Thou Art With Child?!
Chapter 6- Past Meets the Present
A/N: I’M HERE!! TAKE IT!! TAKE ALL THE SUSTENANCE YOU NEED MY FLOCK
But on a serious note, I’m doing okay, I was just living my life and taking tech classes this year! Gotta keep my brain educated by whatever I want to learn about!
Now, let’s see if they truly love you or not lmao

Being immortal has its advantages and drawbacks. The enemies to defeat, the villages and kingdoms to protect, the cookies to cherish. Yet all came with a price. All came with the fact nothing will ever last forever, not as long as them at least.
That’s why they hold onto the moments they experience throughout their lives. From royalty to simple villagers that show their kindness towards them, none seemed to be more important than the ones with you.
“I was inspired by the thought of insects being trapped within tree sap along the trees of the village I grew up in,” You babbled on with a smile. It was another visit from the Ancients after months of you taking them in, and your social skills were on overdrive.
“The true magic deep inside the Earthbread we live on has so much potential to be used by magic wielders,” You held up a ball of amber that contained an old jelly worm that was curled into a ball, as if it was still asleep.
“Indeed, look how precious the encased insects are, as if they were trapped in the moment,” White Lily smiled softly, sitting elegantly on the grass as the other ancients formed a half circle to listen to your ranting, the most they heard out of you.
“It all about preserving the smallest moments we share, the tiniest of what we deemed to be background memories will always be precious to us,” Your voice grew softer, avoiding eye contact, “That’s what the magic I wield feels to me,” It was your escape, your way of connection to the outside world.
“Such strong words! I bet all the travelers you took in shared similar wisdom!” Golden Cheese cookie beamed, smirking when she saw you lose composure a little, face heating up a little.
“Yes, you take such good care of us, (Name) cookie!” Hollyberry cookie boasted, jumping up and sweeping you into a hug. You spluttered and instinctively leaned your head onto her chest.
“A-Ah!! Yes!” You, gulped hard, “O-only the best for a-a cookie such as yourself! Y-you are the heroes of Earthbread after all!” You let out a nervous laugh, before stopping due to your social skills faltering
“My friend,” He tilted his head, “You do know we cherish every moment with you,” You smile froze, face getting hotter at his confession. Your heart beating faster as he smiled, oh goodness, his smile.
“R-Really…?” You stammered. Oh crumbs, how can these cookies make you such emotions for merely a few months?! How hopeless can you be?
“Of course, you have your heart on your sleeve, never once turning a cookie away, and your compassion?” White Lily cookie’s words were filled with admiration and gratitude.
“Your hospitality is more than we ever expected, despite our constant injuries you never once made us feel unwelcome,” Dark Cacao cookie gruffed out, those rare smiles forming on his face that made you internally warm until a loud rumble came from a certain cookie.
“Now… about those jelly pies,” Golden Cheese cookie sheepishly ruffled her feathers, her greed combined with her hunger she resisted the urge to simply take those delectable treats you made for herself.
“I-I’ll be right back with the pies then!” You managed to squirm out of Hollyberry’s grip and stumbled around, before gaining control and running into your cottage, leaving the Ancients sitting under the shade as the sun began to set.
“They always seemed to be eager to take care of others despite their introverted nature,” Pure Vanilla cookies finally spoke up, laughing gently when he saw you through the window slipping and almost dropping the pies.
“Such a clumsy cookie! Reminds me of those tiny jelly deers!” Hollyberry cookie laughed, rubbed the back of her neck at the comparison of does and you stumbling around.
“And to think they never actually left this forest? Their village?” Golden Cheese cookie shook her head as if not believing you had never had the courage or greed to explore Earthbread.
“Even I have to admit, it’s quite strange for not having an ounce of curiosity,” Coming from Dark Cacao cookie, then it was truly intriguing that you weren’t even curious as to what was out there, or at least you don’t show bravery.
“Maybe we should surprise them with an offer of taking them with us to adventures?” White Lily cookie suggested hopefully, rubbing her hand along the ball of amber she still held when you gave it to her.
“Yes, wonderful idea! We shall ask them later, but let’s ease them slowly, they get defensive the moment leaving is involved,” Pure Vanilla clapped his hands with joy, just as when you arrived outside. You held three pies with one arm and the other plates and forks.
White Lily and Dark Cacao cookie races to help you while Golden Cheese immediately snatched the pies and flew off, Hollyberry cookie chasing her. Pure Vanilla’s smile softened at the scene, seeing how you smiled, that bright yet nervous smile you wore the moment you met.
“A remarkable cookie you are, (Name) cookie. We won’t ever forget you,”
꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂ ꧁꧂ ꧁꧂ ꧁꧂ ꧁
Time slipped through the Ancients’s dough so easily, so thoughtlessly and limited yet they never waste such precious moments forgetting the cookies they met throughout the centuries.
Yet they still remember faces of those who were once by their side, those who they truly cared, the one they regret leaving in such a state. They still can see your face so clearly.
Unfortunately, as they always were, the Ancients did not communicate their same theory, but instead snuck off to order their companions to search for any more of the magic encased amber, or maybe even…
“It’s been days…” Pure Vanilla cookie mumbled to himself, rubbing the base of his staff with worry, “She should’ve returned any moment now,” He felt ashamed for yet again hiding his emotions to his friends, but if what he believes is true, then-
“Who should return any moment?” The gentle and soft voice he knew all to well was right behind him, causing his body to jolt forward and voice lets out a startled yelp.
“White Lily cookie!! N-nothing important!” He spluttered, giving a smile at White Lily cookie, before hiding the letter behind his back. She furrowed her eyebrows, taking a step closer.
“Seems to me it was definitely important,” Panic settles in him even more when Dark Cacao appeared out of nowhere, also curious as to why Pure Vanilla cookie was sweating bullets.
“Nothing really!” The healer backed away to the doors, before hitting a hard surface, and looking up to see Hollyberry cookie, who raised an eyebrow before her eyes drift down to the letter.
“Yoink!” She laughed and snatched the letter from his hands, making him panic as Golden Cheese cookie also flew in, not wanting to be left out.
Pure Vanilla cookie then gave up, knowing the jig was up as they read the letter, which was a request for Black Raisin cookie to go find the magic source.
“You sent a companion to find the location?” Dark Cacao cookie asked, looking up, “That’s what I did!” Hollyberry grinned, causing the others to stare at her too in shock.
“I knew it! You sent your little warriors to track down that magic!” Golden Cheese cookie accused, “And you didn’t think to tell anyone here? And I thought I was greedy,” She crossed her arms and huffed, shaking her head at her friend, feeling offended.
“Your statements are invalid since you sent your own solider out there too!” Hollyberry cookie retorted, laughing at the hypocrisy from the sovereign.
“It seemed we all sent a warrior to investigate, others not trusting either of us,” Dark Cacao cookie gruffed out, staring intently at them while the others all groaned and complained about him being the least trusting.
“Everyone sent someone…?” White Lily cookie tilted her head, now feeling left out since she didn’t had a companion to send, as they were in Beast-Yeast.
“Friends, please!” Pure Vanilla tried to calm them down, “I admit, I did sent Black Raisin cookie to scout for any more traces of amber without your knowledge, but we cannot fight about it!” Now that the truth was out, he can no longer avoid the confrontation.
“If our theories are true, if it’s truly them… then we must not let this tear us apart! Our mistakes, our past… if we can manage to save one cookie from what happened long ago, then we must give them what we couldn’t give them before,” Pure Vanilla cookie’s words made all of them to wince and look away.
“Pure Vanilla cookie is right, the moment our loyal soldiers all arrive, we shall hold a great feast! I’m sure the Crème Republic don’t mind if I share some Hollyberrian recipes,” Hollyberry said hopefully, knowing that she had berry juice already ready and hidden from Wildberry.
“I still believe this might be one of Dark Enchantress cookie’s tricks, sending us a message that our past is hers too,” He had faith in many things that always failed him, so putting faith in the possible chance of seeing you again?
“I don’t know…” She whispered, “It’s not impossible for a cookie to survive this long without a soul jam like ours…” Strawberry Crepe cookie also survived that long from being cryogenically frozen, so seeing you…
“And I suppose that they had survived through what? As great as a mage they were, their magic was nowhere near as powerful as other magic wielders,” Golden Cheese didn’t wish to be blunt, but the thought of you still being here, she didn’t want hope yet.
“Nonsense! From the years I’ve known them, their magic is truly one of a kind!” Hollyberry cookie reassured her with one of her infamous hugs, her own heart reassuring her too.
“They truly were such a nervous yet resilient cookie,” White Lily cookie giggled softly, hand covering her mouth, “Remember how excited they were when I gifted them more books?” She remembered how your eyes lit up in fascination at a book simply about animals and beasts, yet you couldn’t put it down.
“And that time when a wild jelly worm stole their crops and they tried to lay a trap?” Pure Vanilla cookie couldn’t help but pipe up, his hand on his cheek as his face heats up from the memory.
“Only for them to get caught later,” Dark Cacao cookie added, a rare smile on his face that distracted him from the thoughts of the chance of you being a trap.
The Ancients all laughed at the memory of them finding you upside down with a carrot stuck in your mouth and a jelly worm eating your veggies. They didn’t let you live it down for months.
Their worries and tension disappeared the moment they reminisced the memories of you. No other cookies seemed to stop any further arguments more than you did, you always did have that sort of charm.
Meanwhile, being the nosy cookies they were, five heads were peering into the small gap between the doors, trying to listen in.
“What do you think this magic source is?” Gingerbrave pondered to his friends, who were all quickly hushed him and leaned closer.
“If I have to guess, it’s a WHO and not a WHAT,” Wizard cookie corrected Gingerbrave, “Why hold a feast for a magic source if not from a cookie?” He asked, pushing back away from the door to stand up properly.
“You think it’s someone they know?” Strawberry cookie tugged at her hoodie strings. If they were cautious and antsy from a chunk of magic encased rocks, then it must’ve been something serious.
“I bet they’re a good friend to the Ancients if they talk so highly of them!” Custard cookie III beamed, continuing to listen to the Ancients reminiscing on stories.
“Pssh, if they don’t have any precious jewels, I ain’t interested!” Chili Pepper cookie scoffed, arms crossed and leaning her back onto the wall. Just as when they began to speak again, they all jumped when a sudden voice spoke up behind them.
“What is this little squabble that they are having?” Clotted Cream cookie held his arms behind his back, curious as to why the Ancients and the little gang in front of him were being strange lately.
“Clotted Cream cookie!” Gingerbrave grinned, looking up at the Consul, “The Ancients were discussing about the magic source that was inside that amber Olive cookie brought here!” He explained, spinning in a chair with a smile.
“Ah yes, I’ve had Expresso cookie inspect such an ethereal rock,” Clotted Cream cookie hummed, guiding the group of cookies away. Despite being busy for anything, Expresso cookie was quite intrigued upon seeing a great reaction from the magic to his own.
“I’ve personally wondered if what you said is correct about this source being a cookie, how exactly is this cookie in such importance that the Ancients would send their warriors in secret,” It’s a mystery to what is important to the Ancients and what drives their power and strength.
“Whatever or whoever it is, it sure got the Ancients worked up!” Custard cookie laughed, waving his staff around and motioned to the open door down the hall.
“I wonder who it-,” Wizard cookie was cut off when a loud slam of grand doors burst open, heavy and rapid footsteps pushing into the tiles, causing all to freeze.
“HURRY!!” The sudden booming echoed through the halls, causing Gingerbrave and the others to snap their heads to the sound. Financier cookie was right behind the Ancients’ warriors, Wildberry holding pale and shaking cookie.
