The Taj Mahal is more than just a mausoleum – it is has been described by the poet Rabindranath Tagore as a “teardrop on the cheek of eternity”. As an expression of the height of the Mughal dynasty’s architectural genius in the Indian subcontinent, as the symbol of a bereaved emperor’s love for his empress, and as an inspiration to countless photographers and artists who have tried to capture its many subtle nuances of light and shade, the Taj Mahal continues to captivate people worldwide with its history, its design, and its symbolism of eternal love.

The best time to visit the Taj Mahal is in the autumn, winter and spring months from October to February. The peak summer months of May to July are best avoided because of the hot weather. The months of October and November, after the monsoon, offer the sight of the Taj at its mesmerising best, as the gardens are lush with greenery and the Yamuna river flows proudly past the Taj Mahal, swollen with post-monsoon rain. Both these factors enhance the overall experience of viewing the Taj Mahal.
Taj Mahal Timings
The Taj Mahal complex is open to visitors from sunrise to sunset (6 a.m. to 7 p.m.) on all weekdays, with the exception of Friday. On Fridays, the mosque in the Taj Mahal complex is open for prayers from 12 noon to 2 p.m. At this time, tourists are not permitted to enter the complex.

Agra fort – the rusty and majestic red-sandstone fort of Agra stands on the banks of the river Yamuna and the construction was started by Emperor Akbar in 1566. At the Diwan-I-Khas (hall of private audience) where marble pavilions with floral inlays lend an ethereal ambience, the Emperor sat on his gem-studded Peacock Throne and met foreign ambassadors and rulers of friendly kingdoms. The fort is a must see as its so much more than you can imagine.

Delhi India
Someone told me that india is an attack on all your senses, sight, smell, sound and emotion, and it is! From the horns constantly honking the people shouting and the beggars, it’s the children who pull at your heart strings with their dirty little faces, yet they have big smiles and sometimes even a cheeky laugh.

Our first day in Delhi we had a tour guide and a driver, great way to go.

Right outside terminal 1 is the bus station, take the S1 bus to Tung Chung station around 3.50HKD each way. Follow the directions to the Ngong Ping cable car, go early, before the long lines start. The gondola costs 290HKD round trip and is a beautiful way to…

Etihad Business Class Manchester -Abu Dhabi-Amman
The Boeing 787 known as the Dreamliner, I was immediately drawn to the incredible amount of detail Etihad invested into the airplane. The business studio seats were arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, with some seats facing forward and some facing backwards, such that all seats had direct aisle access. The studio has a lie-flat seat covered in a combination of fabric and Poltrona Frau leather, a…

Amman-Jordan
Amman, Jordan is a modern city with numerous ancient sites. We stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel. Heading out on foot to explore. 1st stop was Rainbow St, great for restaurants, bars & coffee shops. Next head for downtown and the Roman Amphitheater. It’s a safe, bustling city, locals say “welcome, where are you from”? We stopped to ask a police man directions to the amphitheater and the…

Petra by Night
“Petra By Night” is an after-dark guided excursion into the ancient city that adds an entirely new dimension to your experience of the place; the candlelit walk, leaving the lights of Wadi Musa behind to enter the pitch-dark valley in silence (talking and mobile phones are banned), is magical. Nothing can match the atmosphere of walking through the Siq at night, with only the light of candles…

Petra-Jordan
Although much has been written about Petra, nothing really prepares you for this amazing place. It has to be seen to be believed. Petra, the world wonder, is without a doubt Jordan’s most valuable treasure and greatest tourist attraction. It is a vast, unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataeans, an industrious Arab people who settled here more than 2000 years ago, turning it…
