How I feel about "condoning" in the tcc

As most of my tcc mutuals know, I've been into true crime since I was 9 years old, and my fascination with such cases was passed down from my mother.

I binge watch documentaries about serial killers, cults, and bombers pretty often, and I have a very fun time sharing my opinions on different cases. But as I've joined the community, I've seen a lot of discourse regarding condoning, idolizing, and romanticizing/fetishizing the killers and what they've done. So, I'd like to go over what I personally consider is one of the three.

Condoning

Before idolizing or romanticizing, we have condoning the actions. To condone, you must:

accept and allow (behavior that is considered morally wrong or offensive) to continue.

approve or sanction (something), especially with reluctance.

In short, it means to have no issue with the problem whatsoever and to support such behavior. If I were to slit someone's throat, and you find no problem with it and/or you think I was justified in doing so, that would be considered condoning.

Have I ever condoned a killers actions?

A few times, yes. I often blog about killers who I do not condone, but I have a few I think were justified in what they did. Such as:

The Menendez Brothers

Luigi Mangione, aka the UHC shooter (who is still not proven to be the killer, so keep that in mind)

While I'm sure there are more cases, I can not think of them at the time. But most importantly, I find that in order for me to condone killing someone, that person has to already deserve to die, and you've got to have a good reason to murder them. But it's very seldom that people have good reasons to kill, therefore making the topic niche and misunderstood.

I often see people express that they condone the actions of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold (The Columbine Shooters) simply because "they don't care," but disregarding the nonchalant behavior of those people, it's still a situation where neither Eric or Dylan were justified in killing anyone.

These were innocent high school students and teachers. While they may have been bullied, Eric and Dylan were not good people. That alone doesn't mean they deserved to be bullied, but they were also bullies themselves. Dylan was physically abusive to his female classmates. They were already just shitty individuals.

Idolizing

Considering The Columbine Massacre is the most popular case in the community, Eric and Dylan are often idolized, which means to:

admire, revere, or love greatly or excessively.

Lindsay Souvannarath, a half Laotian white supremacist, alongside her boyfriend, James Gamble, were both obsessed with becoming like E and D, plotting to shoot up a shopping center in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They were exposed due to a post Lindsay made that hinted at their plans, and James, out of panic, killed himself.

Natalie Rupnow, yet another fan of the duo, shot up her school and took her own life on December 16th, 2024. I won't be going into full detail on either of these cases, but I did want to show you the extremes that some have gone to in order to be like them (Eric and Dylan). My point is that idolization can go pretty far when not taken seriously.

Romanticizing/Fetishizing

This topic is pretty tricky, but simultaneously, it's simple when you put into this perspective.

A lot of people may find certain killers attractive, and while that's okay, it gets to a point where you're disregarding what they did wrong. No one is that beautiful.

There's nothing morally wrong with finding a criminal attractive, as humans naturally think other humans look good. And your looks do not define who you are as a person, so you can be ugly and innocent, but you can also he beautiful and horrendous.

I just think some of you go overboard with that. I, for example, think plenty of tcc people are very beautiful. Elliot Rodger was a very handsome man. I believe James Gamble looked really cute.

But were they good as individuals? Hell no. While I do sympathize with James, he still had intentions of doing harm to others, not to mention his negative ideologies. His girlfriend, Lindsay, was very gorgeous. But facts are facts. She was racist as fuck. Now, moving forward, while I think Elliot, Lindsay, and James were very pretty, I'm not making constant thirst posts about how I want to sit on their faces, as many Columfags (I think that's what they call themselves) do.

I will never find someone so gorgeous that I see past their wrong doings, however, that goes into the topic of mental illness, which I'll be discussing in the next post. A lot of the tcc are mentally unstable. Very often, you'll cross people who cut themselves, have eating disorders, mental disabilities, and so on.

So many people in this community joke about this issue. Therefore, it doesn't get any better. I think I'll stop here for now, but I do have a lot more that I want to say about it. Feel free to tell me your thoughts, of course.
