✘ About / Mods / Rules / How To Play / Application ✘

❝You find yourself in an enclosed facility, the rooms bright and draped in technicolor. The walls are adorned with fliers, posters, propaganda— all welcoming you to a place you had never intended to visit… and you cannot escape. Every exit, window, and mousehole is sealed, effectively keeping the world outside… or perhaps, keeping you inside. Not even the building’s “Happy Days” charm or the faint showtunes slipping through its corners could hide your painfully evident reality— This was quarantine.❞

✘ Despair Quarantine is a submission-based, roleplay group; the game’s setting and concept were both loosely inspired by Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward. Naturally, there will be plenty of differences to accommodate the Dangan Ronpa format and game-play. The game consists of 20 students per warehouse (including mod characters)— varied with different personalities, backstories, and talents. It will be up to the players to discover what exactly happened to them, who is behind the game of “Mutual Killing”, and how they can escape from the enclosed warehouse. Whether they choose to work together or slowly become victims of despair, their freedom, and aspirations are in their own hands. ✘ Applications are now currently open until June 27th, 11:59pm EST!

デス ・ロンパ | Death Refute  “Allow me to explain your circumstances…”

O1. I cannot tell you where this place is. O2. We will soon have you play a game. O3. The game you play will be decided by a roulette. O4. You will risk your lives in this game. O5. You will not be allowed to leave until the game is over.

Death Refute is a submission-based roleplaying group with the combined elements of Dangan Ronpa and Death Parade. A group of people find themselves in Novem, a strange bar tended by a peculiar bartender who informs them that they must play a game in which they will stake their lives in order to leave the vicinity. The game runs on a two-week schedule, and will accept a total of twenty characters. Applications are currently set to open in early June.

while it's...certainly understandable for people to be upset about others leaving the community...and i certainly can't speak for all the people who have decided to leave last night/recently but... all i can ask is that if...someone leaves...it's okay to disagree with them or get angry at them or be upset with the fact -- but ultimately...please respect their decision. this community may be "tame" compared to others..but that doesn't mean it can't damage people and it's not fair to make someone feel as if they're giving up or running away from a community that can be "fixed" or bettered later on, just as it’s not fair to blame someone for missing an appointment or interview because the trains were delayed, y’know? are you really going to fault someone for being driven to anxiety (or worse) every time a heavy topic or else some other issue pops up?

i could type up a whole post of reasons why i finally decided to quit indie roleplaying in this universe/on this blog but?? i'm sure it's not difficult to piece together why i've become thoroughly disappointed and tired of the cyclical nature of the drama here, and yes, i say cyclical because things like what happened last night happen over and over and over again -- i've been here for a really long time, trust me, it's the same arguments happening again and again. and that isn't to say that the topics being discussed aren't important -- it's just... there's only so much of the same fighting you can stand before you have to say, "alright, that's enough." it just..doesn't make sense to subject yourself to something that's going to hurt you and eventually the pros of staying in this community were outweighed by the cons -- so i'm done and i'm out.

yes, there are good people in the community, and there are bad ones -- but a lot of the people who left didn't leave just because of the latter group of people. there are a lot of reasons why many people have just decided to move on and i'm only one person so it's..not my place to try and label them. i did have a lot of good experiences here...but i also had a lot of bad ones, especially recently. and while it's not good to always focus on the negatives...in this case it's important that i do take the negative experiences into account and evaluate why it is i actually stayed here for so long. and of course, i do have an answer to that, but it's..pretty personal and kinda sappy and i don't feel like embarrassing myself more than i already have haHAHA;;

anyway,, this is likely going to be my last post here. my skype is still available on request as is my indie url (you can send an ask here although if i haven't replied after awhile just hmu on my personal ig) although i'm really only giving both out to mutuals/people i've spoken to before/people i’m comfortable with. as for groups? i'm still applying to some if i have time but who knows my schedule's a wreck.

h*cko i think i forgot to mention?? niccolo wears gloves to hide the fact that his hands are mannequin hands?? or at least his fingers show signs of??? not...being Human squints .. how did tht happen ..

ok really in-depth stuff abt death parade au so i can get it Out of my system since chelsea got me thinkin about it >:"0 !! 

