Portfolio
My Tumblr acts as my portfolio. It contains my Foundation Art & Design diploma, my recent artworks and some A-Level pieces. It starts with some life drawings and my Clarks project. Then it goes into pieces that i’ve done since college. The rest of it is then my (almost) entire year of Foundation Art. Due to Covid, I had to complete my course on here. There is a lot of written work that goes alongside it which makes my blog fairly long.

These are images from when I did a design brief for Clarks. A handful of students were chosen to present their shoes to them and I was one of them. However, due to Covid, I was unable to do this.

Digital painting of an Apple. This was done on my iPad using @procreate. Due to an injury on my left hand, I haven’t been able to paint or draw anything traditionally. However I could still be creative on my iPad. The shading on tones are off but I’m happy with the result. #art #artist #artistsoninstagram #digitalart #digitaldrawing #digitalpainting #procreate #procreateart #apple #applepencil #ipad https://www.instagram.com/p/CMUbWxWljmN/?utm_medium=tumblr

Another digital painting that I’d done a few days ago. This time of a watermelon slice, done in the same style as the Apple. Really enjoying the process of digital painting atm. #art #artistsoninstagram #digitalart #digitalillustration #watermelon #procreate #ipad #drawing #digitalpainting https://www.instagram.com/p/CMmT_61s2DP/?utm_medium=tumblr

A quick sketch done a couple of weeks ago. Using a black fine liner for the oranges and shading using a sorting method. Then with a spatula adding colour (acrylic paint) to show the main colours of the oranges. #art #artistsoninstagram #artist #oranges #study #quicksketch #lifedrawing #orange #fineliner #dots #green #sketching #drawing #acrylicpainting https://www.instagram.com/p/CK_oLkulUYU/?igshid=zq4fcrqtvy6f

A 5x7” oil painting of some raindrops. I painted this the other day. I focused on the colours I could see and tried to make it as realistic as possible without spending a large amount of time on it. This took me around 3 hours to paint although it only felt like 1 hour. #artdesk #art #pallet #paints #artistsoninstagram #artwork #painting #oils #stilllife #oilpaints #oilpainting #canvaspainting #canvas #canvasart #rain #raindrops #colours https://www.instagram.com/p/CH2nNqhFJTi/?igshid=j1f95cuwg1o5

5 x 7” oil painting on canvas board of @flotheredfoxlab I started off with an under painting, then built up the layers as I went. This took around 3 weeks to complete including drying time and varnishing. I’m super pleased with the end result..trust the process lol. #art #artistsoninstagram #artist #oils #oilpainting #dog #dogpainting #oiloncanvas #smallpainting #oilpaintings #canvas #canvasboard #canvaspainting #labrador #varnish https://www.instagram.com/p/CF4lILDFLtU/?igshid=1okg8nonw4kp5

P1, P2, P3 Statement of Intent (SOI)
In my original SOI, I wanted to include a painting element, sculptural element and auditory element in my fmp. My focus was on dreams and surrealism and the unconscious mind. I stayed focused on dreams and surrealism but i didn’t focus too much on the unconscious mind. I still included it within my fmp, just not as focused as dreams as that was the main theme in my work. I was going to visualise, materialise and have audio so that viewers of my work could get an all round experience of people’s dreams. I was going to look at surrealist artists such as Magritte and Dali and other other artists such as Tim Walker. I was also going to create a photoshoot for reference photos. However, some of this didn’t happen and I had to change certain things. I researched the artists I mentioned and I stuck to having a painted and auditory element to my final pieces. I was able to develop these skills further and I had learnt a lot throughout the project. I didn’t have a sculpture piece to materialise the dreams as planned due to Covid-19. I changed my plan for my final pieces and was able to combine the painting and audios into a film, rather than having them played aloud in an exhibition with the painting on the wall. As for the photoshoot, I still took a lot of reference photos but I didn’t create a setup for those photos. The closest to that that I did was the SFX makeup I did on a friend to make her look like a zombie.
For evaluation, I went over my work, adding where things could be improved and asking peers for their advice and how I could change aspects of my work. This was done repeatedly.

P2, 3, P4, P5, P7, P8 Postcards for Exhibition. I was inspired by museums and exhibitions to create postcards. Every time I go to an exhibition I always buy postcards of the artwork I had seen. So I decided to make my own postcards for the exhibition (if I were to have one). These would be on the inside of my exhibition. I would have around 40 of each set of postcards so that people could take them. I started off by making a set of 3 which had the smaller paintings on. Each of the three would have 3/9 of the paintings on them. To make them look more appealing I then also added 2 strips of colour to each of them. I decided on primary colours as there’s 3 of them. The strips of colour also made the photos of the paintings stand out more and centralised them. I then created 2 more sets of 3. These ones are based off of my painting. I’ve hidden features in my painting amongst the drawing for people to find. On the back there would be a question asking “can you find the objects in the painting?” and I would have the answers on the very bottom in small lettering. The objects aren’t in exact proportion as I created them using a free hand technique. This coincides with the game of finding the small paintings in the big painting. The viewer gets to take away a bit of that experience with them. This set is based on the experiments I did with automatism. I used the same process of letting the pen guide and just going along with where the pen was taking my hand. I added sections of colour to these to add more to them. Once again, the colours randomly chose and so were the areas that I coloured in. However, in my experiments I used paint as a background. If the exhibition were to actually go ahead I may add a set of painted ones. Like my experiments, these were hugely inspired by Joan Miro.
