Don’t know how else to push this, at least not without blowing up my iPad, so just gonna post this latest version. It’s been a fun exercise!

Lighting time! Jank, but I kinda like it. Meant to try color thumbs in IbisPaint, instead color picked and winged it with gradients, airbrushes, and layer blend modes.

Now with some colors! The values turned out pretty ok. Contrast is still a struggle for me ^_^;
Got to this point in 5(!) days. Granted that was with the learning curve of a new software and first real attempt at hand-drawn animation. So some notes:
Get timing and volume down in the beginning! It’ll save a lot a backtracking/redoing during in-betweens.
Work large to small wrt to working out timing. E.g. determine overall animation length, then refine with most important to least important frames; key poses > (extremes?) > breakdowns > in-betweens. This applies to pose-to-pose animation.
Couple things I’d try differently are 1) plotting arcs of intersecting lines before committing to an in-between and 2) keeping/checking line angles are consistent between drawings before moving to the next in-between. A lot of my grief was redoing things in the in-between stage haha. These things, along with keeping volume consistent, will prevent a lot of wonky animation I think.
Toggling off anti-aliasing for the line brush! Then I could color with 1 tap. Gonna have to take extra steps to color this.
Ok so this took about 34 hours..yow.. but that’s an average illustration experiment for me so not too surprised actually
