I’ve seen so many people thinking Veritas would be a strict, overly demanding parent, but they forget this man is also a medical doctor and has absolutely studied childhood development and the way children learn. He's only unkind to adults who should know better; he knows children have certain limitations based on age.

I think he'd be delighted to watch his child fingerpaint or make a block tower, because he's literally watching his baby’s brain developing in real time as they experience the world.

Yes, he'd be inwardly bothered if his little one threw food, but he's intelligent enough to put the emotion to the side and understand that baby is just exhibiting the secondary circular reaction behavior pattern…. They're just throwing food to get a response from him.

I would like to give out some technical cyborg tips for people who write Boothill!!!

Cyborg ≠ Robot. Robots are entirely machine (SCREWLLUM is a robot)… a cyborg is part human part machine. And when I say part human I am SPECIFICALLY talking about the brain. A cyborg is literally a human brain encased in a mechanical body. There could be nothing organic in the body— no skin, bones, veins, nerves, etc— but as long as there is a human brain running it, it is still a cyborg. Boothill’s head is almost entirely organic— but his eyes were probably tinkered with and given enhancements.

Do cyborgs need sleep? Yes. A human brain is still a human brain, and the brain NEEDS sleep to function. However, they may not need to sleep as often as a normal human does.

Do cyborgs need to eat? Yes (Kind of)!! Again, it’s a human brain, and the brain needs nutrients or it will begin to eat itself. Now, HOW the nutrients is acquired is subjective. Some cyborgs may eat normally, while some might have other ways to receive the nutrients they need. How? Not sure. Maybe they have a reserve somewhere in their body that supplies nutrients to the brain.

Do cyborgs need to bathe? Also subjective. It probably depends on how much of the cyborg’s body has been altered. If it’s still mostly organic then yeah, probably. But in Boothill’s case he might just need to spiff it up every now and then (kind of like washing a car), there’s probably special treatments for bodies like his. He does have to wash his hair regularly, though. “Can he get wet?” I think he can handle a few splashes/travel in the rain, but I’m not sure if he can submerge himself in a body of water.

Can cyborgs feel physical touch? THIS is subjective, but honestly, I don’t think they can. We have receptors in our body that allow us to feel things— I don’t think you can replicate that in a mechanical body. I do think he has special sensors that can perceive the closeness of a foreign object/another person, but I don’t think he can FEEL them.

I might get hanged for this but am I the only one that thinks Aventurine and Dr Ratio are like brothers(not actual, just how they are with each other) same with Alhaitham and Kaveh. They all literally act like me and my siblings when I see them interact💀

I think what some people need to realize is that behind all that tough guy stuff and that “im better than you” act that Dr Ratio puts on, he’s actually a good guy.

he just wants people to realize that they have the potential (although his means of doing so are…questionable) like if I was surrounded by people who are not even in the slightest smart, i’d be pretty pissed too

like least when he was a dick to us in the event, he had a reason. We were the last ones to see Herta, which is why he thought it was us that took the puppet.

but Ruan Mei….she just straight up drugs us and expects us to like her??? like tf???? ALEAST Dr Ratio has an OUNCE of humanity in him. like he actually cares

but ruan mei is more worried how her beast that almost KILLED trailblazer didn't last long. she LITERALLY just brushes it off and goes on with her crazy experiments.

apparently Ruan Mei and Dr Ratio are supposed to be opposite of each other, which is why behind her kindness, theres a cold heart that doesn't care. but with ratio its a good heart hiding behind a cold exterior.

the reason why im calling her cold is because not only does she brush off the needs of the very things that SHE created, (she also basically calls then failures??) she also just ignores that we almost died because of something SHE created.

she also hides her experiments from the literal space station founder and owner, herta. also if she didnt trust us, why send us on errands for her, or make us her “assistant”??? she couldve just asked someone else

So I felt an urge to find out how heavy Dr Ratio's book is (for science).

When closed, it's basically a block of marble. I roughly estimated its dimensions (in comparison to the character). And knowing the density of marble, the book weights about 20kg (44 pounds). It's heavier than a 5 gallon bottle of water.

It also has thick gold elements, and gold is much denser than marble, so the book is likely much heavier than 20kg.

And he doesn't just hold it with one hand, he whacks enemies with it. No wonder he's jacked.

Okay i need to tell you all again that Ratio is canonically A MEDICAL DOCTOR, according to the leaks he states that he’s a medical doctor not a doctor of philosophy !!!

And he’s well adversed and has multiple achievements in Biology, Medicine, Natural Theology, Philosophy, Mathematics, Physics, and Engineering, so yes he is a doctor in those fields and IS ALSO A MEDICAL DOCTOR

i know it’s gonna be pointless with this fandom, but i just want to point out that alhaitham and ratio differ like completely, and it’s more obvious now that ratio’s character story has leaked

alhaitham is motivated by logic. i wouldn’t say that he’s selfish, but he’s not motivated to go out of his way to help others understand difficult concepts. sure he’ll reword a concept for someone to understand (see: him breaking down concepts in easier terms for paimon to understand) but after that, he’s more inclined to give them books to read and send them on their way.

ratio is motivated by the desire to eradicate ignorance and stupidity. so, while harsh, he’s more meticulous and motivated to help people fully understand concepts. and this seems to apply to students and other scholars alike. he simply doesn’t give a shit who you are. if you’re being stupid and ignorant, he’s gonna call you out on it.

tldr dr ratio is a hard ass professor that you’ll learn a shit ton from, and alhaitham would probably suck as a professor. the only similarity they have to each other is disliking the idea of geniuses

i might also make a post about how they represent the respective historical figures they’re based off of. but i’d need to do some extra reading up on that topic before i do that 💀

I'm not sure if people are aware that Ratio is actually a genuinely caring and also pretty understanding dude...all the knowledge he accumulated he invests in helping people and spreading knowledge across the universe, he's the number 1 advocate for free education and even values the people that aren't as intellectualy gifted. In one of his text messages he even mentions how not everyone is suited to go to university and how that's completely fine.

Ratio doesn't equate foolishness nescessarily with not being book smart but rather with ignorance, naivety and people not aiming for higher heights despite having the ability to do so and instead living in the shadow of geniuses under the belief that their own achievements do not matter leading to the blind worship of the genius society of which a large portion doesn't care if their research and experiments could harm the people.

Don't get me wrong he defintiely has a couple of sharp edges, is prone to get annoyed quickly and he's defintiely more of an anti hero with how he tried to educate the people on herta space station but his core principles and heart are in the right place.
