Margaret Killjoy did a 4 part series of the Zapatista movement, and the whole thing was excellent. My favorite college professor, who was the head of the American Indian Studies program, spoke often of his time living with the Zapatistas in the 90s, particularly in the Indigenous Peoples and Globalization class he taught, so I enjoyed linking his stories with the history Margaret shared. Linking to the second of four parts below because that's when she really starts getting into the Zapatistas, but I especially loved how she closed out part 4 talking about being an anarchist and how it's not about loyalty to a specific ideology but commitment to creating and respecting diverse movements -- diverse tactics and diverse priorities, all of which come from the perspective of the revolution coming from the bottom up. the Zapatistas model that, and have shown why their movement has lasted over 500 years

"You, what have you done to defend the conquests for which we gave our lives?" - Arturo Garcia Bustos, 1953.
"The land belongs to those who work it with their hands." “If there is no justice for the people, let there be no peace for the government.” "Ignorance and obscurantism have never produced anything other than flocks of slaves for tyranny" "Seek justice from tyrannical governments not with your hat in your hands but with a rifle in your fist."
― Emiliano Zapata
“In our dreams we have seen another world, an honest world, a world decidedly more fair than the one in which we now live. We saw that in this world there was no need for armies; peace, justice and liberty were so common that no one talked about them as far-off concepts, but as things such as bread, birds, air, water, like book and voice.”
― Subcomandante Marcos

So anyways with the rapid rise of fascism I feel it’s a good time to point out that it’s perfectly legal to follow unjust orders slowly, badly, or inefficiently
