Speaking about how the ‘Drive N Motion’ video came about, Team Salut say: “The video was made to reflect the mood of the song. The track is all about good times and carefree vibes, so we recreated those vibes onset for the video. 

“We wanted something that was fun with colours and had lots of movement, so having dancers and a car wrapped with our TS pattern was a dope touch. 

“Having the car wrapped for the video was us putting our stamp on a classic, just like we always put the 'Salut' stamp in our music. It's a unique pattern and goes hand in hand with the music as an attention grabber”.

One Africa Music Fest - Nasty C Spotlight

With One Africa Music Fest taking place tomorrow, we decided to spotlight one of the emerging artists set to take the stage, ‘Nasty C’ from South Africa! There will be a host of Afrobeats artists present, but ‘Nasty C’ is representing and going hard for African Hip Hop!

‘Aint no rules in the jungle’, Nasty C declares on Jungle. Produced by American beatsmith, Cody Rhones, ‘Jungle’ is a trap-happy song. It is also a meditation on the 031’s most wanted rapper’s experience of the concrete jungle that is Johannesburg. 

King is a tongue-in-cheek look at misguided youth who refer to themselves as “young kings.” It features American rapper, A$AP Ferg, who recorded his verse during a visit to South Africa. “It’s not like I’m calling myself king,” explained Nasty C. “It’s about these kids who talk too much and I’m mocking the term ‘king’ because of how those guys call each other that.”

Let’s face it, women doing well and slaying is nothing new. There are hundreds of superwomen proving themselves every single day; from actors to athletes,  singers, doctors, mothers, managers, models and DJs. And plenty more that we meet in our daily lives. 

Whether they are putting on events, climbing up the charts, breaking records or simply showing up, we wanted to put a little spotlight on some UK women who we are screaming and shouting especially loud for this year.

Ms Banks

Killing it because: She’s a fiercely talented emcee from South London, with ambition to match her confidently-delivered bars. This year, Ms Banks (real name Tyra Banks - yes, really) has already released new music in the form of a banging new track with Loski, called “R.I.P” and been shouted out by Nicki Minaj recently as a female who is “doing her thing” and “showing love”. But proving that the grind never stops, her new mixtape is now available for pre-order and she will be storming the stage at Lovebox Festival in London this summer.

Jourdan Dunn

Killing it because: It’s only a few months into 2018 and Jourdan Dunn does not stop moving and shaking! Not only is she a certified top model herself, she appeared on American’s Next Top Model as a guest judge this year and admitted it was a dream come true to be up there with Tyra. 

On top of that, she’s featured in a new Maybelline campaign and was spotted looking flawless on horseback in Drake’s incredible new video for “Nice For What”. Taking time off is a foreign concept to this Queen - and she does it all while raising her son, Riley.

DJ Fearney

Killing it because: This lady is becoming a real name to be recognised when it comes to DJing and we can see her diary getting even more packed in 2018. Not only has she has been accumulating bookings in both the UK and internationally, she has already linked up with brands including JD Sports, Missguided and Nike to DJ their events and has skills in producing and radio presenting. 

This year you can catch Fearney on the decks at Supa Dupa Fly and hooking up with some more talented female DJs as part of Rock The Belles (more on that as you read on). 

Letitia Wright

Killing it because: Erm... have you seen Black Panther?!! Letitia has absolutely knocked 2018 out of the park already with her brilliant performance as Shuri in the record breaking hit film, but will be back on our screens again very soon in this role, as Shuri joins her Marvel megastars in Avengers: Infinity War. Oh, and since we mentioned Drake’s “Nice for What” video already, Letitia joins Jourdan in that too! 

On the big and small screen, this 24-year-old actress is representing for the UK females in the biggest way possible this year for sure. 

Maya Jama

Killing it because: April has only just begun and Maya’s list of 2018 achievements is already longer than our arm. This girl is truly killing it from all angles! Not only has the BBC Radio 1 DJ and presenter landed a dream campaign with Maybelline (the very same one as Jourdan Dunn!), she’s been on the cover of Women’s Health, announced a partnership with eBay and just revealed a brand new presenting gig on Sky One TV show, Revolution. Major goals.

Stefflon Don

Killing it because: Doing a quick Google search of Stefflon Don’s name will show you that she is a constant feature in the music scene and her hustle shows no signs of slowing down this year. This month alone, the hit-making artist has appeared in Halsey’s latest video for “Alone”, alongside Big Sean, and she’s jumped on a track with Ne-Yo.

We can’t wait to dance to her songs all summer long.

Rock The Belles - DJ Emily Rawson

Killing it because: This all girl collective created by DJ Emily Rawson are putting on some great events this year in the form of Rock The Belles, proving that women can dominate in the events industry just as much as men - and they can really rock the night! Emily and her crew of ladies are pushing gender boundaries in the UK scene by championing female DJ talent and they’re going all out this summer by hosting events in Ibiza, as well as East London!

Sian Anderson

Killing it because: She’s been a go-to-girl in the UK music scene for many years now and she’s carved out a significant lane for herself in DJing. As well as holding down her regular slot on BBC Radio 1Xtra each and every week, Sian is helping young people break through into the industry via Floor SIXX: the label and mentoring scheme she launched last year. As if she wasn’t busy enough, this London star is also raising an adorable son and can be spotted DJing at some of the hottest events in the capital, for the likes of ASOS and Puma.

Caroline Simionescu-Marin has worked behind the scenes like no other, scouting huge names in grime, recording radio shows and putting on events to bring UK talent to the very forefront - where it should be! This year, the young Londoner has already spoken on a stellar panel of musicheads at SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, and her New Gen collective took over an OVO Sound Radio episode last month. 

While it looks like she’s ticked off a good few things so far, we have a feeling she’s still only just getting started!

K.Michelle Brings Hit Tour to the UK this Summer

See the fiery songstress live in London and Manchester this June on her first UK tour...

She’s a force to be reckoned with when it comes to raw, passionate and real R&B and now K. Michelle will be bringing her talent to the United Kingdom in June for her first tour of the country - finally! 

It feels like we have been waiting forever for the outspoken singer-songwriter, (real name Kimberley Michelle Pate) to visit our shores and perform her biggest and most powerful tracks, including: “V.S.O.P”, “Can’t Raise A Man” and “Ain’t You”. After all, she has been in the game for a good while now, following a breakthrough in 2009 with the buzzy single “Fakin It” featuring Missy Elliott and then going on to appear on Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta, where she caused quite a stir for more than one season.

Fast forward to 2018, K.Michelle has dominated R&B and reality TV for long enough and is back with her fourth studio album. Kimberley: The People I Used to Know, as well as a super successful US tour that she is now ready to treat her UK fans to. *Raises hands!*
