Hilla's first time in the water was last month 🥰

I feel like you've probably been asked this before, but do you mind sharing what photo gear you're rocking? I don't do much in the way of action shots myself but whatever you've been using seems to handle light really well and I have yet to upgrade from my old Canon T3i which is. Severely outdated by now with how camera tech has exploded in the last 10+ years. 😂 I suspect I'll be shopping around for a while but peeking at output and being able to go "yeah I know this one turns out well" helps guide my decisions (especially since they make better adapters these days so I might not be locked in to one brand by my existing lenses).

I finally went mirrorless last summer/fall and got a Nikon Z6ii with a 24–120mm f/4 lens. I mostly use my Sigma 85mm f/1.4 lens with the FTZ II adapter, though... And have discovered I just really love how my old D700 shoots. I upgraded to shoot a friend's wedding and ended up favoring the D700 the entire day 🫥

So, I'm from Nikon Land but I'd say what feels best in your hand (Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc.) is most important! Mirrorless is cool for being more compact + digital viewfinder (live exposure and such), but as always, glass is the most important component. If you've invested in full-frame Canon lenses already, sticking to Canon might be something to consider.

A new body can definitely help with high ISO/low light shooting, but being able to stop down to f/2.8 or even f/1.4 helps way more.