“We need a healer, NOW!!” Financier cookie shouted at Clotted Cream cookie, who hurriedly ushered the younger cookies to stay in the room. Immediately, nurse cookies were by their side, quickly and gently grabbing the injured cookie in their arms and onto a gurney.
“W-what’s happening?” Custard cookie III shrunk back and hugged Chili Pepper cookie’s leg. She said nothing but instinctively placed a hand on his head while Strawberry cookie shrunk behind Wizard cookie and Gingerbrave.
From across the hall, the closed doors still allowed sound from the outside for one of the Ancients to trail off and listen.
“Do you hear that?” Golden Cheese cookie’s head faced the door, making the others stop telling stories and acknowledge the sound.
“That sounds like Caramel Arrow cookie,” Dark Cacao cookie sat up from his seat, hand instinctively reaching for his sword. The sounds of footsteps sounded frantic and urging, something was wrong.
“Ha! They have returned!” Hollyberry cookie beamed, already grinning and ready to swing the doors open, but White Lily cookie felt dread suddenly when a scared voice of Clotted Cream cookie boomed.
“Get the best healers in here! We have a severely injured cookie in our care!” He commanded, tossing a blanket over the injured cookie, already seeing jam seeping through, the wound opened again.
“I-Injured?” The Ancients all looked at one another before rushing to the doors and opening them, just as the nurses and doctor cookies rushed past them, and Pure Vanilla’s eyes caught the sight of one carrying a cookie covered in the blanket.
Peaking out from the blanket was a limp arm with cracked dough.
“Pure Vanilla cookie!” Black Raisin cookie caught up to the crowd, behind her were the other soldiers, Wildberry and Crunchy Chip were panting heavily, Caramel Arrow didn’t dare to make eye contact and Smoked Cheese cookie was gasping for air from running.
“My boy, Wildberry cookie! What happened?” Hollyberry rushed over to her soldier’s side, but was caught off guard to see the stoic face of Wildberry become an agitated and almost frightened look.
“Deepest apologies, Queen Mother…” He mustered out, his gauntlet turning into a fist. Golden Cheese cookie demanded what happened from Smoked Cheese cookie, who didn’t know what to say in his usual remarks.
Pure Vanilla cookie comforted Black Raisin cookie, who was petting her crow to sooth herself from the worry in her stomach. One look from Dark Cacao cookie made Crunchy Chip cookie to look away, and only Caramel Arrow cookie collapsed on her knee.
“I-I’m sorry! Please forgive me, your majesty!” She bowed her head in shame, “I shot an arrow! A-and it was aimed towards Affogato cookie-!” She explained rapidly, where her king quickly calmed her down, before the name she spoke made him pause.
“Affogato cookie?” His eyes became clouded with an unreadable emotion. That traitor hasn’t been mentioned in forever, not since the attack on the Black Citadel and his cowardice retreat. What has that traitor been doing?
“That scum was controlling the magic source!!” Crunchy Chip finally blurted out, his anger more visible. The others began to stumble out agreements, overlapping each other with their perspectives on the ambush.
“We wanted a peaceful and orderly approach, yet Affogato cookie didn’t let us near them,” Wildberry cookie shook his head, ashamed to let his Majesty and Ancients down. Golden Cheese cookie grabbed Smoked Cheese cookie’s shoulder and gave him a worried look.
“What did you find? Was it truly-?” She was cut off when White Lily cookie lets out a gasp, and they all rushed forward to the room the doctors took the injured cookie, who was uncovered to be examined.
“It’s them…” She whispered, covering her mouth with tears welling up in her eyes.
“It is-,” Dark Cacao cookie’s hand trembled, his hand off his sword, subconsciously reaching out before stopping himself.
“(Name) cookie?!” Gingerbrave and his friends all gasped in shock.
“It’s really them!” The brave cookie whispered frantically to Strawberry cookie. Custard cookie III jumped up and down, his fears slightly lowering while clutching the leg of the thief cookie.
“I thought they were simply a fable!” Wizard cookie out of respect took off his wizard hat and placed it on his chest.
“Woah!” Chili Pepper cookie patted the young king’s head, “A hottie too…” She mumbled before checking to see if anyone else heard her.
Finally, the Ancients snapped out of their shock, immediately running to see you, but a doctor cookie stopped them the moment they tried to get inside the room they occupied in.
“My apologies, but we need as much space as possible! This doesn’t look good!” He said sternly, other nurse cookies began to crush herbs and use their own magic to try and close the wound.
“Nonsense!” Golden Cheese cookie barked back, “They’re our closest friend! Pure Vanilla and White Lily can easily heal them like that!” She argued while pushing the two healers in front.
“Please, let me see them,” Pure Vanilla begged, but the doctor shook his head with a heavy sigh.
“I’m afraid this is more than physical wounds,” He explained, “Seems to me that this cookie has been fighting themselves mentally in trying to stay alive or not,” That made every cookie out of the hall stagger, frozen at those words.
“They have been mumbling throughout our race back here, about letting go?” Black Raisin cookie mustered out, her raisin crow cawing sadly and nuzzling against her neck.
“More jam is seeping through!! They’re crashing!!” The nurse cookies shouted for the doctor. The doctor furrowed his eyebrows and gave them all a stern yet sympathetic stare.
“I’m sorry, but you lot stay out!!” With loud slams, the doors were shut, leaving the crowd of cookies standing in the grand halls. No one dared to speak, only the shuddering breathing of Pure Vanilla cookie, the look between Hollyberry and Golden Cheese cookie, and the whimper of White Lily cookie.
“Caramel Arrow cookie…” Dark Cacao’s low voice made the First Watcher to stiffen. The tone was something she never heard before, and she quickly bowed.
“Affogato cookie,” He turned his head ever so slightly, “Where is he?” Emotions surged through his dough, one that was all too familiar. Rage. Caramel Arrow cookie opened her mouth, but closed it, not trusting her voice.
“Gone. That copycat escaped Wildberry cookie’s grasp and disappeared from his smoke, taking a baby with him,” Smoked Cheese cookie finally gruffed out, saving the First Watcher and feeling as if his own spells were stolen from that caffeine cookie.
He jolted when the Ancients’ eyes snapped towards him. Their companions all instinctively stepped away from Smoked Cheese cookie, before Pure Vanilla cookie raised a shaky and trembling hand, eyes filled with shock.
“Baby…?”
꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂ ꧁꧂ ꧁꧂ ꧁꧂ ꧁
“My generation never told me of such cookie,” Clotted Cream cookie mumbled, “If you don’t mind, Gingerbrave, who is this (Name) cookie?” Two days past of endless reckless commotions from Ancients and cookies alike, and finally it died down once you began to gain your crisp dough color back.
Clotted Cream cookie stood next to Gingerbrave and his gang, watching the Ancients intently talking that lasted for the two days while you were in care.
“Apparently, (Name) cookie was a great magic wielder that was so powerful they were very close to the Ancients!” He excitedly said, bouncing on one foot to the other.
“Their magic was nothing any other cookie has seen before, some say they were blessed by the wizards themselves!” Wizard cookie was close to squealing, but managed to compose himself.
“There’s plays about them and songs created to soothe dragons to sleep!” Strawberry cookie’s eyes sparkled in admiration, tugging at her hoodie strings some more.
“Heard they were more valuable than any diamonds and jewels!” Chili Pepper cookie smirked and made a motion of tossing a bag of coins in her hands.
“And not only that, but they saved the lives of the Ancients several times! To think what strong cookie they would be as my subject! I could even appoint them as my bodyguard!” Custard cookie III happily twirled his staff.
“Hey, I thought I was your bodyguard! Ain’t being paid for nothing, ya know,” A bark from Chili Pepper made him sheepishly shrug. Clotted Cream cookie listened to their words, closing his eyes and humming softly.
“Interesting…” He whispered to himself, “As powerful as an Ancient, huh?” His eyes drifted to the guarded door that contained you and doctors, before walking up to Financier cookie.
“Consul, we must discuss if this new direction of action immediately,” She suggested while bowing, her hand at her sword at all times.
“Indeed, which is why I have you stand guard at this door, Financier cookie. To keep the Ancients at bay,” Clotted Cream nodded, “It seems to me that, that cookie awakened something in them,” And seen what they can do with their soul jams, he needs to put the Crème Republic’s safety first.
“Yes, Consul,” She bowed again and kept watch at the door. The Consul waved goodbye to the smaller group of cookies before walking off, leaving them to discuss what happened within the past month of the Ancients acting weird.
“They’ve been pacing around in there even longer for the past few days,” Gingerbrave sighed, legs crossed while trying to listen to the semi-loud muffled voices of the Ancients and their warriors. His friends were all sitting around in the room as if waiting for an appointment.
“I can’t believe it! The actual (Name) cookie! I’ve only heard stories and songs of how powerful they once were! And to think they survived in their own magic!” Wizard cookie felt like he was about to explode, all giddy before when he was inspecting that magic filled amber, now the user was alive and real!
“Yeah… but they’re also clinging to life,” Strawberry cookie reminded him, “I just hope they’re okay,” That made Wizard cookie deflate, feeling shame for not focusing on the serious issues.
“Psssh, I say that’s weak sauce! All those years and one arrow took them out!” Chili Pepper cookie hummed, before getting elbowed by Gingerbrave and she lets out a quiet “what?!”
“GAH!! Custard cookie!! What are you doing?!” They all jumped at Wizard cookie’s shrill voice, seeing Custard cookie III shimmying his way onto a windowsill, causing all to panic.
“I’m going to investigate! It’s only right for us to know what’s happening!” The small cookie said as if it was obvious, his little legs kicking as he then squeaked in fear at the sudden height of the city below.
“Not through the window!!” Chili Pepper cookie immediately snatched him in her arms, before quickly pushing her back against the wall when she realized she was also standing outside at the railing.
“YIKES!!” The three raced to try and catch them from falling, when Custard cookie III smiled again.
“Great! Now the five of us can sneak in!” He chirped happily, as if he wasn’t afraid a few seconds earlier.
“We are NOT sneaking into the room of a powerful mage that can destroy us with a snap of their fingers if they wake up!!” Wizard cookie shook his head and made a cross with his arms over his chest.
“Yeah!! Sorry Custard cookie, but we have to go back!!” Chili Pepper shook her head, making sure he won’t slip from her arms. Custard cookie III proceeded to clasp his hands together and pouted.
“Please?” He begged, giving the biggest eyes no cookie can ever resist. Wizard cookie was about to sternly refuse, until his unfortunately brave friend gave him a thumbs up.
“Welp, I’m sold!” Gingerbrave smiled, quickly convinced, “WHAT?!” Wizard cookie screeched when he saw Gingerbrave easily sliding out of the window and joining the others on the railing, ignoring the spluttering of the young cookie.
“Don’t bother, Wizard cookie. He’s not changing his mind,” Strawberry sighed, patting his shoulder before sliding out too. Wizard cookie stammered some more, until he slumped his shoulders in defeat, following the group as they were now holding onto the wall, facing at the city below.
“Get going, Tiny! We ain’t going to stand here all day!” Chili Pepper cookie barked at Custard cookie III, who beamed and shimmied his way to the side. If a cookie citizen would look up at the Republic spiral, they would see five cookies sneaking on a perch railing to get to another window.
The young king managed to sneak over to the window to your healing room, where it easily slid open and quickly he jumped inside. Chili Pepper cookie followed, then Gingerbrave, then Strawberry cookie, and finally Wizard cookie who almost screeched when he slipped and fell inside.
“Dough up, Pointy Hat, we’ve been through worst,” Chili Pepper cookie smirked at him, before being hushed by Gingerbrave, “Financier cookie is still guarding their door outside, we can’t let her hear us,” He said quietly.
“They don’t look so good at all,” Mumbled Strawberry cookie, worriedly looking at how pale your dough was, “And to think the stories that were told about them, only to see that they’re… fighting internally about waking up,” She didn’t want to think about it anymore.
The five all surrounded the bed, Custard cookie III hopping out of Chili Pepper’s arms to crawl on the bed, straddling your legs to get a closer look. You didn’t look well, but at least you looked better than what you looked like getting carried in the Republic.
“Poor (Name) cookie, I can’t imagine how long they’re going to be like this?” Gingerbrave frowned. He loved his friends too, and can’t imagine seeing them in a state like this.
But… it seemed like you were more than friends to the Ancients.
That was when you woke with a gasp.

