Carpet bag open, half the contents spilled out across the desk, Jodie started the newspaper club. “The last paper had some really good feedback, especially that article about the new tourney training.. I was thinking of having a follow-up in the coming weeks. I’ve also had suggestions about a gossip column. That will not be happening. Whatsoever!” Distracted by a figure lurking in the doorway, Jodie looked up. “Oh! Are you hoping to join us?”

@shadow-on-the-moon
Shadow had been passing the classroom door when he’d seen the sign for what club was meeting in there. A school newspaper? That sounded close enough to his dream club, and perhaps it would be a way for him to make friends...as nervous as he was to approach people. Hardly realising how close to the door he was as he read the poster, he blinked and turned abruptly when he was spotted. “Oh, umm...” He shifted his backpack over his shoulder and walked a few steps into the room. “Y-Yes...”

Shadow chuckled nervously as she phased through the gate. Had he been in his other form, he might have done the same thing. “I, uhh…don’t scare people,” he admitted. “It’s…n-not really my thing. I-I’m more of a quiet reading kinda person.”
“You seem like it.” October replies matter-of-factually. She shrugged as she waited up for Shadow to lead on wherever it is they were going, because October sure didn’t know. “Everyone’s got their own thing, I guess, right?”
“Y-Yeah, of course!” he replied eagerly. He led her along the cobblestone path leading into town, wandering through the open gate and into the main square where a few ghouls were walking around and chatting to one another. “This is the main square.”

“S-Sounds like something my Dad would do…” he chuckled, hands in his pockets. As they reached the gates of the graveyard, he pushed the iron open with a groaning screech.
October, of course, simply phased right on through the gate with a smirk, waiting for Shadow on the other side. “So.. what about you? Do you do any scaring around?”

Shadow chuckled nervously as she phased through the gate. Had he been in his other form, he might have done the same thing. “I, uhh...don’t scare people,” he admitted. “It’s...n-not really my thing. I-I’m more of a quiet reading kinda person.”

“Because...I-I have that f-feeling right n-now...” he stammered, looking up with bright yellow hues. He switched his gaze to Benjamin, seeing his confident expression. “W-What do you t-think he w-wants?”
“You ever get that empty pit feeling in your stomach when you’re nervous?”
Worried Sentence Starters || @shadow-on-the-moon
Benjamin gave a small breath through his nose, a semblance of a dry chuckle. That was the reaction every time Oogie yelled his name from the next floor - but he didn’t have to share that part.
“Uh-huh…”

Sensing he’d made things awkward, Shadow bit his lip in thought, looking at his shoes as they travelled along in the direction of town. “So, umm…how’d you meet my Dad?” Anything to change the subject, his nerves settling in the pit of his stomach.
“Oh, we met at the mansion, actually..” Answers the ghost. “He was visiting to work on some stuff for Halloween or something, and noticed I wasn’t an all too familiar face there. The rest so far is history, I guess.”

“S-Sounds like something my Dad would do...” he chuckled, hands in his pockets. As they reached the gates of the graveyard, he pushed the iron open with a groaning screech.

Shadow let out another yawn as he turned a page in the book he was reading. Staying up late into the night was tiring, but worth the feeling he got when regenerating in the night air. Hearing a sound from behind him, he looked up. “H-Hello?” he called out.

"You can feel the history coming through the walls in here."
Buzzfeed Unsolved Supernatural s01 quotes || Accepting!
Shadow wandered through the hallway of the castle alongside Monarch and admired the portraits on the walls. “Yeah...” he murmured. “I-It’s almost like it’s i-in the air...the same way darkness is at night.”

