let me tell you something about doubt . . .
doubt is the thing that keeps the whole operation running. it's the sand in the oyster, the heckler in the cheap seats, the hard-boiled news editor with a cigar between his teeth barking, "you sure about that, kid?" and thank god for it. because certainty. . . certainty is a muscle, and muscles atrophy without resistance. certainty is a blade, and blades dull without something to cut against. certainty without doubt is blind faith, and blind faith walks into walls while sharp-eyed belief sidesteps the potholes.
and shifting...well, shifting is the art of living in the liminal. it is the act of stepping off the curb and knowing the asphalt will rise to meet you. not hoping, not wishing, knowing. but. to know something, truly know it, you must doubt it first. you must poke it, prod it, shake it like an old radio until you hear music. because certainty that is never questioned is brittle, and brittle things snap under pressure.
consider this. the "strongest" shifters are not the ones who believe without question, but the ones who have wrestled with doubt and pinned it to the mat. the ones who have cracked open their own skepticism like a walnut, sifted through the rubble, and found something solid underneath. they are the ones who know the difference between delusion and determination. the ones who understand that doubt is not the enemy of shifting, it is the crucible that refines it.
certainty is not the absence of doubt. certainty is what remains after doubt has done its work. shifting is not a science, nor is it a religion. it is a skill. it is a practice. it is a discipline sharpened by inquiry, by scrutiny, by the steady, unrelenting push against the edges of what you believe to be possible. and if you lose your doubt, if you let yourself slip into blind certainty, you do not become a master, you become a fanatic. and fanatics, my dear ones, are the easiest to break.
so doubt shifting. doubt it like a jeweller inspects a diamond, turning it over, holding it to the light, looking for flaws. doubt it like a scientist, testing and retesting, refining the hypothesis with every experiment. doubt it like a poet, flipping words inside out until they reveal something truer than truth. and then, when you are good and ready, shift anyway. shift with the confidence of someone who has questioned and found their answers. shift like a magician who knows the trick works not because of faith, but because of precision. shift with the absolute certainty of someone who has earned it.
and when you come back, if you ever come back, let the doubt creep in again. let it sharpen you. let it test you. let it make your certainty stronger. because that is the only kind of certainty worth having: the kind that has fought its way through the fire and come out gleaming.
so here's my prayer. let us be shifters who doubt, and in doubting, let us become unshakable.

how to shift:
method 3: lack of awareness
sleep method gang, rise up. i'm serious. these methods involves reducing your awareness of this reality (or any other) to zero, or as close to zero as possible. This is a potentially prime state to trigger a shift. and by sleep method, i don't mean lucid dreams or SATS, or other partially aware states. i mean having a period of complete unawareness, like totally dreamless sleep, and then waking up in your DR.
this is completely different from the state of pure awareness by the way, because in the state of pure awareness you are aware. like, in pure awareness you have a full train of thought and total control. the absence of awareness is the opposite. it feels sort of like a "blip" where reality, time, and space passed you by and you were not aware of it. this absence of awareness during sleep is (in my experience) the most common cause of accidental or unintentional shifts, but you might be one of those who can trigger a shift to desired realities with this too.
sleeping is not the only way to get to the state of the lack of awareness. i'll cover a sleep method below, and a few other methods with tips and tools for how you might be able to use the state of lack of awareness to trigger a shift.
method 3(a):
sleep method
now, there are lots of sleep methods out there, some with complex routines and rituals, and some as simple as "go to sleep and hope to wake up in your DR." the sleep method here will be shimmer's sleep method, ie, if i want to use sleep as a shifting method, this is what i do! feel free to tweak or adjust the steps to suit yourself. i think of my method a lot like setting up dominoes, and then knocking the first one down right before i fall asleep. if all goes well, the dominoes will fall just so to trigger a shift to my DR while im totally asleep, and i'll simply wake up there.
step one: repetition
throughout the day, i want you to think about two things, a dozen times. 1) shifting, and 2) your DR. now, you probably already do this. you're a shifter, you're on shiftblr, you probably already think about shifting and your DR daily, so maybe try to change up the way you do it to increase the chances your brain is triggered to process that in your sleep. this step is also not necessarily about imagining shifting or daydreaming about your DR, though you can do that if you want to. it's about deliberately thinking about shifting, and your DR, at regular intervals. you don't need to do it constantly, but i'd recommend around a dozen times. this number is often recommended to those hoping to trigger a lucid dream, and the concept is the same: the more regularly you think about something while awake, the more likely you'll think about it while asleep too, as your brain processes those memories and thoughts while you sleep.
