Mann ist Mann (1931)
So here is something of a rarity. This is a low-framerate film taken during a 1931 performance of Bertolt Brecht's play "Mann ist Mann" on the Berlin stage. The original silent film, which can be viewed here or here, goes by so quick when viewed normally because it really wasn't meant to be an actual film. This was more like Brecht's experiment in capturing important pivot points of the story, and what he considered to be the most important gestures of the actors.
I treasure this beautifully-restored scrap of film because it is the closest thing we will ever get to seeing one of Peter's stage performances. I made no edits apart from slowing the playback down about 8 times so that you might actually get a good look at Peter (he looks so young and roly-poly, omg I love him) playing the central role of one Galy Gay, an ordinary man whose identity is broken down and completely remade over the course of the story. This is all I know; I haven't read the entire play yet, and of course I don't think it gets performed much these days, but the whole thing is weird and kind of fascinating.
Also that bit of set dressing with the larger-than-life painting of Peter as Galy Gay means that someone had to take the time to paint a good likeness of him. It was probably destroyed at some point, but wow I wish it had survived because that would look cool on my wall.

non saints prayer
Figure of the authority, endowed by me, allow each of us to live a life like this one, previous to becoming a channel for our peace; To find the love in all hatred, forgiveness for all trespass, a sense of harmony even within our much-needed discords; the pursuit of error in the larger manifestation of emergent truths; To bring fortitude that does not dismiss but encourages doubt, that combines hope with help when facing despair; that is at home in the shadows as it is in the light; that helps find a place of unnumbed emotion ranging from joyous to sadness without hierarchies of reward oriented feelings. By my own authority, and that which I lend to others, might my efforts be comfort to us rather than merely assuage my own anxiety; to think and stand beyond the communication, in which we already understand and are already understood; to be in love rather than in demand thereof: For it is by dropping the language’s expectations, that one finds the moment of being. It is by forgiving others and the state of affairs, that one can feel forgiven, and like giving. And then, by dying, one awakens to what this life is not and thereby is eternal.

i tick to another clock
on a different calendar
it’s not just what you thought
or vaguely remember
like, just walking the dog
in a rhythm to which you aspire
or sipping on some hot broth
While you wrangle with the torpor

Like a shy Narciß
dips their face into the pool
in order to lose sight in cool
concentric rings from the Abyss,
imagine this:
land does not last, there is no goal.
Brush stroke only scratches wet then drys,
a tale without body of your eyes,
and now a softened clay atop the spinning wheel.
