hands await keys , LIFTED above . they just barely SKIM her flesh before her fingers are curling INWARD to grasp them . if there is one thing rey LOVES ( & let’s be real , there are MANY things rey loves & this just happens to be one of them ) it’s DRIVING . even if others say she’s a bit on the RECKLESS side at times , it doesn’t stop her from getting behind the wheel . finn , nearly every time , CLUTCHES his PEARLS & reminds her that this isn’t FAST & FURIOUS . & today , rey keeps that in mind as she’s driving ben’s car ... & precious cargo . being BEN ; the LOVE of her LIFE . unlocking the vehicle , rey opens the door & slides inside , grinning as she sticks the key in the ignition .           ❛ you might’ve mumbled it to me this morning when we woke up .❜          she says , buckling herself in . starting out of the parking spot , rey reverses onto the street .    ❛ but i love you , too . and i especially love that we’re finally getting a day to ourselves . and that we’re going to get FOOD . ❜

he THRASHES & GROWS like a BEAST caught by PREDATORS who are STRONGER than he . yet , REY is the BEAST , the VILE CREATURE . oh , but she is only a GIRL . just barely twenty years of age who lives on her own in the FOREST & uses the LAND differently than he does , is SPIRITUAL in a different way he is . rey knows what these villagers think of her . but she keeps to herself . for as long as she does that much , they cannot HARM her . he was another case .           ❛ i only tied you up because i KNEW you’d react this way ! like some SAVAGE ! ❜          rey retorts , roughly TOSSING her wet rag down .               ❛ you were HURT . i found you unconscious by the river . it looks like you may have eaten the berries of a HOLLY tree thinking that perhaps they were HONEYSUCKLE berries . ❜           rey has read , YES even WITCHES read , that holly berries cause severe DROWSINESS .               ❛ so sure , go ahead an have your men KILL me for SAVING you . ❜

of COURSE rey knows of han solo’s rebellion days . & she can tell by not only the look his son wears upon his face & the tone in his voice that his SERVICE means more than his SMUGGLING . rey smiles sheepishly in return , SORROW in her hues .           ❛ i’m sorry if i offended you .... but around these parts , there’s more talk of crime and smuggling than there is much else . ❜          the dunes , the GRAVEYARD , is filled with history that resides in every inch of the WRECKAGES from the past war against GOOD & EVIL . the REBELLION & the EMPIRE . & while she knows of the battle of JAKKU , the parts are a more important source for PORTIONS rather than they are KNOWLEDGE . she craves BOTH .                    ❛ you’re lucky . i’ll bet he’s a great father . ❜          surely better than rey’s own father who LEFT her , ABANDONED her .          THEY’RE COMING BACK .                ❛ we’d better get going before the sun starts to set . ❜          a shift change in her demeanor & a shift of GEARS on her speeder & they’re off toward the outpost .

the woman prefers her coffee SWEETENED to the point of it tasting more like pure sugar than anything else . though , she attempts to tone down the packets of SPLENDA while out in public . rey settles for THREE & stirs them into the BLACK beverage all while listening to alister & what she’s been up to . & she makes no JUDGEMENT . of course , she did wonder all of those years ago just WHERE alister had gone . rey WORRIED . it’s obvious , however , that LIFE had happened . rey can relate & she sympathizes GREATLY , offering a closed lipped smile .          ❛ i’m so sorry ... i know that’s not what anyone wants to hear , but i am . ❜          SORRY , unfortunately , does not always RIGHT a WRONG . nor does it reverse DEATH . but rey is so full of COMPASSION & EMPATHY . when she says she’s sorry , she MEANS it .            ❛ after i turned eighteen and graduated , i went on a hunt for my real parents . it turns out that they were drunks . even before i was born . ❜          they’d left her to the SYSTEM so that they could continue their lives without the burden of a CHILD & instead , the burden of  ADDICTION  .           ❛ that sort of also gave me the push i needed to leave the place we grew up in . i’m thankful , actually because i graduated with a degree in engineering . ❜          it’s what she always WANTED . well , that & a FAMILY of her own .           ❛ where are you now ? are you working ? ❜

the girl feels BONELESS , like she’s a pile of PUTTY . & truth be told , she is for ben . especially now that she’s in the strange limbo of SLEEP & being AWAKE . rey can only register soft whispers & a kiss on her forehead . she’d know those lips ANYWHERE . a delicate hand finds a home upon ben’s chest , placed just over his heart beat . next to his voice , it’s one of the most BEAUTIFUL sounds . stead & calming . rey adjusts enough so that she can HEAR it , too . lips PURSE lazily , the corners grazing his skin , bestowing a KISS to his pectoral .             ❛ i love you so much , ben . ❜          rey admits in a sweet SIGH  , hardly certain if she actually SAID the words or if they came out in mere MUMBLES . either way , the intent is all the same . she LOVES him ; her BEN .

she loses track of TIME when she’s with him . especially when she’s half ASLEEP . doesn’t everyone ? all she knows is that she’s ROUSED every so often with both his desire to SHIFT & her own , never CONTENT with one position . if rey were less tired , she’d have begun ANOTHER exploration of his body . it never grows old & if she’s honest , she doesn’t think she’ll come to an END of new things to discover . where she once held him against her body , he now holds her atop HIS , having since ROLLED over . she could SWOON at his words , but it isn’t like her . though , he makes her feel like she could be . her petite form rests upon him as though he’s a BED . another thought invades her mind , causing her to snort into the crook of his neck . she feels like ROSE & beneath her is ben , the DOOR . her body fits so perfectly upon his that there wouldn’t be room left for another .              ❛ i’ll never let go . ❜          yes , she quotes TITANIC . but she truly does mean it .            ❛ really won’t . hold me forever . ❜

somewhere along the line , finding a way HOME ( to a galaxy FAR FAR AWAY ) & trying out what earth has to offer became of equal IMPORTANCE . there isn’t much rey can do to find a way back . she maybe be a DREAMER / OPTIMIST / GO GETTER , but she is not a woman of SCIENCE . it baffles her , really . & so does watching steve sip from her cup , eager to know if he enjoys the drink the way she does . he SAYS he doesn’t mind it but his nose CRINKLES . that’s good enough for rey . smiling , she slides the cup back toward her , lips finding the straw .            ❛ oi ... i wasn’t judging you . i was making a statement . ❜           rey quips as a matter of FACT .           ❛ i just hope you weren’t lying when you said you liked the cake i made you for your birthday . if i’d known you didn’t have as sweet a tooth as me , i would’ve made you ...  i don’t know  ... that meat pie those people made on that cooking show !  ❜          the cooking show that rey , for the life of her , can’t recall the name of .
