"The Unpopular Path."
My student journey hasn't been easy. Life threw me unexpected challenges, but I persevered, fueled by the love of my family and a desire for a better future.
The pandemic began during my first year at Visayas State University (VSU), where I was studying BS Computer Science – a course chosen for me by my uncle. He believed it was the perfect career path, but I felt uncertain. I wasn't sure it was right for me, and I just tried to keep up. However, his influence created immense pressure. Holding a prominent position at VSU, he frequently checked my academic progress, leaving me feeling constantly monitored. The weight of his expectations, coupled with the stress of online learning during the pandemic, took a toll.
My academic struggles combined with family issues led to a significant health decline. I became severely ill and depressed. A private doctor recommended a year-long break from my studies. I'm grateful to my supportive academic advisor who helped me navigate this difficult process and secure a leave of absence.
After a year, in-person classes resumed. While my health had improved, I still wasn't fully recovered. Then, another obstacle arose: VSU mandated complete COVID-19 vaccination for all students. The day before classes were to begin, I was still unvaccinated and unenrolled. Tears welled up as I called my mother, desperate to find a way to attend. She urged me to come home, and we discussed the situation. My parents ultimately decided against immediate vaccination due to my fragile health. However, my cousin shared that her school wasn't strictly enforcing the vaccination requirement, giving me a glimmer of hope.
This led me to transfer to STI College Ormoc, where I enrolled in BS Tourism Management – a field I'd always secretly dreamt of. As a shy, young woman, I never envisioned myself in such a high-profile career. But God had other plans. Tourism Management allowed me to explore my interests and grow in ways I never thought possible. The transition wasn't easy. Adapting to a new environment and making new friends took time and effort. Yet, I embraced the change, eager to develop my personality and build meaningful connections.
College at STI College Ormoc was expensive. Tuition, bus fare, and food were a big strain on my family. Things got even tougher as exams came closer, and I still owed money. But then, I got a scholarship! That, along with my father hard work, let me keep going to school. I don't know what I would have done without it.
My whole college experience has been full of surprises. I learned to handle tough situations and trust that things will work out. I'm stronger, more flexible, and more confident now. I'm working hard and praying to graduate and reach my goals. This unusual path showed me how important it is to keep trying, have faith, and believe in myself, even when things are unclear.

The Heart of Basketball: Players' Stories from the Superdome League"
Basketball is a thrilling team sport, with two teams of five players battling for victory. Watching the League at the Superdome in Ormoc highlighted the crucial role of teamwork, especially given the physical demands of the game. It was a fun and exciting experience for both the players and the audience.
This blogging assignment wasn't just for school; it was a chance to connect with the players on a personal level, learning about their journeys through simple conversations. I'm incredibly grateful for this experience. Finding a player to interview proved challenging, as some were shy. This was my first time interviewing athletes, and I'm thankful to the referee who helped me connect with Andro Gonzalo, Team Black, number 68.
I asked Andro Gonzalo about his physical condition after the game. He described it as "a fatigue experience," a testament to the physical intensity of basketball. When I asked about maintaining focus and motivation, he emphasized the importance of controlling emotions. His favorite part of the game? The team's victory, a moment of shared joy and a well-deserved reward for their dedication. His experience is a testament to the motivational power of pursuing one's passion.
Witnessing their victory and hearing Andro perspective was incredibly rewarding. I know the road to success in basketball, and in life, isn't easy. But Andro belief in himself, his love for the game, and his faith in God give me confidence that he'll achieve his goals. He embodies the inspiring spirit of the Superdome League.
I hope Andro continues to pursue his dreams, trusting in the process and God's plan for his life. He has the potential to inspire future generations of basketball players and beyond.

My Best Childhood Memory
The memory of that fifth-grade dance competition on February 28, 2013, and to my fourth-grade competition, that I remember we won this and compete the other school, still brings a smile to my face. It was a time when life felt simple and carefree, a time filled with laughter and the joy of friendship. Among all the happy moments of my childhood, this one shines the brightest.
We had been practicing our routine since daycare, my friends and cousins and I. The day of the competition arrived, and a mix of nervousness and excitement through our group as we waited backstage.
The moment we stepped onto the stage, the world stopped and the people focused only on us and the bright stage lights were almost blinding, but the music was so powerful it pulsed through our bodies, driving our movements. It was an incredible feeling, dancing with my friends, all of us moving as one and that I'll never forget.
When we won, the feeling of victory was amplified by the fact that we shared it as a team. The joy was infectious, and laughter, that experience taught me the power of teamwork and the joy of sharing success with those I care about. It instilled in me a sense of confidence and the courage to pursue my passions.
Even today, when I think about that dance competition, I am flooded with a sense of warmth and happiness. It reminds me of the simple, carefree days of childhood, a time filled with laughter, friendship, and the thrill of achieving something together. It reminds me of the importance of cherishing those moments with loved ones, moments that shape us and stay with us long after they’ve passed.
