mizuki has never had a close bond with anyone before..... where she comes from, all her relationships with others are strictly professional, and im sure shes had like friendly associates and whatnot, but not any friends.

Huh? Was someone listening to her lamenting? She defiantly did not expect this as the shock spread across her features. Lost love for an old friend was a common thing from what she saw in drama’s and Hinami was sadly someone who had fallen out of love twice.

Hinami���s face fell.

“B-But she’s not here anymore.”

     Mizuki... never really experienced loss before. Her species was immortal so she never knew what death was like, and she never got close enough to anyone to grieve over anyone’s absence in general. She’s never been in a “romantic relationship”, never had a “best friend”, nothing. So she couldn’t say that she could really relate to Hinami... What was she supposed to say?

     “......I-I would say.. to cherish the memories that human gave to you! Do not live in the past, but rather, the present! Perhaps that person is no longer here to bring you any more memories for the future, but there will always be more humans to come along into your life to create new memories!”

—- … What an odd speech pattern. Rin had never heard tears referred to as ‘emotional H20′ before… she must be foreign, or something along those lines. That was the only logical explanation. … What she couldn’t think of an explanation for, however… is why she was distressed. There was no way she was going to spill everything to some… some stranger, so getting her out of here seemed like the best course of action.

      “ … I’m sad. What’s it to you? ”

      That was all that needed to be said, as far as Rin was concerned. If the girl kept pressing on, perhaps she’d have to take more… extreme action, but for now, the situation was under control.

      Rin wipes her eye, looking up at Mizuki. … What sort of weirdo gets happy when they cry? Crying was a show of weakness… an emotional low-point. It shouldn’t be something to be glad about… or proud of.

      “ … What does it matter…? Crying is crying. It’s nothing t… to… be happy over. ”

     “Hmm... Is... Is that what it is called...? Crying? Wow, I had no idea!”

     She laughed. The word itself sounded silly to her. Then she remembered that this person was sad! Is now even the appropriate time to laugh? She hoped that the other girl didn’t think she was laughing at her!

     “I just think that.. ‘crying’ is a rather humorous thing. I have never really cried in my whole life, so perhaps I am just not accustomed to such a thing, that is all! So whenever I leak from my eyes like so, it makes me laugh!”

     The “human” sat down in front of Rin, that way the other didn’t have to look up at her the whole time.

     “I really do hope that you feel happy soon, though!! It pains me to see a fellow human being as sad as you currently are! Worry not, for I will not badger you into telling me what is wrong, if you do not wish to inform me, as I do not know you-- but I do hope to cheer you up somehow, at least!”

     Crying, something that Mizuki wasn’t used to, had always brought a smile to the alien’s face. Well, when she was the one crying, that is. She always received odd looks when she’d burst into a giggle fit whenever she cried, but at the same time, she didn’t understand how crying couldn’t make anyone else happy as it did with her...

     This is why seeing others cry just made Mizuki nervous.

     “You looked distressed!! And I simply wanted to learn why. Just look at you! You are leaking emotional H20 from your eyes! Whenever I do that, it never fails to make me a very happy human being, and then I cannot stop myself from laughing! How come it does not have the same affect with you?”

     She doesn’t understand what a scum is, but she isn’t going to question that.

—- Rin wasn’t very emotional. She’d be the first to relay that information over, and over, and over… and over, until you had the message drilled into your brain. For the most part, this was actually true. The engineer feared not pain, or the dark, or teachers, or any sort of mundane thing that the average weakling might. Hell, she hardly made any other face than a neutral one.

      Perfection. That’s what it was to her. Crying is weak, happiness is unnecessary, and anger? … Well, that only proves your strength. Hardly an emotion.

      But even walls of layered steel crack under enough pressure, and when Rin’s flaws catch up to her, it’s hard to stop the flood gates from opening, so to speak.

      She picked quiet, desolate places when it happened. No one needed to bother her, and Rin didn’t need to speak to anyone, so… it worked well. What didn’t, though, was when some weirdo prances up and finds her, sat down against a wall, crying her eyes out. … Naturally, the only solution to this, is to play dumb.

      “ … W… what… what i-is it… s… scum? ”

     “Ah-- Do not be sad, fellow human being!! For I am quite certain that to whomever it is that you may have held in such high regards would not want you to be so sorrowful, as you are at this very moment! Be happy!!!”      Well, Mizuki’s trying her best.

crying absolutely confuses mizuki.... bc as an alien, she naturally doesnt have any tear ducts or anything so shes not used to crying when shes sad, or seeing other people cry for that matter. in her human form, when she does feel the urge to cry (which is a lot actually shes an emotional alien rip her), it just makes her giggle when the tears pour out. 

just “omg look at me!!!! im leaking emotional water from my eyes!!!” and then shes not even sad anymore.