| players | malachi and jinzaemon: paired up against one another in a game of darts! jinzaemon actually wins and unlike machiko and i forgot her husband's name but honestly fuck tht guy they're actually playing to win so they don't miss the targets. they'd likely get sent to ryuji who does a good job convincing them that it's win or die so they're Really Into It. it'd be a pretty one-sided match tbh bc jinzae would have gone first and hit the taget linked w/ malch's eyes so tht the game would be easier for him to win. obviously malachi didn't like that so near the end of the game he started throwing a Tantrum!! it?? turns out that surprise!! malachi dies in an explosion bc him never free set by jinzaemon to blow up his apartment!! jinzae gets caught up in the blast too so they both die and?? after he remembers tht malachi gets Really Angry and i'd elaborate on jinzae's reason for killing malachi but that's... Spoilers <:3c ,, in the end jinzaemon gets reincarnated and malachi ends up in the void because of the things revealed after jinzae shouts in his face for [redacted]

hidenori and giancarlo: these two likely get sent to niccolo?? they're both really cooperative and (be CAUSE I WAS TOTALLY DECEIVED INTO THINKING THERE WAS A FOOSBALL EP THANKS BRYSo n!!) their game is foosball >:"0!! this match would be less one-sided than malachi and jinzae's match purely bc even though giancarlo is still Really Good at foosball, hidenori has quick reflexes! as they play, giancarlo remembers that he has Unfinished Business to attend to (whi CH IS.. also a spoiler fukc) and resolves to win??? hidenori doesn't really mind tbh his memories probably come back at a slower pace HOWEVER;; he's the one that figures out that they might be dead bc he finally recalls being hospitalized prior to arriving in the elevator!! because their match is considerably Less Dramatic niccolo takes advantage of the fact that hidenori figured things out halfway, and says that both of them are hovering between life and death (rather than the fact that they're Both Already Dead), and the winner will be granted access back into life while the loser dies. after these false conditions have been laid out, the two of them get Way More Competitive, giancarlo resulting to shaking the table and such in order to lessen hidenori's odds, the two of them trying to convince the other that they need to win the match and get out of the bar. as the tension builds giancarlo suddenly remembers his cause of death(which is really ironic if u kno.. Certain Things) which hits (also sorry for the pun) him when he recalls being pushed in front of a moving train (on accident? on purpose? who knows not me <:^) !!). in the end hidenori gets reincarnated and giancarlo gets sent into the void >:"0 (neither of them were v happy to learn they'd been dead the whole time smh)! this judgment was done after taking into account both the players' memories and their behavior during the game. giancarlo's reasons for what he thought would be living would definitely be considered more persuasive than hidenori's, however niccolo judged based on their conduct during the game -_-!!

| arbiters | niccolo: the worst bartender. the worst. but the most merciless arbiter ?? his sense of judgment is definitely more black and white, and he needs to create a Lot of dramatic conditions in order for him to make a clear judgment. that said, i honestly feel sorry for whoever ends up at his place; ; he really stresses people out for the sake of seeing just how far people are willing to go to win the games;; hell, he'd probably bring out the worst in people without the use of the games he's that insufferable??? ? which is why it's good momo's around -_- to kind of get him to chill?? make sure he's not being TOO much of an ass like nic pls these people r already dead,,!! niccolo favors those who are morally sound and are confident in their reasons for doing things?? this sometimes confuses him as someone can be adamant about their beliefs but said beliefs are Bad so??

shigeru: even though he's -_- he's a liiiittle less prone to creating tension. he likes to watch people create tension on their own which is why he's really particular about the games he chooses for certain guests. it takes him less time to judge than niccolo, because his judgments rely less on black and white aspects meaning that he can determine who's getting reincarnated and who's going to the void without prompting extremes!! he's partial to those who are honest with their emotions, even if they may not be positive, considering humans that refuse to acknowledge their bad sides even when they've been exposed (through memories or during the game) worthy of the void,!

ruyji: while nic and shigeru are kind of ?? polar opposites ryuji is somewhere in the middle??? he likes to start things off high-stakes because [ryuji voice] well i did say your lives would be on the line <:3c ! still, he doesn't do much other than spectate for awhile and might use his remote to shake things up if the pace is too slow! unlike nic and shigeru, ryuji takes memories into heavy consideration and likes to predict how his guests will act during the games;;!!
