❝ wonderful . ❞ corners of cat’s mouth turn upwards , words coming out near a purr as she slips into the seat . it’s a cute enough place , if a little small . nothing like the one near her back home . now they had good desserts .
❝ i’d ask what’s best here - but somehow i doubt you know better than me . ❞ turns to waitress , eyes barely glancing over the posted menu . she’s a simple woman , likes what she likes . and when she’s only just arrived - and without her loot no less , she needs to avoid splurging . at least , until she manages a heist . ❝ a scoop of vanilla , thanks . ❞ a beat . ❝ with sprinkles . ❞
-.-. .- ... ... .- -. -.. .-. .-
Cassandra’s eyes studied the woman in front of her. The woman was pretty, and she moved smoothly— graceful. She was light on her feet, and moved like... silk. Like Catwoman. Eyes— knows what she likes, or doesn’t care? Or both? Either way, vanilla was a good choice. Cass liked chocolate better, but vanilla was better with pie. Or cake. And most sauces.
At the other’s comment, she nodded in agreement. Cassandra was new to this world, and it seemed like this woman was new too. She reminded herself to find someone from this world. She wanted to know what this world was like before... all of this. “Good choice,” she offered after a moment, smiling a little. “One of my brothers thinks vanilla is boring.” A beat passes. The smile turns into a smirk. “He’s wrong.”

theorqcle:
Settling in that place was a difficult task, especially considering that her place of operations did not seem to be there, at least her computer and valuable information remained with her. What was happening was hard, but Barbara tried to hold on to the little details that kept her fighting,
Seeing Cassandra sitting there eating ice cream made her heart happy. Barbara approached Cass, a half smile on her face, and paused at the unoccupied seat “that’s great” she replied, still smiling “you don’t mind if I join you, right?”she said as she moved the chair out of her way and set her wheelchair in place. “How’s it going Cass?” she asked with genuine interest.
-.-. .- ... ... .- -. -.. .-. .-
Familiar. A wide smile grew on Cass’s face as Barbara wheeled towards her. Eyes crinkled, head tilted, not a full smile but the smile never stopped— Babs was happy to see her too. “I don’t mind at all.” She held out her pint of ice-cream and spoon wordlessly, her eyes bright and her offer clear.
At the question, Cassandra hummed a little in thought. Her brows furrowed. A part of her wanted to shrug— but that wasn’t much of an answer. “I have ice-cream, so... it’s going good.” Her family was here, and she had faith that they would figure it all out. Besides, this world had heroes of their own, who clearly had taken care of their world amazingly for years. “Have you seen Wayne Manor?” That confused her. No Gotham, but Wayne Manor was still here. Confusing.

Universes colliding wasn’t the weirdest thing that had happened to her. She lived in Gotham. But it was still weird. There was no Gotham anymore, but there was a Wayne Manor. There were other heroes, people she’d never seen before. She’d had to Google “the Avengers”. Apparently, they were like this universe’s Justice League. Maybe she should have felt out of her depth, but from what Cassandra had seen, most of her family had made the jump too. That was what mattered most to her. She didn’t know what she would have done if the people she loved weren’t here.
Well, she also had ice cream. Everything was better with ice-cream. She sat on a bench outside of I Scream, a pint of chocolate fudge ice-cream in her hands as she dug into it. Every time she was in a new place, she tried to buy some ice-cream, and she would have sat inside but there were too many people. Her body was relaxed as she licked the spoon, relishing in the rich chocolate-y flavor. Her eyes wandered over the pedestrians (tense shoulders, fists clenched, eyes, open stances, heads bowed, brushing fingers, looking away then back) before she noticed someone slowing down. “The seat is open,” Cass called out calmly, shifting closer to the edge as she scooped up another generous spoonful of ice-cream.