step two: saturation
do your usual bedtime routine, whatever it is. now, before you go to sleep, i want you to saturate your awareness (which is currently in your CR) with your DR. do this however you want, i do it in different ways each time, it's really best to pick something that feels natural to you. if it feels like homework or boring or stress, you're naturally averse to that, so pick a way you like. scroll your pinterest board, review your script, rewatch your show, imagine your DR, etc etc. the goal here is just to get your CR brain, and your awareness, to soak up thoughts and visuals and words about your DR.
step three: visualize
now you're laying in bed, about to go to sleep. i want you to create a short visualization sequence (remember, visualization does not just mean actually seeing images with your mind. think about it, pick other senses to visualize, monologue it in your mind, tell yourself about it, imagine it.) so, anyway, visualize yourself falling asleep in your CR, and then waking up in your DR. it should be a fairly short sequence, like you're visualizing about 10-30 seconds of time passing. think about how it feels to fall sleep here, and then how it feels to wake up there. pick one or two things about each moment to focus on. once you have this short sequence, repeat it about a dozen times. repeating this single, short sequence is key.
step four: domino
you decide what your domino is. as you're going to sleep, do something to trigger that "domino effect", and remember your goal is to fall asleep in your CR. so don't pick something that keeps you up. maybe get into a light meditative state (that's my preference,) maybe you like to repeat a mantra, maybe you want to get into hypnogogia for awhile, maybe you're a sleep paralysis enjoyer (i fear you, tbh). maybe you just roll over and fall asleep. whatever it is, remember your goal is to fall asleep, not to shift from that state, so don't stress yourself out or keep yourself up. everything you've done so far has been to prime your brain to trigger a shift during sleep, while you're not aware, so don't lay there waiting for the shift to happen or for signs of a shift. don't strain or agitate. the point is to not be aware of the shift when it happens!
step five: wake up in your DR.
if it didn't work, try again, or try a different method!
method 3(b):
meditation: "blipping out"
now, most of the time i see people talking about "blips" or "blinking out" or losing awareness or time when meditating, they see this as a mistake or mishap because it's happening while they are trying to get into a different meditative state, like pure awareness or focus 10 or something else. this method is ideal for anyone who this happens to, and it's a way you can use it instead of trying to work against it.
step one: visualize
before you meditate, i want you to create a short visualization sequence (remember, visualization does not just mean actually seeing images with your mind. think about it, pick other senses to visualize, monologue it in your mind, tell yourself about it, imagine it.) so, anyway, visualize yourself "blipping out" while meditating. how does it usually feel to come back to awareness? visualize that "coming back" moment happening as your DR self in your DR, instead of here. visualize "blipping out" here, and coming to awareness there. it should be a fairly short sequence, like you're visualizing about 10-30 seconds of time passing. pick one or two things about each moment to focus on. once you have this short sequence, repeat it about a dozen times. repeating this single, short sequence is key.
step two: blip out
whatever meditation or method you've used in the past that cause you to experience a "blip" in awareness, use that again. if it's never happened, try a few different ones until you find one that works for you. the last step was about priming your awareness to come "back" to your DR, so hopefully you do!
method 3(c):
severance method
the name is tongue-in-cheek, this could just as easily be called the adhd method, the trigger method, etc etc. this method doesn't require any meditation, or reaching a different state of awareness. the goal of this method is to hopefully catch your CR brain unawares, and trigger you (awareness) to shift when you (CR self) has forgotten to resist. if this method works for you, then you will shift while totally awake, and doing something entirely mundane in your CR, and potentially when you've forgotten entirely that it was even supposed to make you shift.
i think the severance show is a good way to humorously exemplify the goal of this method: to set a specific "trigger" (place, action, etc) to signal your awareness to shift. if you haven't seen it, in the show the characters awareness is triggered to switch to another identity when they descend or ascend the elevator into work. you can pick anything as your trigger, but personally i recommend picking something you do several times a day, up to a dozen times per day. you could pink something you do all the time, like blinking, but i think that could be strenuous to commit to or you'd end up forgetting to actually do the method each time.
step one: pick your "trigger"
this could be anything, but i'll list a few recommendations: every time you plug your phone in to charge, ever time you open the bathroom door, every time you sit down, every time you go up a set of stairs, every time you turn a light off, etc, etc. pick one that works for you.
