I'm new to the Fandom. Literally just finished reading the manga after binging the anime bc it was gorj and now I'm in tears!! I'm so mad that it had to be Mika. It hurts that it had to be him. But at the same time my mikayuu heart is SCREAMING!!! He told Yuu he loves him!! And not daisuki love but ai love AND THAT SHIT HITS DIFFERENT BRO I'm not ok rn like how am I supposed to go on with life until the next update with a chapter like that??? :((((((

Mahiru is a great character. Gure//Shin fans who hate her and declare their male babies as innocent angels refuse to accept Guren knows what he does and still decided to manipulate Yuu. If Mahiru is responsible for her actions then so is Guren for his.

I honestly don’t know what to think about Guren and Mahiru’s relationship. I thought after reading Catastrophy at sixteen, I will appreciate the couple and see their story as some kind of tragic Romeo and Juliet interpretation… but I found it toxic and abusive, even before Mahiru became a demon. There are a lot of times when Guren obviously doesn’t want to do something, and Mahiru practically manipulates him into doing it. She says she cares for him, and loves him, but never even tries to shield him or spare him the pain. And she several times physically and emotionally hurts him despite not being fully possessed at the time. And after a time, Guren’s love turns into an unhealthy obsession, where he is absolutely willing to be suppressed by Mahiru - despite being one of the most proud characters originally. I know people compare Yuu to being Guren and Shinoa to Shinya since Shinya teases the ever living hell out of Guren like Shinoa does to Yuu but I honestly see Shinoa as more like Sayuri. And Mika is Shinya. ✗submitted by: anonymous

Yuu's character is grating on me lately. The fact that he's blatantly ignoring crucial things is just becoming stale and frustrating. Especially when someone is trying to talk to him about something important, he purposefully ignores them and then behaves like he's a pious hero. He needs pull his head out of his ass and actually LISTEN to the people he cares so much about, instead of ignoring them like an asshole

It feels as though Ferid is the vampire equivalent of a paedophile. He prefers children, particularly the beautiful ones, frequently breaks the rules about direct blood drinking with the children, considers teen Mika as JUST within his range of attraction (which is child to adolescent), and is said to be a deviant by other vampires. ✗ submitted by: anonymous

I feel like some of the fandom is too hard on the anime. I agree with most of the complaints and they're 100% valid, but some are subjective to me. There's no such thing as a prefect adaptation.

I feel the author has written Mika into a corner ever since he was reunited with Yuu. There was an opportunity to develop the relationships Mika has with the rest of the squad and it would have been interesting to see the different levels of trust the others have for Mika change over time. Instead, because Mika can't feel emotions, the only relationship he can develop is with Yuu, but all that gets is recycled conversations that don't go anywhere.
