This is something to defiantly check out! The National Gallery is based in London, it exhibits traditional Western European art from the 13th to the 19th centuries. All though I wouldn't say I don't particularly enjoy this style of art I do find it aesthetically pleasing to witness. And as an artist I think that is important to view the history of art. Its provides you with a virtual tour of the Gallery itself! it takes you from room to room showing you all the collections of paintings that they have to offer, they give detailed descriptions of the art work and zoom in on the images and you can do it all from your bed!

This is an article that I found which I feel relates to my practice and what I am trying to achieve. This article discusses Pop art collaborations between artists as famous as Jeff Koons collaborates with musicians such as Lady GaGa. One part of the article that I particularly enjoyed was Kanye West third album ‘ graduation’ cover designed and created by Takashi Murakami. I’ve always been a fan of this particular album cover but have never investigated further into who created it so I was extremely pleased when I came across this article. Murakami also created the video for the albums opening track with the same cartoon style.
Hope you enjoy reading the article as much as I did let me know your thoughts.

For All Seasons
For All Seasons was an exhibition at Leeds City Museum which was about.. you guessed it, all the seasons.
There were lots of what appeared to be things to interactive with for example there were umbrellas displayed on the roof. There were cloths and paintings to portray each seasons and what you would wear. I felt this was more of a family orientated thing.
I did enjoy the museum however I dont think it linked in with my art work, I also felt it was childish .There weren't much of a description beside any of the pieces of work which I understand that the meaning of the museum was very self explicit but would have been nice to have a bit more information and a bit more understanding of where the pieces originated from.

Scarborough Gallery
A day out in Scarborough with friends ended up in a few local galleries were we got to view some very unique painting and the artist who owned the small galleries, who were very talented, down to earth people.
Walking along the pier we saw signs for an “art exhibition” so followed the trail up some concrete stair that where there was a row of about three or four tiny galleries some no bigger than a shake. Out side the galleries where people sat on camping chair eating fish and chips they were extremely friendly and then we came to realise that they were the actual artists who individually the galleries they spoke to us for a while about them selves and the art they had created, making us feel extremely welcome and a pleasure to look around there art work.
Alot of the paintings were the sunset, the sea, the boats and all things seaside related. They used oil paints for the majority of their pieces only the odd two or three were used in a different media. However one of the small galleries did have the majority of photography on the walls of seaside things and other things unrelated to the seaside. It was nice to get an insight into these little galleries I felt that they showed the best of living at the seaside.

City Sculpture Projects 1972
The City Sculpture Project 1972 was a recent exhibition at The Henry Moore Institute in Leeds City Center at the beginning this year. The thing that originally brought my attention towards the gallery was the sculpture outside which was a massive gorilla statue portraying King Kong.
The concept behind the exhibition was to bring urban life to the city creating massive five meter tall sculptures in the center of busy places. The first idea began in 1972 hence why the exhibition is called City Sculpture Project 1972.
I wasn’t originally a massive fan of the exhibition its not the style of art that I enjoy but I think the concept behind it is a cool enough reason to have a look round and admire the art work.

One Meter Squared (1m2) was the first exhibitions at the beginning of third year. The idea were to create something that had to stay with in the meter square. We were able to create whatever we wanted the only rule was it had to remain with in the square, it could be on the walls on the floor and if on the floor it was able to be as tall as you wanted.
From this beginning exhibtion I experimented from my previous work and was able to find a style in which I liked and wanted to progress with.
The first image was just a rough idea of what I was looking for creating and the second image was the day after the meter square exhibition in what I had submitted.
I choose the colours blue and red I felt the gave them a retro and iconic look hence why I used an iconic person like Kanye West. The colours also made it look trippy and some what 3d which I enjoyed testing the colours with.

MoMa
On a recent trip to New York with University, however in second year so not quite third, we visited The Museum Of Modern Art. Which I have to say was one of my favourite Museum that I have ever been to and think that I will ever go to. It had a wide range of different styles of art ranging from etching to anything like oil paint. The art works were beautiful and inspiring to any upcoming arts of admirar in general. Everything in the gallery was so picturesque and beautiful it was amazing to be able to witness it! During my visit there was even a live art piece, which was quite exciting to witness. There were so many amazing and wonderful modern and contemporary artists, something which I aspire to be one day.
