The lights twinkle in the place of stars to guide miscreants like me to the next destination: nowhere. I walk briskly through the frigid air, until my legs refuses to leave the safety of a diner's glow. I enter and mistakenly order a cup of coffee at this time of the night, just like we used to. I lift the chipped mug to my lips. The warmth begins to radiate, but I'm still cold. My tongue tells me it's delicious. My heart tells me it's bitter. Tonight, surrounded by 8 million people, I'm lonely.

Just like we used to.

I just find it scary that no matter who you find, who you meet, or who you love, you’ll just never know what’s truly lurking in their mind. I mean, it’s impossible to know completely everything about a person. Some of us barely even know ourselves that well. And even when it comes to truths and lies. Anyone can be sincere as ever, yet hold the darkest lies. So you have to take that risk and believe what you are told. That’s all you can do, really. Believe. It’s not like you can peer into someone’s mind and take a look at everything, see if it’s true or not. Or take a look at things that are hidden. That’s just absurd. And yeah, actions do speak louder than words.. always. However, how many of us go on about our days acting in front of people and for people? Putting on a facade or a smile so no one asks “What’s wrong?” Or simply doing something because you fear the consequences? Anyone can act. And everyone has at some point. Some people do it for the rest of their lives.
