I am not trying to decenter the people of Gaza and the West Bank as the victims of this genocide because they are *the* victims. i just want to say that at some point society will also have to reckon with the collective moral and psychological harm of what it has meant for people to bare witness to atrocities 24/7 on our phones, tv, etc. I don't say this as a means to equate witnessing a genocide to enduring one. The latter is and always will be the most evil and more devastating than anything anyone could witness from afar. But once the people of Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon attain justice and reparations for Zionist colonial genocide, we must then reckon with how no single person who bore witness to their suffering will ever be the same. As well as seeking justice, liberation, and reparations for Palestine and Lebanon and Syria and Iran - there must also be consequences for those in power who forced us to realise that even having mountains of evidence of a genocide occuring while it's happening isn't enough to move those in power to stop it. personally, I do not know how I am meant to live the rest of my life knowing that politicians and people with the power to act saw the same Livestreamed mass killings and mass rapes of Palestinians by Zionists as I did and they not only did nothing - they continued aiding and providing cover for the perpetrators. I genuinely do not know how to live with that. it is so grotesque that a genocide so witnessed, so recorded, so undeniably apparent to anyone with a phone or social media is so unmoving to those with the power to end it. how can we ever move on from this? i do not blame Palestinians for never forgiving the world. i cannot either. please consider donating to the Sameer Project on the ground in Gaza.
