourself off, hoping that nobody saw you, and never tell anyone that you even tried, so they won't find out that you're an idiot.

Tumblr is odd because you’ll see a mutual post something really profound like “the birds still sing for those who listen” and you see them 5 minutes later saying something like “need to be pegged.grilled cheese style”

I think the big issue with the mutant metaphor or other such attempts at allegory for diverse characters in the modern day is that you can now tell stories about racism with black people. It isn't the 60s anymore where the comics code authority was very cautious about that kind of thing. You can put gay people in a comic. Scott Summers does not need to experience fictionalised racism anymore, you can actually center on the people with those experiences. And as we do get more stories by black authors and by queer authors, both those about oppression and those that are not, it becomes increasingly ludicrous that the mutant metaphor actually has any use, particularly when it increasingly becomes treated as the only axis of oppression that matters with intersectional characters.
These kinds of metaphors and analogies had their use in a time where the kinds of stories you could tell were more regulated, but it is the year 2025 and I do not need to see Rogue go like "Wow, I can't believe they made a MUTANTPHOBIC HORROR MOVIE 😱😱😱" as if this is the first and worst time this has ever happened. I find it really obnoxious but equally I don't really know how they could fix it. Like, the metaphor has served its purpose. We can move on now. But the iconography of the characters remain and you can't really separate it from them, even when it becomes ever more unwieldy in a post-comics code authority comic book world.

A story where someone is brought back from the dead, and at first it seems like it's all Came Back Wrong: This is no longer the person that the people around her knew - she has the same memories as she did in life, knows the same people and has the same skills and habits, but she says things that she never would have in her life. Harsh, cruel, and frightening things. There is no more peace in the house because of the things she tells people, picking at wounds in the household with surgical presicion.
When asked why she must be like this, and why she cannot just be the kind and gentle person she was before - the one they loved and wanted back so badly that they broke the laws of nature to return her to life - she tells them that they should not have done that. This household will never know peace again until either she dies again or someone else in the family does.
She is still the same person, with the same thoughts and feelings. Only one thing has changed: The dead cannot lie.

According to old finnish folklore, having a wild animal wander into your house is an omen of death. The bigger the animal, the more imminent the death. A small bird, like a sparrow or a finch, is a sign that someone who lives in the house will die within the year. If the animal that has somehow made its way inside the house is a small mammal like a hedgehog, or a larger bird like an owl or raven, would mean that death is coming to visit in the next few months.
Massive megafauna, like a fully-grown moose or a bear, is a sign that someone will probably die within the next 20 minutes.

“Ugh this prominent women in the Lesbian movement turned out to be a bisexual” “ugh this famous lesbian transitioned into a man” “ugh this queer romance writer turns out to be ace” “ugh this cis feminist author ended up being nonbinary” “ugh this writer on masculinity transitioned into a woman”
Oh no! We might have to recognize liberation as an interconnected intersectional struggle! Ahhh!!! >.<

Imagine being in one of those friend groups where everyone roasts each other as playful banter and one time you make a joke at somebody and they just go dead serious and say "you know, sometimes I regret talking you out of killing yourself." And refuses to elaborate. And nobody will ever believe you when you swear on your life that you have no idea what the hell they were talking about.
