Just Look Around

Don't cry out my heart

Do not look for sympathy

For the road which you are treading

Is full of hopes, struggle, and mystery

Do not think of your griefs

Nor be a victim of self-pity

And do not think you have no one to look up to

But look around yourself and then you will see

Which are sad, old, and hungry

Thousands of faces

Hold out your hand to them

And each day are living and dying too

And let them reach to you

And a sense of bliss

Then you will feel a strange joy

Which will dry your tears

And wipe away your griefs

Hi, I’m Sanjay Das.

Growing up, I was surrounded by nature that felt like something out of a fairy tale, just like the stories my grandmother used to tell me. The trees, the sky, and the simple beauty of the world around me always made me feel something special.

That feeling made me want to put my thoughts into words. I started writing poems to capture what I saw and felt. My first poem was published in Estonia, and that’s when I realized how much I loved expressing myself this way. That was the beginning of my journey as a poet. 🙌🏻
