i’m having fun drawing book designs. Although in these guys’ case i really was imagining the TV series actors while reading their chapter in queen of the damned and was kinda fighting for my life making the book accurate drawings look “right”… but it felt important to draw because the height difference is so cute, lol. Feat. armand’s big fat Rolex.

Halfwayish through writing my second silly cat fic and realizing how much I like writing Louis. Like Armand and Daniel are my ride or die but Louis is just so lovely. He’s just so steadfast and so often the adult in the room.

You really gotta admire Marius and his "never give up" spirit. He just knows that the 259th gift he's given Pandora is what will really do the trick, and NOT cause her to throw him in the ocean!

Emerging from my fic writing mental block to write the sequel to my Armand adopts a cat and names it Marius story that no one asked for. But I have a question for the class that has me stumped. What is something embarrassing Marius (the vampire not the cat) could do that Daniel would know about (post canon)?

I can’t wait for all the fans of the IWTV television series who aren’t familiar with the books experience Lestat turn and then immediately kiss his own mother.

listen I know it's heartbreaking that Claudia dies and it's understandable to wish she didn't, but let's please not accuse the writers of fridging her. to do so is a fundamental misunderstanding of the story and is frankly insulting to the intelligence and skill of the writers of the show.

Claudia's death, and the overwhelming grief and regret her parents experience because of it, is quite literally the point of the entire story. she dies because Anne's daughter Michele died of leukemia when she was five years old and there was nothing she or her husband could do to prevent it.

writing IWTV was how Anne coped with the unimaginable loss of a parent losing her child. she created a story about a little girl that could not die and then killed her anyway. Claudia's death is a senseless, unavoidable tragedy, just like Michele's was. the grief that haunts Louis and Lestat for the rest of their lives is the same grief that haunted Anne and her husband.

so when you're accusing people of killing Claudia off to benefit a story about two men, please remember that in real life sometimes parents lose their children. please remember Michele Rice.

she's the reason Claudia exists.

she's also the reason Claudia cannot be saved.

Hot Pink - Day 1

🪦 Grave Decisions

Armand/Daniel - Post-Canon - 3,031 words

Daniel is off by himself dealing with a personal matter when Armand finds him to make sure he's okay (and doesn't do anything stupid).

Written for @valenfangs for the prompt "Hot Pink," this went in a very different direction than I originally planned. But that's the fun of writing to prompts for me - sometimes things go places you don't expect. I do have more traditional V-Day content coming up in the next couple of weeks.

Short Excerpt:

Daniel sat in the bar, trying to do the crossword on his iPad, except the application kept changing the boxes when he typed and he ended up putting the answers in the wrong place. The whole process was frustrating and not helping to take his mind off things. He missed newsprint and pencils. 

“Are you Daniel?” 

He looked up from his iPad. A waitress was standing over his table holding a tray with a hot pink drink on top of it. 

“I am,” Daniel said. 

The waitress beamed. “Then this is for you.” She set down a cocktail napkin and then put the drink on top of it. 

Daniel instinctively looked around the bar but he didn’t see any familiar faces. Certainly not a shock of auburn hair that belonged to the most likely culprit. He didn’t dare get his hopes up. Armand was busy at Court. And a scan of the room told him there were no immortals in the bar.

“Who is this from?” Daniel asked, annoyed. He wasn’t in the mood for these kinds of games. If someone was trying to cheer him up, they were going about it all wrong. 

The waitress shrugged, clearly miffed at his attitude. “No idea. Someone called in the order. Enjoy.” 

Daniel stared at the drink. It was the week’s drink special, advertised on the chalkboard at the front. Tomorrow was Valentine’s Day, so the cocktail was hot pink in color, with a pink curly straw, and a row of bright red cherries stuck on the stick of a small pink cocktail umbrella, served in a hurricane glass. It smelled of grenadine, vodka, and sugar. Daniel could practically taste its nauseating sugary sweetness. He would have hardly touched that kind of drink when he’d been mortal— hello, hangover —but even now, the smell made him feel mildly ill. 

He did another mental sweep of the bar, but there was no sign of an immortal presence. So who’d sent over this abomination of a drink? Someone had to know where he was to call in the order.

He tapped his fingers on the table, waiting to see if the person might reveal themselves but no one did. Daniel made sure there wasn’t some kind of note on the glass or anything special about the contents of the drink. 

And then, irritation building, Daniel stood. He left the bar and scanned the street out front. He was in a suburb of San Francisco, a town that was little more than housing developments. Its small downtown area had a few restaurants and bars but everything closed by midnight. At 11 pm, the streets were quiet. 

He lit a cigarette and pulled out his phone. No messages. He did the time zone math. It was afternoon in France, so no one there was going to answer him now. 

He took a drag on his cigarette and something in his awareness prickled. The presence of another immortal.

once again thinking about how both armand and lestat have separately described louis' ability to "accidentally spellbind" mortals, which means either 1. this has happened on multiple separate occasions, where both armand and lestat have witnessed it, or 2. it only happened the one time, but things went so horribly and hilariously bad that now everyone knows about it because either lestat told armand about it or vice versa.

I don't know which of those options is funnier.

Vampire Family! I am also a figure skater and while I am not this level (at all lol) did you know there is a pairs team doing an IWTV long program. The music is from both the film and the show and the program is amazing. Deanna is a 40 year old queen (there is no one her age doing what she does) and she bites him in the program leading to a costume change which is delightful.

I have been really sick with the flu and spent several hours creating a bizarre vampire chronicles version of the German Netflix show Dark (which is excellent by the way!) where the 1994 film and 2023 show are the alternate worlds and the book series is the origin world.