A/N: No, Affogato didn’t run off with your baby, he’s out there though! Waiting… watching… yearning-
Also, notice how what the Gingerbrave gang say about you? Seems a little over exaggerated? Because it is lmao.

My take on y/n cookie: Lavender Sparrow Cookie

I tried to go for a more masculine design seeing as how many tend to lean on the more effeminate side of things (just a note) as well as tried to make them look like either an ambush cookie or magic user, again to add a bit of flair lol
YESSSSS FINALLY A MASC DESIGN LETS GOOOOOO

I love this so much! (No hate to the fem designs they all slay)
I also love the little outfit Calico is wearing, I already have little doodles of Calico growing up and what they wear AAAGGGHHHH it’s like watching your own child grow up 😭
And I also definitely see Reader being in a magic class as well lol

With their speciality in healing/support magic i like to imagine yn cookie is just straight up immune to affogato's shenanigans, also if they do get a staff i picture it just being a random stick they found
DONT HURT ME IM OKAY-
Anyways-
Glad you brought it up, because in chapter 4 I believe, it was implied that Affogato was already setting up his incense for the past days before the ambush happened.
I also like the thought of that if (Name) cookie was a playable in the game, they could be either a magic or healer, since there’s too many support cookies already lmao
It said that it wasn’t taking effect on Reader as much as it did with Dark Cacao cookie blinding his judgement and coherent thoughts, but instead made Reader feel more calmer and safe.
So Reader being immune might not be all that wrong, but let’s see the full effects next chapter (WHICH I WILL UPDATE I PROMISE DONT JUMP ME)
Also Reader getting a staff in the future and it being just a stick would be funny. Any other staffs a cookie has is cool and powerful, and you’re just out here looking like Harry Potter swinging a stick around (which most likely blast a hole into a mountain but that’s for another time-)

I've been thinking about the situation surrounding Dough baby's creation and that whole things gotta be traumatising, right?? Like the hurt from rejection, the worry for the ancients battle, the concern and joy surrounding Doughys creation, the grief of watching your friends die and then watching your own life flash before your eyes??? So close together?? Have you considered how that might have affected the reader insert, like imagine having nightmares of being too slow and your newborn baby being killed, and so we are constantly checking on our baby??? I kinda wanna see the trauma surrounding all of that explored and how it might affect our relationships with other cookies that try to parent Doughy. Just a thought.
Oh Ho ho ho ho, you think I didn’t notice either? It’s coming, every single emotion will flood and break the dam of emotional repression! >:)
Oh yeah, Reader is going to have some major issues after everything that happened so far, and to the potential confrontation of Hollyberry and Dark Cacao wanting another chance to help raise Calico only for Reader to find out their failed parenting with Dark Choco and Royal Berry???
OOOOOO THE ANGST WILL BE COMING
As much as a wreck Reader will probably be, that won’t ever stop them from being who they are, a mortal cookie with their heart on their sleeve and arms out for anyone. Heart too big for their own good, yet it helps them be a powerful mage user.
Any other cookie wishing to be with them and parent Calico? Take a ticket and wait in line, cuz there’s a whole lot of cookies wishing the same thing 😏

Honestly can not eait for the yandere tag to show its head, oml I cannot wait for the ancients to see the baddie again, and the whole flashback sequence was so good, made my heart ache as they bonded with each of the ancients ToT
And I must ask: is there a potential we can get an ancient's POV at some point? Thatd be dope
I can’t to write the yandere tag too, gotta get the Ancients go crazy for the baddie ya know 😏
Since I was writing Affogato for a few chapters, I had to add moments with the Ancients to get an attachment with Reader so it’ll be somewhat more emotional later.
As of the POV for the Ancients? Well, you’re in luck because it’ll be the next chapter! Since Reader is in a limbo right now, the spotlight will be on other cookies, so don’t worry!

Thou Art With Child?!
Chapter 5- Winner Takes it All
A/N: Working overtime between this story and finishing the next chapter for my Batfam story because I felt bad lol
Then I realized yall can wait-

