because they're programmed to. Do you want society to be programmed to work with no reward? This isn't the message you think it is. Also, turn on comments. Face the Masses. Coward

I have moderate to severe unpronounceable disease. Fortunately, there's unpronounceable medication. Ask your doctor about unpronounceable medication, which could allow you to do basic human activities like being happy. Side effects may include a painful death.

I guess a more general version of the point is that in the last 50-ish years, everyday language has borrowed more and more of both the terminology and structural features of technical language. This happens for a lot of reasons. But I think it's mostly not a good thing. For one, being abstract and technical is not actually very useful in the messy real world, where concepts are fuzzy and vague and most things of importance are not quantifiable. For another, if natural language borrows too much of the authority of science and the law, it might find that there's not enough left afterwards for science and the law to do what we need them to do.

Hot take but money that isn't in circulation isn't real money
Every other week there's some news that "Elon Musk loses an amount of wealth that's exponentially more that the amount allegedly needed to solve world hunger" and life goes on the same. Where did he lose that money to? Just some abstract evaluation of stock value? This is a broader criticism of the finance sector overall. What do you mean you buy and sell money itself? Money is supposed to be the conduit to access the value of different tangible goods and services. You're just finding loopholes in the rules without producing anything tangible of value yourself.
At least the old-timey evil billionaires had to literally produce and sell something tangible to increase their wealth. Now that you can make money without benefitting someone else, no wonder wealth starts accumulating

I think the Daleks are one of the best representations of fascist ideology and the failing thereof. Mainly in that they're really pathetic more than anything. They're sad little creatures locked safely away from the world inside their shells and desensitised to everything but hate. They could never build a real culture of their own yet they are utterly and dogmatically convinced of their own superiority. They are an entire civilisation built solely to destroy and categorically incapable of anything else (literally. Their design is comically inefficient). The single smartest Dalek who ever lived ran the numbers and came to the inescapable conclusion that their species is doomed to failure and the only way for them to survive is to rethink their ways... so they killed him.

With each passing day Agent Smith from The Matrix start to make more and more sense
Any organization, be it work or school (hopefully not family) seem to be rotting, as quality drops precipitously year after year. Take school for example. I'm used to a grading system that equates Bs with competence. This means that someone with a C or below is NOT COMPETENT and should not be trusted with the skills in question. But as long as money is stuffed into the system, people just churn through it, with no regard for the competency (and thus quality) of the output.
The machine has stopped caring about the quality of its cogs and yet it wonders why it's now breaking down.
I hate this place. It's saturated by a stink, a rot that's set in.
I can only hope to save myself from infection by caring, by being complacent just enough to survive and to put any remaining energy I have into quality.
And hopefully my acts of quality will spur on acts of quality by others and may they be disinfected too.