Buzzfeed Unsolved Supernatural s01 quotes
“We better stock up on some knowledge here otherwise we’re gonna get murdered by ghosts.”
“I just got a shiver down my spine.”
“This looks like Disney Land.”
“You are full of shit if you do not feel strange right now.”
“I assure you in like half of the places you’ve been, people have died there. People have probably died at the Chipotle we just ate at.”
“I won’t argue that your logic is flawed. I just hate it because it’s detrimental to my argument.”
“No one says ‘oh my knuckles feel a little funny. I’m going to build a house with 500 rooms.’“
“You almost scared me to death. Never gonna forgive you for that.”
“That’s what people usually say on their way to their death.”
“I’m more concerned about the spiders than the ghosts.”
“Everyone thinks feeling energy is bullshit, but you don’t feel strange at all? Not even a little bit?”
“You’re insufferable.”
“[name] don’t look over here, there’s a little stuffed animal.”
“This is an adventure! I just love seein’ ya squirm.”
“Okay, tell your spooky story.”
“[laughing] We better get out of this house, somebody knocked our little bear out of his little wicker chair.”
“You’re telling me you wouldn’t be unnerved by going upstairs and seeing a bunch of stuffed animals organized into a little cult circle when no one did it?”
“Your unrelenting skepticism is exhausting.”
“Are they going to sue the ghosts?”
“In case you’re keeping score, that’s three people that fainted.”
“You don’t think maybe one of them was like ‘ah, I feel sick, I gotta go home.’ and the others were like ‘uhh, yeah me too, a burning pain, I gotta go home.’“
“So you think this was all an elaborate hooky scheme?”
“Ok, well, this theory would be bullshit for you. The most reputable, logical, fact-based source.”
“Even if we get possessed tonight we can have a nice brewski after.”
“You can feel the history coming through the walls in here.”
“It’s not wonderful when the history fights back.”
“Peak ghost time. 90% of the ghosts are from that era.”
“You never really hear about a ghost from 2010 or so that’s wearing like a flannel and ripped jeans or some shit like that. It’s always somebody wearing a bonnet.”
“I’d be a pleasant ghost, I’d like pour people tea and all that or I’d do chores around the house.”
“Are there ghost ants?”
“How do you arrest a ghost? You can’t.”
“I guess you’d have to be a ghost cop to arrest a ghost.”
“It’s a bit rude to call it the creepiest boat in the world.”
“You don’t think the Grey Ghost is a pretty cool nickname?”
“See you later kitchen ghosts.”

Shadow’s eyes dimmed in colour and he bit his lip. “I-It’s okay if you don’t remember!” he diffused, scratching the back of his neck nervously. “I-I don’t remember what it was like being my Dad’s shadow when he was alive.” It was a feeble link in an attempt to make her feel better, but it was clear he was trying.
There’s a quiet scoff of a giggle that escapes the ghost as Shadow tried to reassure October. “It’s okay, Shadow.” she replies, still looking among the different gravestones. She appreciated how they were all unique, even if some of them looked similar at first glace. “I’m just still getting used to it..” a hint that not very much time had passed since she’d joined the ghosts at the Mansion.
Sensing he’d made things awkward, Shadow bit his lip in thought, looking at his shoes as they travelled along in the direction of town. “So, umm...how’d you meet my Dad?” Anything to change the subject, his nerves settling in the pit of his stomach.

Shoving his hands in his pockets, Shadow looked over all of the different headstones with a wistful expression. Although most would find graveyards eerie and grim, Shadow had always found them safe and comforting. Ever since he could remember. Turning to look at October, he nodded. “My Dad used to be the same.” he explained. “He didn’t have any memories of his life at all. But, now he remembers everything…a-and it’s better that way.”
“Good for him, I guess.” October couldn’t help but feel a tinge of bitterness toward Shadow’s comment on Oogie having all of his memories being a better thing. “I wouldn’t know..” the ghost mentions quietly, glancing over all the different stones. No two looked alike, some where very similar, but each of them had their own piece to them.

“As good as any, you mean?” asked Shadow with a small, comforting smile. He of all people understood what it felt like to live in a strange place that wasn’t exactly everyone’s idea of normal. Gesturing his arm out, Shadow broke into a slow step. “Well, this is the graveyard as I’m sure you’ve already figured out…most of the graves hold ghosts, skeletons or ghouls, but some of them belong to residents. Some of them know they have a grave, others don’t because their names have changed since they were alive.”
“We can go with that, sure.” October answers, eyes glancing over all of the different tombstones that the graveyard held as she floated alongside Shadow just inches above the ground. All of the graves were actually pretty creative-looking. Then again, in a town that was made by and for Halloween, that detail wasn’t too surprising to her. “I’m guessing they don’t have very many life-memories either..?” That was the case for many of the mansion-ghosts. It was even slightly the case for October.