You knew your life wasn’t going to last forever, yet you didn’t expect your life to end so suddenly. By an arrow no less. That was a sign, a reminder that you weren’t ever as strong as your friends, that you would’ve crumbled faster than them. You weren’t ever going to be like them.
You recall that you were protecting Affogato cookie and Doughy, the cookie you never gave a proper name. You had wished you could’ve used your magic more to save yourself, but it happened so fast you weren’t quick enough.
“Where the Oven…?” You mumbled, opening your eyes to see nothing but a void. Is this the afterlife? Is this where you’ll spend the rest of your days until you lose your mind?
Those dreadful thoughts disappeared when the void began to fade into color, a single white door standing in front of you. The wood has engravings etched into it, showing figures that showed cookies, as if telling stories of a life.
Oh wait, that’s your life.
“Oh… my memories!” You gasped, before an amused smile was on my face, “I guess it was true that you see 7 minutes of your life before you crumble,” Yes, your books of magic were practically outdated and ancient, but the tale of seeing your life within seven minutes before crumbling was a fable you had always thought off whenever you fought beasts.
Your body moved on its own, grabbing the doorknob and opening the glowing door, ready to reminisce your entire short life before leaving completely.
“Might as well see my final happy moments,”
꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂꧁꧂ ꧁꧂ ꧁꧂ ꧁꧂ ꧁
You stumbled when the world around you finally became clear after a moment, and you were standing on a boardwalk. The moon shines down on you while lights lit up the houses you instantly knew.
“Hey, my village I was grew up in,” You smiled, “Generations of families yet it never changed,” A village by the shore to the ocean, parties and big dinners shared by every cookie as if you all were one big family.
And returning to the village, two cookies hand in hand, one holding a bundle of blankets, something squirming in her arms. You also recognized who they were, how can you forget what your mothers?
“Heh, my moms creating me,” You smiled at your moms cheering with joy at their creation: you. Holding you in her arms, one of your mothers wept, finally able to fulfill her dream of having a family with her wife.
“I guess Doughy their good looks from me,” You joked, laughing to yourself before awkwardly clearing your throat when silence came afterwards. You got near the memory version of your moms, seeing how blobby you looked, yet they loved you.
The world began to shift again, making you yelp and stumble around before it stopped. You were at the edge of the woods and the beach, where a lot version of you ran right through you, magic particles dusting around you.
“Don’t go out too far, (Name) cookie!” Kid you shouted an acknowledgment to one of your moms, running along the forest path to your favorite secluded spot. From the distance, you saw a glowing light emitting from little you’s hands.
“Ah, my first spell!” You beamed, following the little version of you looking around as if you were performing a secret ritual. You may have had supportive moms, but you wanted to surprise them with what you could do with simply books alone.
Kid you sat on a stone slab, staring intently at an open slash on a tree. Magic always fascinated you from the handful of books you had, your neighbor being the only mage in the village he encouraged you on using your hidden gift for good and practice.
“Come on, don’t fail me now magic hands…” You puffed out your cheeks, hands shaking from how much you were concentrating. A moment of silence passed when your palms began to glow, fluttering your eyes open to see the tree sap hardening into a shiny golden color.
“I did it,” Kid you mumbled in disbelief, before a wide smile grew on your face. You tugged on the amber you created and it broke free from the tree, admiring it from how it glowed in the sun.
“Yes!!” Kid you raised your fists in the air with celebration, excited to show your moms about your cool amber spell, when you froze hearing a twig snapping in the woods. You looked over too, having a sense of recognition of what memory this was.
“Oh? Why show this part of the memory?” You titled your head when a cute little cotton sheep jumped out of the bushes. Kid you dropped your chunk of amber, taking a step back from never seeing such a creature.
The little cotton sheep bounced side to side, as if trying to play. Memory you slowly reached out to touch it, first time finding a cotton sheep, as they’re not common at all in your village.
The little cotton sheep, wool with a slight blush tint of light blue, sniffed your hand before letting out a bleep, tackling memory you to the ground. You chuckled a little, watching memory you yelp before hitting the ground, staring at the happy little creature.
“Um, hi,” You giggled, “You’re so poofy!” You added while petting the blue cotton sheep, who gave a little bleep and wagged its little tail. It nuzzled into your face while you tried to get up, not wanting to leave just yet.
“I’m sorry little sheep, I promise I’ll return, and with lots of berries for us to share!” You promised the creature, who simply bleeped and licked your cheek, making you giggle and stand up.
“Little one!!” Little version of you gasped softly, retreating to hide behind a tree when you heard a sudden voice. Present you tilted your head when the little blue cotton sheep bleep and wagged its tail when the voice was heard.
“There you are, don’t run off like that! You frightened me,” Kid you peaked out closer, to see an older cookie. He appeared to have his eye closed, a gentle and genuine smile on his face when petting the cotton sheep. What caught your eye was his staff, looking alive.
But your attention went back to the little blue cotton sheep, saddened that the fact you wouldn’t share your berries to the sheep, but that was replaced with excitement at the fact you could tell your mothers about the fact you saw your first cotton sheep.
“Bye bye,” You sadly waved at the little cotton sheep bouncing away with the shepherd. The shepherd wasn’t aware of your presence back then, and you soon ran back to your moms for dinner time.
Meanwhile present you stared intently at the shepherd, curious as to why the sheep was a different color than the herd the shepherd tended to, and why did the shepherd looked familiar?
“Wait… what that-?” You couldn’t get a word in what you just realized when the world began to twist again. Your memories moved on to an older version of you, one where you recognized to be one around 20 or more years.
Memory you was fighting off a beast, terrorizing your isolated home. You had moved away a long time ago, and this was around the time you began to take in travelers for the night and help the lost.
The memory of you being knocked around by the forest beast, ready to give the final blow to get yourself crumbled, when a golden spear went straight into the arm of the beast. It howled in pain, charging at the direction the spear was thrown, when a bright light blinded you and the beast.
The beast had enough and ran off into the woods, where you adjusted your sight to see your savior. It was a cookie in yellow and white clothing, clutching his staff that made you shiver at how it looked… alive.
“Woah…” You breathed out, staggering to stand up. More cookies emerged from the bushes, your cautious nature made you take a step back, but they all looked tired, and scared as two of them looked severely injured.
“We seek shelter, please help us!” The green gown cookie pleaded desperately, holding up another cookies dressed in all pink, the white and yellow dressed cookie was being helped by the yellow cookie holding the fifth cookie, but both of them had cracked dough.
“Oh! U-um, my home is not that far, follow me!” Your hospitality instincts kicked in and you had them follow you back to your home, ushering them inside.
“I have spare rooms for such occasions when travelers are in need,” Once settled down, you had to reassure them that you meant them no harm, and are very grateful that they saved you and letting you shelter them in return.
“While I am a healer myself, I’m afraid my dough has been cracked to heal others and myself. Thank you, your hospitality will be remembered dearly,” The white and yellow clothed cookie bowed graciously. The rest of the cookies began to settle comfortably while memory you healed the pink cookie.
“Yes, and quite a quaint yet precious cottage you live in,” Golden Cheese cookie hummed while folding her wings in to fit inside the room. You just finished healing the pink cookie and cleared your throat.
“A-anything for wandering heroes,” You scratched your cheek, “That’s who you are, right?” Even if you could sense the good in them, it’s better safe than sorry to be wary of cookies in case you could be guilty by association.
“Bah! Of course we are heroes!” The pink cookie boasted with a prideful grin, trying to stand up from the bed, “Hollyberry cookie, please do not already be standing,” The purple cookie grunted, hand resting on his abdomen as he laid on one of the beds provided.
“Hollyberry cookie… Oh!” Now you recognize them, “You are THE Heroes of Earthbread!!” Travelers told stories about five cookies who protects cookiekind with gems called “Soul Jams” that present what they fight for. You’d never thought you would meet such cookies.
“That we are,” Golden Cheese cookie smirked, her ego already rising from how you were in slight awe, “Then you must be aware of our names, may we ask for yours?” Pure Vanilla cookie suggested, trying to make sure Hollyberry cookie rest.
“It’s the least we can do is call you properly after helping us,” White Lily cookie gently said, resting her staff against a dresser while giving a shy yet polite smile.
“My name is (Name) cookie,” You swayed side to side awkwardly, now feeling flustered at the many eyes staring at you. You suddenly cleared to your throat and limply pointed at the door.
“H-here, let me heal the rest of you and prepare some dinner, you don’t mind some jelly stew?” The present you chuckled sadly, seeing how this act of kindness sparked a great friendship you wished bloomed into something more.
“These memories are more sad than happy,” You grimaced, holding your arms to your chest as the world shifted to another memory, but you held your ground this time.
