Manifesto SKRT SKRT:
We believe that the Internet belongs to everyone and is for everyone. We believe that the internet should be a space of expression and freedom for those who cannot enjoy physical freedom. The Internet should work as a performative and safe space.
We believe that the internet is the first and only technology that manages to turn a real and physical environment into an immersive and interactive 3d platform.
We believe that the internet has created a new virtual space where we can make our own environments (where there is no time or space)
Because It’s a virtual and performative space, we believe that the internet breaks limits of interactivity, touch and even our physical form.
We believe that the internet has created a generational break quite evident between generations like millennials and baby boomers. That is why these previous generations no longer have the language or understanding for what we are now experiencing through the internet.
Regarding the field of art, we believe that what we call Internet-Art and Post Internet Art is now, for us, useless and obsolete.
We believe that shit-posting on social media is nothing less than a form of Neo-neo-Dada.
We believe that those who practice this art form are the biggest drivers of internet culture as we know it today through its non sensical humor, irrationality and nihilism.
We believe that the generational break has increased due to the nihilistic view on the part of the Z and millennial generations, as they are faced with a dystopian future, caused by actions of previous generations.
We believe that the newest generations use humor as a coping mechanism and make absurd jokes and weird memes that are not understood by most of the older generations. This way, proving that the previous generations no longer possess the understanding of this virtual space that surrounds us.
We believe that Art is a constructed cycle and that it works as a mirror for social and technological advances.
We believe that Internet Art is an art movement that has become outdated for the times we live in now. It's futile to think that we can theorise an art movement, like the one we are experiencing these days, when it's so constantly changing.