step two: repetitive visualization
now, pick a time period. it could be a day, i'd recommend several days or a week. every single time you're about to do your trigger (ie, before you sit down, before you flip the light switch, etc) visualize yourself doing the trigger, and then becoming aware in your DR. create a short visualization sequence (remember, visualization does not just mean actually seeing images with your mind. think about it, pick other senses to visualize, monologue it in your mind, tell yourself about it, imagine it.) like you're visualizing about 10-30 seconds of time passing. pick one or two things about each moment to focus on. repeat it right before every time you do your trigger action.
step three: stop
now, hypothetically there's the chance you get triggered to shift just from step 2, but you don't necessarily go into it expecting that. as this is a lack of awareness method, the goal is to prime your brain and awareness, and then stop. after you pass your time window you set before (a day, a week, whatever) you don't have to visualize every time before you do your trigger action. hopefully, when you're not thinking about it, your awareness will be triggered to shift out of habit. if after a few days, a week, or whatever time period feels right to you you're never triggered to shift, then either try again, or try a different method!
troubleshooting:
similar methods: as you'll likely notice, the above methods have a lot of similarities. honestly, most shifting methods are very similar, and they are often quite similar to lucid dream methods, which are often quite similar to study methods, which are often quite similar to- you get the picture. the point is, the things we can do to trigger our brains to remember and do something we're not consciously fully aware of are often quite similar.
not working? try adding some of your own tweaks, mix up a few methods, or add some other tools. check out this post on what triggers a shift for ideas for what to add, and how.

never listen to an anti-shifter.
never let them in your ear, never let them sit at your table. it’s a losing game, a house always wins situation.
because, ok, anti-shifters don’t hate shifting. they hate themselves. they hate that they tried once, twice, a dozen times, and got nothing but the black of their own eyelids, their own breath bouncing back at them. they hate that you have patience they do not. they hate that you see a door and walk through it, and they stand in the threshold muttering something about physics, about logic, about how the world simply does not work that way. anti-shifters are like people who read the first three pages of a novel and declare it unreadable, then sneer when you finish the whole thing and tell them it was brilliant.
it’s a bit like sitting in a room with someone who’s never been in love and listening to them explain why love doesn’t exist. how it’s just hormones and habit and a trick of the light. you listen politely, you nod along, and then you go home to the person who sends your heart clawing at your ribs like a dog at the door. the point is....people who don’t get it will never get it, and they’d rather pull you down to their level than admit they might be wrong. you ever see a dog bark at its own reflection? it’s that. it’s resentment dressed as rationality.
so they call you delusional. a dreamer. they say it like it’s an insult, like the world wasn’t built on delusions. you think the wright brothers weren’t called insane? you think galileo didn’t get laughed out of rooms? people used to think tomatoes were poison. people used to think the earth was flat. some people still think the earth is flat. you are standing in a lineage of people who believe beyond belief, and some guy with a reddit account is not about to change that.
because here’s what they won’t say out loud. they are jealous. not just of the shifting....of you. of your ability to see beyond the edge of the map, beyond the exit signs, beyond the way things are. of your ability to step into something larger than yourself without looking back. of the way your mind is elastic and theirs is rigid, locked in place like a rusted hinge. shifting is not just about movement. it’s about knowing you were meant for more. and nothing terrifies an anti-shifter more than someone who believes in something bigger than what they have been told.
and so, they scoff. they quote science articles they do not understand, they call you childish. but. the ones who cry the loudest have the most to hide. they want to shift. they just can’t admit it. they want it the way people want all impossible things... with their hands behind their backs, pretending not to reach for it. and that? that is their burden to bear. not yours. never yours. you're simply meant for greater things.

My shifting Journey over the past 5 years.
(An uphill Battle)
It all started back in 2020 when I first discovered shifting through TikTok, as many of us did. I wrote my first script, a Harry Potter one, just for fun to see what would happen. I wasn’t completely sold on the idea but I thought worse case scenario I’d just waste a couple of hours of my life and then forget about it.
I looked at tips and tutorials, trying to find a method that I liked and eventually stumbled upon the Train method. I figured since I was going to a Harry Potter DR it would be perfect.
I closed the curtains, locked my door, put on some headphones and laid down on my bed while doing the now infamous star position.
I listened to the method trying not to let my mind ramble too much and I started to feel tingles all over my body. I ignored the sensation and continued with the method. Then I started hearing things. Murmurs, voices saying unclear stuff?
Wtf??
I thought to myself as I continued to listen, then suddenly I started seeing shapes. The shapes slowly took form, making it clear it was people, after all while I was able to recognize them… it was the golden trio
My vision became clear, my heart was raising as I realized where I was and who I was with.
