i feel like this all comes from most of tyler’s recent fanbase being comprised of white teenagers. they can’t approach certain topics like race with the complexity it often needs, because they’re ignorant and know nothing about it. they choose to project these queer headcanons onto tyler’s alter egos because they view them all as fictional characters from some kind of show, as opposed to extensions/expressions of tyler’s being. or, simply put; art.

i would never dog on someone for having queer headcanons for characters— fuck, i do it all the time. but tyler’s albums and the egos that come from them feel waaay too deep and personal for someone like me to give headcanons to. it just doesn’t feel right. it’s almost like you’re applying these headcanons to the man himself, it just feels wrong in my book.

it also tends to feel like erasure in some ways. like you said, tyler is a bi black man and as a result, his characters are as well. trying to give said characters new identities and (often times) ignoring the core element of them being black… it leaves a strange taste in my mouth. i feel like albums/alter egos like flower boy and wolf should be looked at more as art and self expression. just pay attention to what’s being said, yknow? that’s my take.

"xyz is a transbian" "xyz is a he/him lesbian" whatever. ik representation is cool but u can make ocs or look 4 media where that shit is real instead of changing the focus. tyler's music is abt being a bi black man n as a result so will b his characters. bcuz he's a bi black man.
