Alternate Shinies: Squirtle Line

007 - squirtle | 008 - wartortle | 009 - blastoise

My changes: I made the shell black, the undershell grey, the eyes red, and made the blue on all of them cooler and less saturated. I thought these colours would make the pokemon look more metalic/industrial, which would fit with blastoise pretty well!

My thoughts on the original shiny: It’s not the worst, but I don’t really like the colour combination. I think I prefer my version to the original!

Alternate Shinies: Charmander Line

004 - charmander | 005 - charmeleon | 006 - charizard

My changes: I decided very early on that I couldn’t top the original shiny charizard, which led to me just messing around with this one. My original thought process was to contrast the tough fire dragon aesthetic with pretty/’girly’ colours to piss off macho charizard fans, but I think that thought process might have been a bit harsh. If you’re not the type of person who would get mad over some rando making a pink charizard edit then you weren’t the type of person I was trying to bother!

My thoughts on the original shiny: You can’t get a more iconic shiny than black charizard, and in my opinion it’s one of the top tier shinies. There was no way I was going to be happy with my shiny if I tried to make it better than the original, so I’m glad I just decided to have fun instead.

Alternate Shinies: Bulbasaur Line

001 - bulbasaur | 002 - ivysaur | 003 - venusaur

My changes: For these 3 pokemon, I decided to make the main base colour brown, as it’s a common colours for frogs (other than green, the colour of the original shiny). I also think it fits this line’s grass typing quite well. I didn’t choose the orange for any particular reason, other than I thought it went well with the rest of the palette. As well as changing the flower colour, I slightly edited the colour of the leaves (to a more yellow shade of green). I think it works well!

My thoughts on the original shiny: I like the shinies of this line, I think they did one of my all time favourite lines justice! However, I do prefer the shinies I made.