Your eyes widened as they proceeded to play memories that involved the heroes, making you panic and frantically waved your arms in the air.
“Oh, no no no. I don’t really want to see these memories!” You shouted out loud to whatever being was making you watch all these memories, but whatever it was it didn’t listen and transformed another memory.
“I do admire your garden. Such delicious and hearty vegetables you grow,” You cringed at the sudden memory of Pure Vanilla cookie, kneeling next to you while his hand roamed over the ready-to-eat veggies you had grown.
“I also do various of flowers, look at these,” Memory you motioned for Pure Vanilla to peer over at a flowerbed, colorful with rows of flowers that’s been imported from different regions of Earthbread.
“Please let’s skip this part! I don’t want to remember!” You yelped again, face heating up in embarrassment. You really don’t want to rewatch how you acted around them, because it wasn’t great. At all.
“Did you know, if you put honeysuckles under your chin, it will glow if you’re ever in love?” You heard that from your moms, explaining that was how they fell in love. You always wondered if it ever glowed under your chin.
“Oh, how romantic!” Pure Vanilla cookie laughed wholeheartedly, plucking the flower and lifted it over his chin, “It’s silly for me to do so, but is it glowing?” You tilted your head, eyes widening at the red glow from the flower. Pure Vanilla cookie wasn’t one to fully express his feelings despite always telling how munch he cared deeply for his friends.
“Y-Yeah…” How foolish of you to let your heart beat fast at the fact that his chin glowed. The cookie felt his face heat up and laughed, “Oh dear, I guess my feelings are bigger than I thought!” You wanted to ask who exactly did he hold his heart for, but he piped up first.
“How about you, (Name) cookie? Does your heart hold a cookie dear to you?” Memory you tried to refuse, not wanting to embarrass yourself in attempting to show your feelings, especially to a cookie that was so caring, so sweet, so open, so… not you.
“I look stupid…” Present you listened to your memories, remembering exactly how this goes down, as it was one you cherished yet don’t wish to see right now.
“Nonsense! Your chin glows as if the sunset shines down on a field of carnations!” The memory of you realizing your feelings towards Pure Vanilla cookie, your heart beating so fast you swore it would burst from your chest.
“You and your way of poetic words,” You let out a nervous giggle, wishing Pure Vanilla cookie didn’t catch on to your nervousness, “Guess our hearts hold a cookie dear to us,” Poor you, thinking this moment would go further, that maybe both of you would confess to one another.
“Yes…” You wanted to push further away from Pure Vanilla cookie, but you just couldn’t. You never felt this way to anyone else, you didn’t want to let go.
“I want to continue on with this memory lane,” You said out loud, wanting to skip over to another memory that wasn’t this one. Whatever heard you transitioned to the next memory, and it was sunrise.
This memory contained Dark Cacao cookie, standing tall arms behind his back and without his armor. He watches intently at memory you, wielding a wooden sword and smacking a sturdy wood cake log lodged in the dirt.
“Dark Cacao cookie always made me try and be prepared on using weapons than using magic,” Present you chuckled, “And I still sucked at using swords,” Your body wasn’t weak, it was the swords that was basically trying to hold a mountain.
“When wielding a sword, you must have strength on not only your arms, but your core,” His gruff voice cut through the air, watching you as you intently held the heavy wooden sword. Standing in front of him with his own sword to his side, he wanted you strong.
“Strike!!” You let out a war cry, lifting your sword in the air before charging at him, to which he side stepped, “Again,” He hummed, merely lifting his sword to block the feeble attempt of striking him.
“Show your enemies how bitter and tough your dough is, strike with your core!” Present you winced as if remembering how sore you would always get after his tough lessons, especially when he easily swept your feet and knocked you down.
“I can see how I need to know other defenses if I lose the ability to wield magic, but we’ve been doing this forever!” You didn’t mean to whine, but you wanted to after endless hours of swinging the wooden sword, and Dark Cacao cookie easily stepping aside and blocking the strikes.
“Battles can last forever, (Name) cookie,” He stopped his movements, holding his sword in the ground with his eyes closed, “You cannot simply give up because of your body. Your core strength is what keeps you going, it’s what makes the darkness- GAH!!” You took his monologue to use all your strength and tackle him onto the ground.
You straddled him, his armor pressed against your legs while you pushed the tip of your wooden sword on his chest plate. You let out a triumphant laugh, happy to get him off guard.
“Fall of Dark Cacao Cookie!!” Memory you shouted while raising your sword in the air like a gladiator. You realized what you just said, causing your mouth to shut so fast as you looked down at him in horror.
“Oh crumbs! Sorry! I’m so sorry!! I got carried away!!” You dropped the sword and quickly bowed frantically. Dark Cacao cookie said nothing, only slowing down his breathing after the shock wore off.
You only opened your eyes when you suddenly felt an arm roughly shove at your chest, a leg sweep under you, and a hand grabbing the front of your shirt before you fell.
Memory you stared at Dark Cacao cookie into his eyes, amusement in his eyes mixed with satisfaction. Present you watched with your face turning red, hand over your cheek from how this looked.
“Never let your guard down,” He simply said, before a small smile formed on his face, helping you stand properly. Your face was totally flushed, words stuck on your throat while he patted your head and held his sword easily with one hand, wishing for you to continue.
“You’re a strong cookie, more than you think,” Dark Cacao cookie nodded, tossing your wooden sword to you, “Now, let’s continue until supper, White Lily cookie with cook for you,” You swallowed hard before giving a determined grin, charging once more.
“Yeesh, it’s a mystery on how I didn’t break earlier, how can I not?” Present you sighed while resting your cheek on your hand. They all were gentle teachers when teaching you things they are masters of.
The world shifted, and you were in the back of your home, sitting on a log while staring up at Golden Cheese cookie. She was perched on a boulder, twirling a shiny treasure she had brought to impress your feeble hermit mind.
“These are the brightest jewels dug within the depths of the shredded cheese raveens,” Golden Cheese cookie boasted, a big golden chain encrusted with rubies and diamonds along the precious metal made your eyes glow.
“Woah,” Golden Cheese cookie smirked with pride at how amazed your expression was, “Your kingdom has many types of gold and gems! It must be amazing to live there,” Memory you complimented, hands clasped together.
“Yes yes, all gold is mine, forever more,” She shrugged nonchalantly, “However the real treasures are the denizens of the kingdom, truest precious gold in my eyes,” She explained with a proud look in her eyes. Her kingdom was very important to her, her greed would never run dry with them in her life, and that you admire.
“Now then, you claim to have treasure for me? Let’s see it!” She crossed her arms with expectance, yet her wings ruffled with excitement. You smiled and hand your hand up with the other rummaged through your bag, pulling out a circular regular rock.
“Tada!” She raised an eyebrow at the rock you held, “I-It’s not as shiny or grand as your gold, but they’re still precious to us!” You beamed, before lifting the rock over your head and slamming it into the ground. Golden Cheese cookie was surprised that you did such an act, but was in awe when the rock split in half and you showed what was inside.
“A yellow geode? I’ve never seen such a color on these crystals,” She gasped, eyes sparkling with greed while you handed it to her to admire it. Present you crouched next to the memory version of yourself, watching as your eyes sparkled whenever you stared at Golden Cheese cookie.
“Geodes are easy to obtain, but colors like these are treasures. We value them even if other cookies think there’s too much, you can’t have enough of our gemstones,” You rattled off, trying to not stutter and made a fool of yourself.
“(Name) cookie, this is absolutely gorgeous!” Golden Cheese cookie swooned, “And you say there are other colors?” Her greed for the best of her, wishing to see more of these geodes that never grew in her kingdom.
“Yeah, I-I have a collection from my moms in my room, w-want to see?” You mustered out from how close she was, her wings spread as if covering you both completely
“Onward!!” She spread her wings and easily flew towards your house, making you panic, “Golden Cheese Cookie, my windows!!” You wanted her just as she slammed face first into the window right next to the very open door. She groaned in pain while slowly sliding down, holding her face.
“Ah… forgot they were there…” She mumbled, feeling embarrassed that she did a big show only to crash. You let out a giggle before running up to her with glowing hands ready to heal her.
Present you broke into a smile, remembering how Golden Cheese cookie always managed to crash into windows as not only she didn’t have windows in her home, but she always crashes with pride.
“Alright, maybe these moments were still cherished by me, still sad though,” You sighed as the memories changed to one of you hiding in the bushes, no other cookies in sight.
Memory you laid on your elbows, eyes filled with wonder as present you was curious as to what exactly were you spying at. Oh, you prayed to the witches you weren’t spying on one of them, or else you would’ve gladly died right now.
“Hiding in the bushes, are we (Name) cookie?” Your body instinctively shivered at the booming voice, “Avoiding my hugs already, hmm~?” You were scrambling to sit up only to see the one and only Hollyberry cookie looming over you with a grin.
“Come over here and give me a big hug!” You let out a yelp and a wheeze when your body was engulfed in pink and white layers of clothes. Hollyberry cookie laughed boisterously, before you slammed your hands into her mouth, giving her a “quiet!” Look.