BASICS
Name: Cassandra Cain-Wayne Age: Older than Tim Drake. Alias: Batgirl Universe: New Earth (although if people bring in characters from Prime Earth, then I’ll be flexible with friendships and dynamics! I might eventually add in some Prime Earth stuff, if she gets used more) Powers/Abilities: Peak human physicality, martial arts master, body-reading ability, hand-to-hand combat, stealth Team/Solo: Working for Batman Incorporated/with the Batfamily group Dossier: New Earth dossier
QUESTIONS
What universe are you from, this one or another?
“I’m from my universe.”
How do you feel about the collision of all these universes?
There is no answer. Just a simple shrug.
Are you willing to help foreign universes to get home if at all possible?
“Yes.”
If not possible how would you feel if these foreign universes stayed here indefinitely?
Another shrug, this time accompanied with a small smile. It’s clear that she doesn’t mind. It may be difficult, and a tight squeeze, but what option was there?
Are you willing to solve this problem with peaceful revolutions or will you battle it out and have the stronger universe win?
“I will fight if there is a fight. But peace is more important.”
BRIEF HISTORY
tw: child abuse, murder, child assassin nastiness
David Cain was dead set on the idea of creating the perfect warrior. He wanted to make the perfect bodyguard for Ra’s Al Ghul. He tried training children, but that did not work out as well as he had hoped... and so his hunt began for a suitable mother, someone with the perfect genetics to make this perfect child. He finally came across Sandra Wu-San, and together they conceived Cassandra. And once Cassandra was born, her training began.
David Cain implemented many tactics to ensure that Cassandra would be perfect. He ensured that she was cut off from the rest of the world, deprived her of language in the conventional sense, forcing her brain to train in reacting to the body. It’s often referred to as a form of dyslexia, in which Cassandra has trouble reading and writing and speaking, but can predict people’s moves and read their emotions through their body with an uncanny accuracy. He made sure that she barely reacted to pain with games, like shooting her with bullets to get her used to the pain.
When she was eight years old, she was brought out to do her first mission: she was to kill Faizul. And she did. She did everything perfectly— but Cassandra could read bodies, and what she read and understood as Faizul died scarred her. She understood death as he experienced it, and she violently rejected the path her father was leading her on.
Cassandra lived on her own for about nine years (according to the DC canon). She made her way to Gotham at around age 17 (once again, according to DC, but like, ages are never really consistent.) She became one of Oracle’s (Barbara Gordon’s) agents, and when she saved Commissioner Gordon’s life, she was given the Batgirl costume. She was introduced to the rest of the Bat-Family, and bonds were forged between her and Barbara and her and Bruce. Cassandra came to view both of them as mentors, and this evolved into parental figures. Her career as a vigilante thrived.
A psychic encounters Cassandra and rewires her brain, making it so that she can use English perfectly. In doing so, Cass loses her ability to read bodies, and thus her ability to fight effectively. She’s told to give up her suit, and Bruce tries to teach her his method from the beginning— and there isn’t much progress, as she is too preoccupied but what she has lost. Eventually, she encounters Lady Shiva, who she realizes is her mother— and Lady Shiva offers to re-teach her, in exchange for a duel to the death in one year. Cassandra accepts, despite believing that she will not win.
Cassandra continued to train. Her pool of felled adversaries continues to grow, and Bruce and Barbara are amazed but disagree about the situation. They both know about the match, but Bruce decides to let her continue, whereas Barbara tries to stop her when the time comes. And finally– she is killed by Lady Shiva, only to be brought back to life for a rematch, a proper fight. This time, Cassandra does beat Lady Shiva, being the first to do so— but instead of killing her, she lets her live.
The rest can be read (for the most part) on the wiki!
TIDBITS
Cassandra Cain is in peak human condition— to the point where in one comic book run she was considered by a government agency as someone who has the aggregate power of a metahuman, even if her individual attributes are within human level. She was taught ASL, and she can read, speak and write. She can dance too, and in fact she loves dancing. Her body-reading ability is fairly self-explanatory, and she’s been trained in quite a few different martial arts disciplines. She’s also a master at hand-to-hand combat and stealth, and she has some skills with investigation

She knows what it means to be built into something terrible. The strength it takes to turn away from. She knows what it means to be alone, to be separated from every instinct that raised you.

Her name is Cassandra Cain. She was engineered by her father away from other children to be a human weapon. Her first language was violence. She might be the most dangerous fighter I’ve ever seen in action. If guided by another hand, she could be the most deadly enemy any of us have ever faced. Or she could be the best of all of us.

With one glance, she already knew what they’d just started to think about doing. The fight was over before her feet touched the ground.
But that’s not what impressed me.
These people were scum. Cold-blooded killers. They’d fired at women and children, killing dozens. Batgirl knew this. She also knew how I felt about it. How little I’d have minded any extra…zeal…on her part.
But…there wasn’t any. At her speed it must’ve been difficult, but she did just enough to take them out. No more.
She was…it wouldn’t have looked this way to anyone else, mind you, but she was…
Gentle. Even with them.
