    “Did the boy who cried wolf teach you nothing?” Sam reluctantly sank back into his seat, accepting his fate until they parked or, at least, until the next stop sign (he wasn’t quite sure yet). “The fact that you knew I wouldn’t go should have been your first clue and .  .  . what if I was already seeing someone? This would be incredibly disrespectful.”

"I weighed the pros and cons." It wasn't a funny situation, and it was totally inappropriate for her to act like it was, but acting lighthearted was a lot easier than the alternative. "Con you could resent me forever, pro I'd get laid. Con the boy who cried wolf, pro you might actually have a good time." She might be selfish but she wasn't stupid.

     “You didn’t tell me I was going on a date.” Sam refused to take his gaze away from the passenger window and he was nearly considering opening the door to see if Mia would stop the car. “You told me this was an emergency. And while I’m thrilled you’re okay, I’m still not okay with this.”

“There was no way you were going to come if I told you the truth.” Lying occasionally was fine as long as it was effective. She looked over at her uncle, she was definitely going to have to do some work to make up for this. He probably would just turn the car around if she asked her to drive for a little while, so she could do some makeup touch ups. “And it was kinda an emergency.”

“Have you always been this dramatic?” She genuinely wants to know. “Just don’t... judge too fast.” A girl she knew was in town and was refusing to go anywhere with her unless her older sister came with because they were doing some bonding trip bullshit. “I’m doing you a favor here really.” Who didn’t want to date a 30 year old?

      “As far as kidnappings go, this is not one of the worst.”
