silly little comic I did for ugly comic day about the subject I was studying, Christian iconography! Translation in the descriptions and uhh under the cut. I don't really have anything else sfw to put here soz.

FIRST PICTURE:

1- Christianity owes a lot from the influence of the Roman Empire2-being a Mosaic religion and so aniconic especially regarding the representation of God, initially it was categorically prohibited the attempt to depict divinity, even Christ

3-also, the Empire was FULL of pictures, especially statues. This adversion to statues, also, will remain even in the sixth century ac

4-In the catacombs especially, however, starts to make its way the usage of decorative and symbolic elements, then along comes the didactic and narrative art. (3rd sec)By closing an eye on those "not venerated" pictures, it makes way to a process let's say ineluctable.

5-In fact, thanks especially to Constantine, in the 4th century there's a "boom" of veneration of crosses and relics.

6-We start having already more writings as testimony from the second half of the 6th century onward. (Which will be used in the 2nd Council of Nicea in the 787 AC)

7-the more the cult of pictures increased, the more did the opposition of it and thus a higher defense of the pictures

SECOND PICTURE:

1-Not completely blameworthy: the practices towards the veneration of pictures, we can find in scripts of the 6th century ac, were similar if not the same as the veneration of pictures of imperials; candles, decorative tents, etc

2- from the many tales, it's prefigured a common diffusion of the votive picture in the private, which makes its control impossible (balloon: "....- I'll come back later)

3-The importance didn't remain strictly religious: already from the 4th century there had been oaths sworn on the Gospels. In the 656 it's transcribed a practice like this in an official ecclesiastical ceremony at the end of a theological debate, giving the pictures a legal value

4-All considering, the cult at those times was principally little delineated as some would have, already before the introduction of Christianity. Thus hard detaching from those habits.

THIRD PICTURE:

1-An interesting fact it's how there's little acts where the holy picture does miracles directly and/or with direct touch!

2-It often happens with a transfer, like in the siege of Edessa in the 554 described by Procopio in which the blessed water ailments the fire to destroy an assault tower.

Desperately need you to draw bad end!Jack again. It's just something about how you perfectly captured how I envisaged the crazied evil bastard to look like in my head. Getting high and slowly drunk on power off of plasmids.

Honestly I always had a little head Canon that frank was sorta scared of bad end!Jack in the back of his mind, cause of how strong he was getting and that if for some reason something "faulty" happened he would be in a world of pain. And sadly for him that's exactly what happened.