“Quietly! Look,” She tilted her head and crouched down with you. You pushed the bushes away and beamed at the animal you were watching, yet Hollyberry cookie was confused as she merely sees a common animals.
“A wild jelly boar! I’ve never seen one before,” You excitedly said, eyes filled with wonder and awe, “I heard that their meat is so tender and juicy that one bite will fill you up,” She watched how excited you were seeing a beast she sees everyday back at her kingdom, making her chuckle.
“We have many boats and much more animals at my kingdom, you should visit,” Hollyberry nudged your shoulder as you slowly crawled up to not scare the boar, “We’ll have a grand banquet filled with hearty meat jellies your eyes have never seen! In your honor!” Present you walked with the two, as if you were there again.
“O-oh I don’t know, in a kingdom that’s thrives on love and passion my social skills won’t help me at all,” You made many excuses to avoid ever leaving your home whenever any of the heroes offered to let you visit the kingdoms they live in.
“My dear friend, (Name) cookie, we must venture out beyond this forest!” She pressured, throwing an arm around you and pulling tightly into her, “I bet we will fight off more grand beasts!” She flexed her other arm, boasting once more.
“Y-you know I don’t anywhere that’s not home,” You muffled out from your face pressed into her armor. Oh crumbs, you could explode right there, how could they all make you feel… important.
“You hermit of a cookie!” Hollyberry cookie laughed joyously, letting you down and laid a surprisingly gentle hand on your shoulder, a gentle smile on her face.
“One day,” She sighed, “I wish you could be passionate enough to go with us. We could use a mage such as yourself, and we’ll explore Crispia AND Beast-Yeast together,” Hollyberry cookie always encouraged you to leave your home just to see the land.
“I’ll try, Hollyberry cookie…” For her, you’ll push past your comfort zone and face the world. You would face even the most dangerous of beasts just to protect their lives and lay down yours.
“I never did, did I?” Your lack of courage in being around other cookies stopped you from at least saying goodbye to them, which hurt even more as your heart tells you it was your fault that they’re gone.
“It wasn’t, right?” You didn’t had time to reflect when the memories changed once more to where present you stood over a pond. You looked around to see two figures sitting at the edge of the pond, one of you and the other White Lily cookie.
“This is the books that inspired you to cast magic?” White Lily cookie wondered as you handed her the small yet thick stacks of magic books. You nodded and nervously explained you were self taught.
“It’s incredible that you managed to cast magic without any education from magic schools!” She cradled the books you had since you were little, hand tracing over the cover. You grabbed your neck with a shy giggle, saying it was filled with hard work that you were able to master.
“It’s a gift to have books about the history of Earthbread magic,” You puffed out your chest, “And yet the nature magic you learned can easily transition to the modern magic we have today, that’s how strong you are!” White Lily cookie babbled with a flustered grin, quickly apologizing for rambling.
“Magic is incredible. We cookies are incredible, however…” She trailed off, eyes drifting down to her staff, cradling it with security. She then raised her head and stared into the night sky.
“My quest for finding out why we were made so fragile grows,” She sniffled, “I only want us… to be perfect,” You looked at her, somewhat understanding what she meant about cookies being fragile. They may be heroes but they always end up cracked in every battle.
“Well… I see the perfect cookie right now!” She perked up at what you said, “Where?” You quickly lifted up a small mirror and faced it towards White Lily cookie’s face. She paused for a split second, staring at her reflection in sudden surprise, before her face turned light pink as she burst into giggles.
“O-Oh you!!” She covered her mouth as you laughed along too, your own face heating up, “Your compliments always make me laugh!” Your heart skipped a beat when her hand gently and jokingly pushed your chest at what you did.
“S-sorry sorry! Bad joke,” You sighed with a smile, looking away as she calmed her giggles down and stared at the glistening pond. Both of you sat in silence, yet you could tell that White Lily cookie was still gloomy at her previous words.
“Our imperfections don’t define us, it’s how we use our weakness and turn it into strength,” You explained with a hum, grabbing blank paper and folded it, “To free ourselves from the worries of our flaws, we must let go of our fear of being weak and allow hope that we can be stronger ourselves,” As you said that, you dropped the paper flower on the water and pushed it to see it float away.
“Such strong wisdom, makes me feel like the young student,” She rubbed her cheek with a soft smile, grabbing her own blank paper to fold, “Thank you, (Name) cookie. For everything you’ve done for us,” Your heart raced at her words, only letting out a splutter of words.
“A-Ah, it’s no problem! J-just looking out for my friends!” You cringed seeing memory you laughed loudly, shaking your head at how you acted.
“Witches, I sounded like such a dork,” You shook your head, smiling softly at how younger you was. Being a hermit of a mage cookie, your social skills weren’t great at all, yet it always managed to make them laugh.
The world shifted, and your eyes widened and sparkled when you clearly recognized this memory. To the world it was centuries ago, but to you it was merely a month.
“The best memory yet, my little Doughy,” You breathed out, watching as memory you slowly got up from the floor with a groan, staring at the cloud of soot from your fireplace.
“What the… baby?” You coughed out when a cry was heard. “Wait- baby?!” Memory you practically kept into the air, waving soot away to reveal a brightly colorful blob on the ground wailing.
“Ah yes, the panic before the calm,” Present you scoffed a laugh. Memory you was freaking out at the fact your dough mixed with the heroes’ crumbs made- made… THIS.
“I-I can’t be a parent! I’m barely in my late twenties! I mean, that’s how old my moms were creating me, but STILL!!” You shouted while pacing the room. “And I- I can’t with… their crumbs…” You trailed off as the baby kept on wailing, reaching out.
You hesitantly crept to the baby, shaky arms reaching down to pick them up. Oh, how a blob of dough can look so much like every one of them? How can this be? How can-?
The baby stopped crying, blubbering a giggle while barely opening their eyes to meet yours. Your fear went away, and what you felt was nothing more than security, warmth, love.
“Hello there,” You breathed a laugh, “Welcome to the world, little doughy baby,” The baby giggled and nuzzled to your chest, no longer fussing when they had you.
The memory stopped right when the bad happened, when a huge blast from the mountains made you freeze for decades. Present you held your breath and closed your eyes, content with your seven minutes.
“Has it been seven minutes already?” You wondered as the memory faded. You wished you saw more memories, but you guessed it was time to move on. At least you could leave with a smile.
But you didn’t leave just yet.
“Wait what?” The world shifted to your home, sun was setting slowly. You appeared in your room, watching memory you pace your room, seemingly awaiting for something, or someone, to arrive.
Oh no.
“I’ll confess tonight at dinner,” Memory you told yourself, clutching a plush bloomed Carnation, “Just to get it out of the way, of course!” A dopey smile, clumsy pacing around ready to be brave and be yourself about how you felt.
“No please,” You winced, “Not this memory,” You felt shame in remembering this moment. The night you confessed to the heroes about your feelings, your love.
“They’re going to face Dark Enchantress cookie very soon… my confession will very much be bad timing, but I can’t bear to face the fact they might crumble before my feelings will be revealed!” Memory you stared into the mirror, making sure you looked presentable for them, always for them ever since they fell in your life.
“Anything but this… I don’t want to remember…” You covered your head, wanting to drown out those hopeful and love stricken words coming from your mouth. How naive you were when preparing your confession.
“I-I’ll even gain the courage to go with them! I’ll help them whoever I could, I just want to be with them!” Memory you beamed, trembling ever so slightly at the thought of leaving your home, but it’ll be worth it to leave with them.
“Don’t… It’ll save you a whole lot of pain,” You blurted out, but knew nothing would change. Memories stay how they are, no matter how much you try and remember it differently, and you can’t change your fate that night.
You were too busy trying to ignore the pain in your heart you failed to notice memory you stopped in your tracks, smile faltering before speaking up.
“Then you should wake up,” Memory you turned your head with a serious expression, catching you off guard. You can’t change details of a memory, that much you know, so why was this past version of you talking?
“What?” Was all you could say. Memory you gave a chuckle, hands on your hips and fully turning around and nodding to the side, where you followed and saw a bright light.
“Wake up, (Name) cookie. You need to find Doughy,” Memory you urged, “You still haven’t named the little bundle,” Ah, Doughy! Regret filled your stomach. How shameful can you be, allowing to carelessly move on when there was a barely fully baked cookie out there needing you!
“But, I was dying. Unless…” Someone was trying to bring you back to life. Maybe it was Affogato cookie! Maybe your intuition was wrong about him, and he actually was a good cookie!
“Wake up now, (Name) cookie!” You flinched when you spun around to see the kid version of you, looking up with a determined stare.
“You need to open your eyes!!” 20 year you piped up, panic in your tone. Being surrounded by multiple time versions of you, the bright light got closer to you.
“They’re going to take Doughy away!!” Various voices from different timelines overlapped each other, overwhelming you as you tried to shut your eyes, feeling the bright light consuming you until the light was all you could see even with your eyes closed.
“WAKE UP!!”
You awoke with a jolt.

