The Star Wars Original Trilogy is peak fiction because they took a fairy tale and set it in space, then they gave the princess in distress a GUN. But even better they gave her a sharp tongue and the power of revolution. They made the “dragon” a depressed cyborg father with asthma who doesn’t understand his own emotions and does murders because of it. And they made the knight a blond Barbie boy who attempts to solve problems with the power of love like he’s Sailor Moon or something.

And then they said, “oh yeah they’re all related btw. All the galaxy’s problems are this one family’s fault. Hope this helps 😘”

my dad has been a pretty devout gamer his entire life and i have this. memory of when i was little- he was playing a game. i don’t even remember what it was. and i saw a character who was older and had wrinkles, and i asked “why did they have to make her ugly?” and he said “do you think she’s ugly? i’ve got wrinkles, and you’re going to get wrinkles at some point. do you think every video game character ever should always be pretty and young? not everyone is pretty in the real world. why does it matter? does it change how i play, how i should view her? it doesn’t. i don’t think she needs to be pretty. i think it’s good we have characters who aren’t pretty.” and i’m sure he doesn’t remember it now, it was a long time ago. but every time i see discourse online surrounding how a character has a big forehead or isn’t conventionally attractive enough or whatever. i think about it.

Yup, the reason why our "media" has black ninjas, was the symbolism from this - black = sneaky, can't be seen. Don't forget, if you do operate at night, as some did, then black clothing was useful camouflaged to use when any "decent and honorable beings" were not out and about.

Ninjas don’t wear black. They used to disguise themselves as civilians. Unlike ninjas in movies, the real guys were smart enough to know that wearing a black outfit with a face mask wasn’t the best strategy for blending in. Source

Chapter One - An Ember Falls to the Ground

It was test day which normally made it a… he never would have called it a horrible day, but Sephiroth would allow it to be called a trying day. Except Hojo was off somewhere paying attention to another project so it was just two of the regular assistants administering the test when he entered the room and so a trying day was turning out to be a better day.

After the blood draw, the strength meter and mako level test, all that was left was the heart stamina and he would be done with Medical for the week. Nothing that would leave him sore and aching, no “surprise” tests dolled out by Hojo that left him carefully measuring his breath to prevent any noticeable hitches in his pattern. He learned fast what happened when Hojo was questioned about testing aftermath and Sephiroth had prevented a repeat in the last four years.
