What do they think it is?
I'm not sure. But many comments and tags either directly say they don't know what emancipation is, or state things that directly contradict how emancipation works. Mostly things like "Yes," followed by "X should get custody." Emanciaption means a minor is considered legally an adult. NO ONE gets custody. That's not a "yes."
Most people seem to be taking it as "Should they become a foster kid," not "Are they better off surviving on their own?"
#Most submissions are like this too#One submission was for a character whose entire story was#'Trying to survive without a guardian was a bad idea and here's why'#So people are misunderstanding this to the point I can't use many submissions

I may permanently suspend this blog because most people don't seem to understand what emancipation is

Her mom mostly uses her to get back at Pearl’s own cousins. Morgan just wants her out of spite.

Reason:
Grégoire is a physically and emotionally abusive father who viewed her as nothing more than a commodity to marry off to secure his power. Her mother's a bit better but she still had her kidnapped tied up in a sack and sent to the officers academy. Bernie thought she was going to die! Which it's pretty par for the course because their parentage left her a terrified shut-in who believes people will hate her, hurt her, or kill her for doing almost anything!

I don’t want to spoil anything but what she did was quite unkind

At the beginning of the game, Nanako does all the chores like laundry while her dad is at work. She complains that he is always busy with work, comes home late and doesn't have time to do stuff with her. She is very sad about this and needs someone who can take her to Junes everyday and appreciate everything she does. /lh because he gets better and is also a single father

Him and his siblings were kept in a lab for 15 years where they were conditioned to be able to sleep standing up in a tube and were fed pellets. They were seen as less than humans by their “dad”

Reason:
he rebelled against his dad multiple years ago in canon but he still lives in the house… his parents abused him horribly (nobody acknowledges that his mom was part of the problem too!!) and he wasn't allowed a normal childhood but he forgives his parents… please free him he doesn't deserve to be with those lame excuses of parents let him move in with the tenmas

God where do I start?? Experimented on him, allowed his brothers to beat him up, regularly pushed him to his physical limits, faked his son's death and kept him locked in a fucking dungeon with a mask over his head?? and that's just the shit he did in his childhood, not even looking at WCI. HIS NAME IS A NUMBER. His brothers names are Ichiji, Niji, and Yonji. They're literally named 1, 2, 3, 4.

Reason:
Prospero told her nothing about where she came from or life at all outside of their island, where he enslaved multiple people and sprites, including her (Miranda’s) crush as a reverse-psychology way of setting them up, he caused a fake shipwreck in front of her, making her think her father just killed a crew of like 10 people, and also used his magic to make her fall asleep instead of answering her question (SINGULAR)

Reason:
They have quite literally been absent for a lot of Teru's life. They just go on business trips constantly and leave him to fend for himself completely alone as a child, which is bad enough on its own, but worse when you throw in the fact that he was being targeted by an evil organisation.
