Hi guys,
Just wanted to check in and apologize for disappearing for so long. I’m doing fine (and thankfully, everyone I know is safe after the Austin bombing scare), I’ve just had an incredibly intense workload with this semester. I’m financially stable for the first time since grad school, but the trade off has been trying to keep track of seven classes, all of which are just different enough to be overwhelming (especially while also learning the ways of a new school) and have a heavy grading load. Between that and a minor car accident (no injuries, but they totaled my car and required getting a new one), and all but one of our family pets dying in a two month period (of old age stuff), and now finding out I have to move apartments this summer because they’re doing renovations, I just kind of pulled back from all social media in order to focus on keeping my offline life functioning.
But I’ve really missed all the friends I have here. I can’t be on here as often as I was (just too much of a time luxury I don’t have right now), but I would love to chat now and then with anyone who still wants to, and as we get closer to the end of the semester I should be able to start reading and writing fic again. Fall looks like it’ll be just as heavy, work-wise (which I’m counting my blessings for even if it means a loss of free-time), but I hope things will stabilize enough I can balance work and fun and still get to hang out here as often as I can.
I hope all of you are well and safe and life is being kind to you! Love to all! Sorry again for just disappearing. Kind of had no social battery left for quite a while.

I was excited when I posted this, but now I’m worried if I’m right, I don’t want to spoil the build up and reveal Taliesin and Ashley are hoping for, so maybe I’ll just shhh about this...
OMG I JUST GOT IT.
(Forgive me if others have caught this already. I’m not in the chats and haven’t been online to check the fan posts out much in a while.)
Twice now Mollymauk’s referred to Yasha as “the charm” (that phrase, very consistantly). And she carries a four leaf clover in her book.
He’s not just ironically calling her charming (despite her deadpan personality).
HE’S CALLING HER A LUCKY CHARM.

I know, I haven’t been around in ages.
In addition to work having a butt-kicking pace/workload, I’ve been trying to make an effort not to be online as much as I was for a while there. I have so much I need to get done in real life and I’m way more productive when I’m not online so much.
I’m doing well, more motivated than I’ve felt in years, which is a blessed relief. I’m still happy to chat with friends, just can’t maybe do hours-long chats multiple times a week. I’m in a good place mentally and hoping to hold onto this vibe as long as it lasts. :P But I still want to know you’re all well and wish you the best!
I’ll be here in and out. Got a bunch of grading going on as it’s the first week of tests for the semester, but thought I’d poke in for a minute.

whoisaudreytoday replied to your photoset “Okay, I’m a couple weeks late and I haven’t drawn in ages, but I loved...”
I love how massive Yasha is compared to everyone else it is absolutely how i headcanon her
I know the scale doesn’t exactly match the official art, but I like it. :) Honestly, the way Marisha was miming being draped over her shoulder, that was the only way her poses would work too. :)
I love the expressions on their faces here too. Beau’s so happy and Yasha’s bemused in spite of herself.

This reminds me of working a Halloween event at a major amusement park one year. They had very clear safety policies and strict rules about not touching the customers and how to report if they touched us in a threatening way.
So I went out onto my trail, a deranged escaped mental patient with scary shadowed eyes done in makeup. Sure enough, a lot of people brought their little ones through despite the age-12-and-up warnings everywhere. Most were really wary/scared, some were jaded already...but some. Adorable.
One little girl (3 or 4-years-old) ran up and wrapped my legs in a huge hug, then ran off. A security guy was nearby and I ducked over to ask him what the policy with that was. He shrugged and admitted they hadn’t anticipated that happening. But she wasn’t the only one. A number of kids (especially little girls) treated us like they were at Disneyland and we were just growling princesses. (The little boys were more likely to ignore or kind of challenge us. I got dabbed at on at least three occasions.)
Finally, security just made the rule that with kids we just make it clear to any observing that our hands are away from the kids at all times so no one could claim anything improper was going on and let the kids deal with the scary situations however they saw fit (short of attacking us).
Also, when I was crouched up on a wall, I had at two little boys on separate nights wave and say, “Hi, Spider-man!”
How My Little Toddler Girl Conquered a Haunted Funhouse
So my daughter earned a reputation today among the Haunted Forest funhouse workers at the Renaissance Faire. She’s two, by the way. While my wife rested on a bench, I took my little girl towards the mock-up wooden castle with the skeletons perched all over it. The entrance attendant who took my money at the gate eyed my toddler in her Rapunzel outfit and gave me a side-eye. Her look said plainly, “If you want to pay $6 to have her run screaming after the first ten feet, it’s your dime.” Immediately past the ticket station, my daughter realizes she’s surrounding by skeletons and immediately laughs and points. “Skeleton! Look, Daddy, skeleton! Oh, there skeleton too!” Her grin could swallow the world. “SKELETON!” The gate attendants look at each other in confusion. These people don’t realize they’re dealing with a girl who, earlier in the day, ran up to a woman wearing a fox tail because my little Kiddo thought she’d found a werewolf. See, my daughter refuses to go in car rides without her dollar store glow-in-the-dark skeletons to play with. She hugs the monsters in pop-up books. She howls during Werewolves of London. She can name every Universal Monster and distinguish a gug from a shoggoth. The maze is unprepared for her. A few feet inside, I see a a hooded skeleton peer at us from around a corner. He’s confused. After all, this schmuck has brought a ibby bibby girl into his forest, and he has no idea what kind of experience I’m expecting him to give. My daughter waves at the reaper. “Hello skeleton! Come!” He slowly comes out. She and the ghoul make friendly small talk until she notices a zombie horse and runs off after “skeleton horsey!” This level of enthusiasm generally continues. A skeleton tied to a stake belches smoke. She laughs. A coffin shakes, hands straining to force open the lid. “Hi, ‘pire!” My daughter has found dark Disneyland, and she loves it. Well, the part where a blast of air shoot you in the butt? That she can deal without, but the monsters make her day. We approach the curtained door of a structure, and before I can think about whether I should risk entering the room three grown women push it aside and rush out of the dark. “It’s too scary!” One whispers to me as they pass, bolting for the entrance. My 2-year-old walks in and tries to make friends with the monsters. Finally we reach the exit. Standing at attention is a skeleton knight with bulging bloodshot eyeballs. The Kiddo is so damn excited to see him, she smiles and waves at him for a full minute. Then I tell her we have to go. She starts crying. Walking past later a few minutes later, I see the grim reaper talking to the attendants. He spots us, and Death himself points at my daughter. “Look, it’s that little girl!” They loved her. He lets us get a picture of her holding the scythe.

Okay, but @wistfulwatcher‘s tags on this:
#i think the funniest part about marisha trying to find the balance between friendly but awkward keyleth  #and dirtbag korra who doesn't care  #is that it just repeatedly comes off as i wanna befriend girls!!! oh wait i don't care again and again  #which just totally reads as confused lesbian trying to work through internalized misogyny homophobia and compulsory het  #and i am here for it

Okay, I’m a couple weeks late and I haven’t drawn in ages, but I loved so much about the new Critical Role team and really wanted to draw this scene.
(Did my best to mimic the facial expressions of the cast from screencaps and the designs from the official character art in my limited style. Hope it reads. I want to do some more detailed character studies if I have time later.)

Not doing great about staying updated on here or getting much writing done, between holidays, family visits, and preparations for the new semester, but decided to break the last chapter in half so I could get something out now while I try to work out the final scenes.
Also available on FF.net.

Not quite to the conclusion yet, but we’re getting there. Just gotta put Abby through a bit more stress first. ;P (Poor girl doesn’t deserve all this worry.)
