Captain’s Log, Stardate 88256.5: First Contact Day 2411

Captain’s Log, First Contact Day, 2411. My request for shore leave has been approved by Starfleet Command, so Admiral Gomec and Commander Flores have control of the Antares for the time being. I’m using my shore leave to participate in the weeklong First Contact Day celebration in Bozeman, and to visit my family back home in Missoula.

Dr. Shuri is coming along to partake in the festivities, and to meet my parents; I only hope that our… “situation” isn’t blatantly obvious to those surrounding us.

Apparently, Ensigns Kurdi, S’Maiikk and T’Pri are joining the good Doctor and I on our voyage back to Earth, to visit friends from the Academy, and to spend some time celebrating in Montana with us. I’ve advised the Security teams monitoring the First Contact celebration to keep S’Maiikk away from any flammable substances, and Shuri provided her with a synthetic wood “scratching post” equipped with ablative regenerating capabilities usually found in the hulls of Federation starships.

Captain’s Log, Supplemental

Our shuttle arrived at Earth Spacedock in mere minutes via the use of the Federation’s recently upgraded transwarp conduits. The Ensigns are all with excitement at the prospect of seeing the replica of Cochrane’s Phoenix warpship. It was recently announced that Admiral Picard will be giving a speech commemorating the First Contact Day festivities. As for the good Doctor and I, we’ll be spending the evening at the Crash-N-Burn bar in Bozeman. I can only hope that they stock local beer, but if not, I have a few places in mind where we could go, starting with an old brewery in a town called Bonner, near where I grew up.

I’ve acquired two tickets to see the Bozeman Titans play against the Shikahr Logicians with Dr. Shuri; I’m personally very excited to see the Titans play, as it will be my first game since I left for the Academy, but Shuri isn’t terribly interested. I’ve assured her that the food served at baseball games is the best part.
