“It’s normal. You’ll feel certain differences at first, but you’ll get used to it soon!” Bathory replied.

Food served, The pink-haired girl smiled and stared at her plate. Seems so delicious…time to try it out!

“Ah, it’s really good! I agree with you, no wonder the place is so popular! They must make a lot of money, huh?” The girl happily spoke, then proceeding to finish her meal.

After eating the tasty spaghetti, Bathory answered Setz’s question with the opinion she always had about the human world. “I like it. Humans are interesting, you probably know about how much I like them. First time I saw Lark I hugged him, I recognized his scent so I knew he was a human.” A pause.

“That’s what I think about it so far. I’ll have a better opinion to share someday, since now I’m able to pay more attention to this world’s details.”

Bathory asked for the bill and paid their food with the money she brought in case they wanted to eat something. Good thing they didn’t waste it on something useless. “So, what are we gonna do now~?”

“I do, but from what Lark told me about humans, they seem mean like a bunch of bullies.” He started. Taking a brief pause, trying to find the right words, he resumed: “I found him when I was exploring the human world as a kid. They picked on him because of his red eyes... That’s why I brought him there.”

Setz had conflicting opinions on the subject. Partly because of Lark’s testimony, but mostly because of his dad’s influence, stating things such as “talking about humans is taboo.” Despite that, he was curious about the reason for Bathory’s fondness of them. “Let me pay you back for the spaghetti, Bathory. Or at least half the price of it.... It is only fair.” The vampire was always told about behaving in proper manner, and etiquette, you name it. It didn’t feel right letting his roommate pay the bill for something he ate.

Even after giving her question some thought, he didn’t know. He wasn’t the one usually taking initiative, after all.

“You tell me. I’ll follow you wherever. It’s not like I know any good place to go.”

“Yaay! Thanks, Setz!” And like that, they entered the restaurant. Good, there were unoccupied tables. They didn’t have to wait, that was great for Bathory and her hungry stomach.

She sat on the chair and picked up the menu Setz gave to her. There were so many things… 

“This spaghetti seems delicious! Well, if you’re going to get the same as me, then we’re eating spaghetti. But…I’m not sure why you want to eat the same thing as me. I mean, look at these!” She showed him some foods on the menu. “But if you’re sure…well, there’s nothing I can do about it.” 

She then called the waitress and ordered their spaghetti. While they waited for the food, Bathory started to think about what she was going to do for now on. She doesn’t have something to search for, unlike the first time she came to this world. She was just being Setz’s company here. Bathory could do whatever she wanted now. 

“I’m honestly glad to come back to this world… Say, Setz! What do you think about here so far? I mean, we didn’t explore a lot yet, but… any thoughts so far?”

“Yeah, it’s no big deal. I’m sure you know better about food than I do, so I went with whatever you ordered.”

The raven-haired boy gave Bathory’s question some thought. He still wasn’t able to fully express what he felt when he decided to reply:

“It certainly has a different feel when compared to our homeland. I’ll have to analyze it a while longer to be sure. This part of the city is clearly a lot more lively at night than it ever was in Crepuscule.”  The food was served, and with it Setz ordered their usual drinks. Without delay, the couple started eating the spaghetti.

“Huh, this is pretty good. No wonder the place is popular.” - He said. After finishing his meal and thinking they should have dinner here as of today, Setz resumed their conversation: “What about you, Bathory? What’s your opinion on the human world?”

“That’s the spirit!” Bathory knew she was going to cheer Setz up for some time until he get used to this world. His head was probably a mess now…she feels bad for him. Well, that’s why she’s going to cheer Setz up, right?! 

“Yeah, I did! I saw an interesting place that seemed to have delicious food over the-” When she pointed her finger to show Setz where was the place she was talking about, suddenly…a crowd. A biig crowd. “re…” Bathory finished her sentence.

 “…That place must be famous. Ahhh, there are so many people, but I really want to try out their food…!” She was confused. Maybe they could talk around some more and forget that place? Or maybe they could wait…

”Setz, do you think we should wait? Or do you want to try to find another place to eat?” She looks at him, with a ‘Please, let’s wait! face.

Setz looked at the crowd and started his sentence: “I’m all for you. If you think you can wait a little while longer to eat, we’ll wait. If not, we’ll search for another place” Seeing her puppy eyes while answering that question left the boy no choice. No real choice, at least. “It’s alright, we can wait if you want.”

As if to not waste any more time, he entered the restaurant, inviting Bathory to come along. The crowd was big, but there were still some tables unoccupied.. He pulled a chair for Bathory to sit, and then sat across her,  “We got a table.” He said, passing her the menu. “What do you want to eat? I’ll have the same as you.”  As she decided on  what to order, Sekreuz started to think about his friends back at Crepuscule. He wondered if any of them made it here, like Bathory and him. Setz had so many questions, yet so little answers...

Setz was surprised with Bathory’s perception. She saw right through him yet again, and is always giving advices. It always feels like it’s worthless to keep secrets from her.  “Hmm... You’re right. Sorry, I’ll get used to it.”

