Thankfully, unlike many of her friends, Jean-Luc is an easy drunk to care for. He drinks the whole glass of water Bluey hands him, and settles into bed without complaint. She’s about to head through the connecting door to her room, ready for bed herself, when a paw grabs gently at her wrist.

“You need something?”

“Tu si es belle.”

“Oh, um, you too? I think. That better be a compliment!”

Jean-Luc doesn’t answer. His grip slackens, and his eyes drift closed. Bluey rolls her eyes and tucks the covers around him.

Sitting beside Jean-Luc, Adele glances over and meets Bluey’s gaze. And holds it, for quite a bit, until Bluey gives an awkward wave and smile. Then the lab turns to Jean-Luc and whispers something, so quiet Bluey has to strain to hear.

“Elle est magnifique, cousine.”

Said in French, Bluey has no hope of deciphering. Though the way Jean-Luc elbows his cousin in response does make her curious.

She drops the pile of clothing she’s acquired on the bed next to her, then sits down and gets to folding.

Chilli looks like she wants to say something, but decides against it. And, going slowly, as if Bluey won’t notice, she begins to fold clothes as well.

“I might just do a bit of exploring,” Bluey muses, “Or maybe try out skiing on my own. Jean-Luc said he’d help me out, but it might be nice to get in a bit of extra time on the slopes.”

“Skiing is fun,” Chilli adds, “Though I will say that learning to ski with someone who already knows how can kind of suck sometimes.”

She eats dinner with her parents, but conversation is hard to come by. Chilli and Bandit are trying to subtly pry into the situation at hand, and when Bluey shuts them down, the rest of the time is spent telling her the same stuff everyone else has - ‘it’ll be better, you’ll be okay, it’s all gonna be fine!’

By the time her plate is clean, Bluey is about ready to yank her fur out. “Can you guys just stop!” Her parents’ eyes widen.

Bluey continues, “I don’t want to talk about it, okay! And I’m fucking tired of everyone trying to give me advice! It’s my breakup, can you guys just let me process it? Please?!”