A/N: I kinda forgot that the Ancients were like over 1,000 years old, so meeting them for the first time they were very much already old people lmao.
But Reader sure as hell doesn’t know that, so them realizing is going to be fun >:)

Genuinely feel like the ancient finding out about calico could be a thing of both happiness or genuine fear depending on the ancient.
Anyways I’m having the time of my life watching the chaos of the new homestuck stuffs controversies, I don’t support Hussie or vivsiepop but it’ll be fun seeing a rather interesting comic become animated:)
I’m finishing up the next chapter which won’t have the ancients but I will admit that writing for them reacting to Calico will be tricky, knowing their own relationships of either family or their own feelings.
Lots of emotions will be shown that I can tell you lol, and the fact that Reader is alive too will make things more intense.
To add in my two cents on that animation news, I personally have never been a Homestuck fan, never read a single comic or know anything about the lore. The only thing I heard about the fandom was the Sharpie Bath Incident but that’s all.
I’m also not a fan of Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel, I’ll watch the episodes, but even so it didn’t really stick to me (as for the art I used as reference in my Batfam story, it’s only for the story) especially on characters and their development.
Combining those two, the show being animated by Vivziepop’s studio, seemed to be a fish out of the frying pan and into the fire. A whole lot of shit will go down.
That’s my two cents, imma just move on with my life and keep in my own business lmao