The boy noticed his roommate seemed very interested on the things in display. “I should come back and buy her something another time”, he thought. Sekreuz looked at Bathory. “Is this how life is going to be from here on out? It is good to be unburdened... Now all I have to care about is our next day’s meal...” The whole situation is weird. As soon as Setz mentioned he was leaving Crepuscule, Bathory offered to go and even live with him. He was fine with that, she could help him out and even show him around. He just didn’t know why. But he was glad he wasn’t alone anymore, and since a very long time, he let out a slight smile with that thought in mind and asked:

“Sure, where do you want to go? You have probably found a good place by now. I could have something to eat, too. ”

Bathory noticed that even though Setz doesn’t show his feelings, he was pretty worried. He was now free of his obligations, it will be better for him now, won’t it? He can do whatever he pleases. At least that’s what Bathory is going to do. 

“Come on, Setz! Don’t worry about it too much, you’re going to get used to it!” She said, trying to cheer him up. Come on, it can’t be that hard, can it? 

As soon as she finished that sentence, she started looking at the shops’ showcases. Such interesting things! That place was getting Bathory excited. Except it was…pretty noisy, but she already knew it was going to be like that even if it was nighttime.

“We should buy something to eat…I’m pretty hungry.”

“You’re right, I suppose I should be able to handle it, Sorry.” Setz decided to listen to Bathory’s advice on the matter. “There is no use worrying about that stuff”, he thought. It was comforting to know she was there for him in case he needed it. Not that he would ever ask...

As they left and started walking on the streets, the boy started thinking about his hometown, his dad, and how he left everything behind. “It’s alright”, he thought, “Lark and the others will come eventually.” But it wasn’t alright. It was the first time since Sekreuz was relieved of his duties as the Student Council vice-president, It was the first time since he started living for himself, and not for the sake of others, yet he couldn’t help but think he wasn’t needed, and his absence would hardly be noticed. He felt useless...

They wandered aimlessly, checking the place out for the first time since they moved in. There were lots of bars and shops. Setz didn’t mention anything about how he felt, and just tagged along, letting Bathory lead the way as he looked at the humans drinking and laughing while sitting at bar tables.

She waited for Setz to leave the appartment, and then locked the door. As they walked through the corridors, she became surprised with the boy’s question.

That’s right…well, Bathory survived pretty well in the human world without blood.. But won’t it be difficult for Setz since he’s a pure blood vampire? Oh, my…At least she knows she will be able to survive.

“Well…as for me, I’m going to be fine. It was pretty hard for me to deal with the blood thirst at first, but I did pretty well after that. You may be able to survive, too…you just need to handle it, I guess…I can help you if something bad happens.”

“Sure, let’s go.”

Setz was curious about the whole new world he belonged in now. As he walked through the corridors with his friend and roommate, his mind was filled with questions yet again. Questions Sekreuz wanted to find the answers by himself, as he didn’t want to pester Bathory. Then, one special thought crossed his mind... He couldn’t let this one go by without an answer: “...Hey... We’re not in Crepuscule anymore. Will we need to drink blood in order to survive?”

He was actually worried. He never had to deal with this before... What if he just had a sudden urge to jump on someone’s neck? What if he couldn’t control himself and went into a rampage? What if...?

“Indeed!” She smiled, as she also remembers the fact that she wasn’t going to die soon, like she would if she stayed in Crepuscule. Of course, Bathory was going to miss that place, but…knowing she is going to stay alive made her happy.

Bathory looks at Setz, then she looks at her luggage, then looks back at Setz. 

‘Screw that!’

“Yeah, let’s go! I want to know more about this place. I didn’t get to go around like this when I was here, y’know? So I’m curious!” She said as she ignores all her luggage. She can work on that later, right?

“Should we go now?” Bathory asked, opening the appartment’s door.

That’s when it hit him. He had eternal life. He was aging normally before since he lived in crepuscule, but now he was stuck in a 16-year-old body for the rest of his life. Or rather... undeath.

“Huh...  I see... We are going to have a lot of free time, then.”   Setz said, pondering over the matter.  “Happy? I don’t see why. We left Crepuscule looking for something different... It’s fine, I suppose the world  itself is different enough. I can live with the coziness of an apartment similar to my house.”

The Navarus boy sat by a window and looked at his view: It seemed nighttime was quite aggitated by the area they were.

“Do you want help unpacking your stuff or do you want to walk around? It’s dusk. We should be safe going outside by now.”

Back to the human world! It wasn’t the best place for Bathory to live because of her race’s conditions, but she is already used to that world, so it isn’t a problem. She even liked that place! Bathory was certainly going to have fun there.

“My stay at the human world? Hmm…it was interesing, to be honest, even though I spent most of the time wandering, I still could get some knowledge about some things here.”

 “And about that…well, I’m not sure, but I guess we don’t. I mean, we only age when we’re in Crepuscule, right? That’s what we know.” Bathory replies, as she gets inside their new appartment and looks around. 

‘Seems comfortable…’

She giggles, looking at Setz’s face of disgust.

“Oh? Shouldn’t you feel happy about that? You’re going to feel comfortable here, aren’t you~?”

Human World Wonders || Setz & Bathory

Ever since they got their apartment keys, Setz was wondering how different would it be to live in the human world. Aside from when he was a kid, he didn’t get many chances to know it in person.

“Say, Bathory, how was your stay at the human world? You spent about thirty years here searching clues, correct?”

Sekreuz had plenty of questions, yet he didn’t want to flood her with them. As he approached their appartment, keys in hand, he decided to ask only two instead:

“How does it work outside of Crepuscule? Do we still age?”

Leaving her to answer those questions, he opened the door and put their luggage on a table. This was their new home...

“The apartment is fancy. I honestly feel like home...”