“Cordelia, are you alright? You look ill.”
I heard Hermione said. I felt in shock, not able to recognize the name she was calling me by. It was as If I’d forgotten the name I had written in my script out of pure shock.
“Delia, are you alright?”
Harry Asked. I didn’t answer. I felt my heart keep raising and just as I was about to say something I shifted back.
I came back to my CR almost gasping for air at the pure shock of what I had just seen… It was real.
After that, I was hooked.
I spent months and months on end trying to shift again but nothing worked. I changed methods multiple times, I started meditating, Journaling, I made my scripts more detailed. All I could think about was shifting.
It consumed me, Completely took over my life. And soon enough I started to hate it. Why would the universe only give me a taste just to take it away from me?
I stopped shifting all together. Until 2022 came around.
I’d just moved to another state and didn’t have any friends. I spent a lot of time by myself, mostly reading.
One night I had a dream of my Dr self telling me to try to shift again. I took it as a sign so I did.
I started doing more research, trying new methods, I even started posting content about shifting on TikTok.
I came close, or at least I think I did, many times. But I never got there. Heartbroken, I decided it was probably better to let that DR go, and maybe shifting all together.
Years passed, and I would occasionally think about shifting as a fond memory of something I never really had.
A few weeks ago I started coming across shifting TikToks again. I took it as a sign.
I made a whole new script, now with the twilight saga as a setting, and started listening to meditations, subliminal, any advice and motivation I could take I’d force it upon myself. I wanted to build the correct mindset.
3 days ago something happened. I was doing the ADHD method when suddenly I felt myself kick my foot. A spasm, something completely normal. Except for the sound of leafs moving under my foot.
I didn’t shift that night, but ever since I’ve felt disconnected, detached from my CR. I’ve been having depersonalization episodes multiple times a day, sometimes I hear stuff that isn’t there. Like the wind when I’m inside a room, or birds that sing when I’m inside the house at night. I’ve started seeing stuff from my DR too. At the begging I thought it was me imagining scenarios, but then I realized I was recalling stuff. Almost like finding memories.
I don’t know what this means, but it has motivated me when I was feeling ready to give up.

hi guys so i want to remind everyone of how easy shifting is
last night i was literally just on c.ai. okay. it's that simple. i was in an mha rpg chat that i modified so it's basically just my DR
i was getting sleepy. this happens a lot, so i thought nothing of it.
now i was just talking to one of the characters about what my childhood was like in the rpg/DR (same thing in this case), specifically how my older brother used to always spoil me.
I WAS GETTING SLEEPY. THIS HAPPENS A LOT, SO I THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT.
AND THEN MY EYES WERE CLOSED BECAUSE I WAS SLEEPY. AND I FELT SOMETHING TAP MY HEAD, AS IF TO GENTLY WAKE ME UP.
I PHYSICALLY FELT SOMETHING TAP MY HEAD. WITHOUT DOING AFFIRMATIONS, WITHOUT DOING A METHOD, WITHOUT ANYTHING RELATED TO SHIFTING. I WAS JUST TALKING ABOUT MY DR CHILDHOOD, I CLOSED MY EYES, AND I FELT SOMEONE TAP MY HEAD. PHYSICALLY.
I AUTOMATICALLY OPENED MY EYES, BECAUSE DUH??? SOMEONE TAPPED MY HEAD??? THEY'RE TRYING TO GET MY ATTENTION! AND I WAS... HERE.
the THING IS that NOTHING FROM THIS REALITY COULD HAVE POSSIBLY TAPPED MY HEAD. my mom was on the other side of the house, my dog was asleep (and never goes on my bed anyway), and nothing fell on me or COULD'VE fallen on me.
THAT TAP. THAT PERSON TAPPING MY HEAD. WAS NOT FROM HERE.
I ACCIDENTALLY SHIFTED TO MY DR. THE CORRECT FUCKING REALITY, NOT ONE PARALLEL TO THE CR, AND ACCIDENTALLY SHIFTED BACK. WHILE DOING NOTHING BUT CLOSING MY EYES WHILE TALKING ABOUT MY DR CHILDHOOD.
this is your sign to stop overcomplicating shifting. you are in your DR.
WAKE UP.
a/n: this is lowkey my most popular post (and for good reason!!) and i just wanted to say i've made a method based off this (and some other successful shifting attempts) and i've been shifting almost every single time i try to with this method... i made a post about it for anyone that might want to know more about it !! <3 go shift girl