I can just imagine dark choco cookie suddenly showing up (for extra silliness this would be after leaving dark enchantress cookie) calico cookie in hand just to inform her that she has (another) kid now and she owes child support
and her brain just crashes.
“what do you mean I have a baby???”
“What do you mean they’re also somehow the child of the other ancients??????”
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO PAY CHILD SUPPORT-“
I imagine her getting over the shock in a week or so before trying to yoink the baby (along with the PILF that her counterpart fumbled of course) because imagine what kind of god like power would appear when calico cookie grows up?
to a less silly extent I could imagine red velvet getting along with calico simply because of cuteness factor.
Cake hound puppies are cute. Cookie babies are cute.
baby and puppies together? Extra cute!!
I can finally answer this ask 🙌🏽
Chronologically, in this story Dark Choco already left the Cookie of Darkness after the grand battle of Possessed Dark Cacao, so I would find a way for him to meet not only Reader but baby Calico.
But let’s just say that whatever reason, Dark Choco or another Cookie of Darkness discovers that Dark Enchantress cookie technically has a child (foreshadowing? 👀) that’s not Matcha cookie.
Dark Enchantress cookie uses others for her own gain, her heart filled with the shadows of the cruel truth to cookiekind, her weak past being a mere disappointment for having such strong emotions towards cookies who would ultimately end up being crumbled soon by her own hands.
She’s supposed to be the heartless and conniving beast of a cookie that others describe her as, the one who will soon show all of Earthbread the true meaning of their existence!! No time for the meaningless connections with Pure Vanilla cookie, with the other Ancients, with any cookie!!
But… you…
You were alive. You survived the wrath of Dark Enchantress cookie? And you came back with-
A baby?
Her baby?!
From the look of Licorice cookie’s face, she actually took him seriously and freaked out a little. Since White Lily cookie and her are still technically tethered, that also meant that this baby is technically hers too.
Her weak counterpart created a child with you?! Yet from certain eyes watching over, it seemed White Lily cookie wasn’t aware of this. How can her weak counterpart depart and leave a cookie such as yourself all alone? To leave her baby alone? This won’t due.
So instead of paying child support, she just either commands the Cookies of Darkness to retrieve you, or she gets you herself. The only obstacle in their way would be the Ancients not letting you go after their realization that you were a bad bitch all along, your apparent newly adopted gingerbrave crew, Affogato cookie and other cookies who worshipped you.
If they managed to capture you and Calico, Dark Enchantress cookie would immediately try and get you to join her after a long confrontation on how you survive and whether or not your foolish feelings towards her weak counterpart caused you to go psycho and made Calico to baby trap them.
After you were adamant that Calico was on accident (and actually managed to sucker punch Dark Enchantress for thinking you in such a way) her brain rewires itself and she figures out that her feelings were still the same as White Lily’s so she fell for you too.
Also should I add Dark Enchantress cookie before the Beasts or should I introduce the Beasts first?
Calico cookie in theory could be a powerful cookie, based on the children of the other Ancients, Dark Choco cookie was pretty strong to hold against his father, not sure about Royal Berry but he’s pretty resilient too.
In my mind, grown up Calico cookie is like Telemachus from Epic, with a bit of mischief. They look up to Reader, and inspire to be as strong as their parents! They wish to venture out there and protect Earthbread too! Fight monsters, beasts, bandits and all sorts!! Power wise, they may inherit some magic from every magic wielder parent.
And Red Velvet cookie with Calico and cake hounds? Who can resist those cute little faces? Especially Chiffon and his kisses! They’re very gentle with baby doughs, and Red Velvet cannot refuse his newly acquired sibling!

BREAKING NEWS: Local chronic liar realizes he wants that cookie so fucking bad after an assault on their home and she got fucking stabbed, more at 7-
Coughs, anyway, imagine after this Affogato has this whole "i see 😨" moment where he realizes we're not a minion or subject to him, we're the baddie that stole his heart ❤️
Also its hilarious your agreeing and spreading the Baddie propaganda
What did he expect for real 😭 an emotionally avoidant and lying cookie who holds a cunning mask over his insecurities about belonging to this world finding someone who did nothing g but welcomes him to their home and made a place for him to belong? What a great individual to manipulate and totally not fall for.
I mostly hate the trope where someone pretends to love/manipulates another person but soon falls for them later on, but Affogato is an exception because he’s pathetic lmao
The “Oh” was simple the tipping point of what Affogato thinks he is wants rather than what he needs. His denial and backtracking will not be so kind to him in the later chapters let’s just say

Haaaaaai! Loving the series so far! Calico is the cutest little doughie in the world, can I share my oc Golden apple cookie?
ironically she had a near identical backstory to the reader prior to me reading the first two chapters so I’ve been imagining her as the reader (she was turned to lead with her whole home city to escape the wrath of the beasts by making the place seem already abandoned, she recently returned to her normal state in the modern era, she has a fairy hubby tho in her canon timeline.)
That means we got that one shared braincell/J Love how she gives odd Greek vibes, a Hera vibe if you will
Fairy husband you say? You know she a baddie
