I've not been around for a hot minute as I've been dealing with my cat's declining health. Yesterday I made the decision to let him go before he started suffering the brunt of three cancers. His last days were incredible and filled with treats, good food, sunshine, and lots of playtime. This has also been compounded by the loss of my other grandmother, which my family failed to notify me of. Two grandmothers within a year is kinda brutal lmao.

I am okay: doing a lot of reading, trying to get some writing done here and there. EW is in the hands of great people, so no worries on that. Next year is gonna be wild - you can count on it.

Anyway, the juxtaposition of all this grief with many good things ahead of me feels strange, but I've never been one to have a simple, straightforward life. I believe that sometimes, in order for the most amazing things to happen, loss has to carve out a space for that goodness. Pronoia, baybeeee

Have you read the Captive Prince trilogy? If so, what did you think of it?

I actually only read the first book and part of the second and I remember complaining to @iftheshoef1tz that I wanted MORE political intrigue, which is pretty par for the course as far as my complaints go for most fantasy lmao. I think I went in expecting more military politics and got a lot more sexual violence than I was interested in reading about. It was fine I guess? I don't think it's a bad book by any means.

I think if I picked it up again and followed it through to the end of the series, I'd enjoy it more. It's still sitting on my bookshelf with the intent of me revisiting it, but I've fallen into a reading niche that is more my vibe at the moment and will take a bit to exhaust.

Also at the time of reading it, the way some people in the fandom were discussing the books kinda put me off cause it was toeing the line of fetishy and I didn't want to be near that.
